Maelyn and Yoseob had finally decided to try and get along with each other, and had set up some compromises that would enable them to hang out more. Although, more often than once in a week, Yoseob would suddenly pull out of their schedule to attend to other matters. This afternoon was a perfect example of that.

“Lost your keys?” a sudden voice had erupted from beside her. Maelyn nearly made a jump over the railing in surprise. She cautiously turned around, seeing the man from the parking lot weeks ago. Her judgment on his looks were clearly an understatement as she was allowed to bask in in presence for a longer time now.

“No, just. . .frustrated.” she admitted, reluctantly tearing away her eyes from his charismatic gaze. What was his name again? Joon, was it?

“Care to elaborate?” Joon asked, suddenly intrigued by her confession. He casually leaned against the railing, sparing no little than a few inches away from her. Maelyn shifted uncomfortably with this particular assessment as she looked down at her shoes. “My roommate decided to cancel our plans for this afternoon. That's all. I'm just really angry now since I'm left with nothing to do,” she answered.

Joon smiled. “Well if the lady wishes to, you can hang out with me. I was just heading out to the gym,” he paused as a sudden thought flashed through his head. He glanced over at the Maelyn as he began to regret his offer. She was, after all, a girl. And the last thing he knew, was that they weren't commonly spotted in gyms.

“Sure!” Her response just added more to curiosity about her.

Joon relaxed his shoulders as he eased himself to his feet. “You're kind of strange, you know? Usually girls don't find gyms a romantic place for a date.” he laughed. Maelyn tensed. A date?

“Y-yeah! Well, I'm not like other girls.” she admitted shakily. Joon stood there for a moment and stared at her. His face broke out into a smile seconds later. “Our first encounter hinted me that.” he said, causing Maelyn to smile back. “Sorry bout my attitude.” she apologized. Joon shrugged it off and grabbed her wrist, suddenly tugging her towards the elevator. “Forgiven.” he said, turning to look at her over his shoulder.

“Why not?”

Maelyn rolled her eyes and rested her head on Joon's shoulder. The guy was smart, and he took the hint to leave the two alone. Maelyn released a chuckle as she pushed herself off her new acquaintance. “Thank you for being my fake boyfriend,” she said. Joon shrugged, a smug grin spreading across his face.

“And thank you for being my fake girlfriend. It helps with the guns,” he replied, showing off his biceps. Maelyn laughed and it become contagious to Joon as he followed in suit. “Now let's move before the manager kicks us out for fooling around.” he added, dragging her off again. Maelyn allowed a grin at that before mentally noting to point out to Joon that she wasn't really fond of being dragged to places.

“So you hold it like this?” asked Maelyn.

Upon Joon's insistent, she had finally caved in and agreed to try one of the equipments in the gym. Apparently, they looked more complicated to use than she thought.

Joon nodded, looking positively elated, as he helped Maelyn adjust to the proper position required. But after a few failed attempts, a huff of frustration, Maelyn was down on the floor in defeat.

“Can we, I don't know, try something that doesn't require this much. . .” she let her voice trail off as she gestured at the 'thing' behind her. Joon let out a booming laughter before easily pulling her up to her feet. The smiles on their faces disappeared as they stared at each other. Moments seemed to pace, and Maelyn couldn't help but notice how handsome Joon really looked. She shook her head away from these thoughts and cleared ; snapping the boy back to reality.

“Sure.” he agreed. Maelyn resumed to her normal self and grinned at this as her wandering eyes landed on a distant boxing ring. Joon followed her gaze and a spark of surprise flitted through his eyes.

“You sure?” he asked, suddenly regretting letting her choose what to do next. Maelyn eagerly nodded her head as she dragged him towards it. Although, the countless wolf whistles directed at them went unnoticed as Maelyn subconsciously pulled her hand away from his. It went noticed by Joon. He frowned. He kind of liked holding her hand. It fit right in his.

“So, next time?” Joon asked, hopeful eyes visible on his face. Maelyn looked towards her door, as if expecting Yoseob to suddenly burst into the scene; but nothing like that happened.

“I, guess so.” she said unsure. Joon grinned as he reached for his pocket and took out his keys to his place.

“Whenever you need me, just give me a knock.” he said, before disappearing into the walls of his own home. Maelyn waited to hear his door close before entering her & Yoseob's place.

“Yoseob?! You here?! Yoseob?!” she called from the living room. She scanned the almost fully furnished room to see that nothing had been moved out of place. Maelyn move onto the kitchen, and there, she found a note lying on the counter top.

I'll be home late. Tight Schedule. Sorry. - Yoseob

Maelyn unknowingly crushed the small note mercilessly with her hand. She scoffed and threw it into the garbage bin, along with the rest of its friends. Clearly, she expected too much for him to keep his end of the promises they made together. Yet she couldn't help but feel a tug at her heart that made her stomach lurch at a specific word she saw on the note.
