Ch 7

The Sound Of The Forest

I watched as the boy in front of me grew pink, the color seeming to work its way up from the edge of the collar of his shirt, up his face, to the tip of his ears, and I couldn't help but smile. Taking that moment of silence, the boy quickly coughed dropping his hand, and I slowly released my own from his cheek bringing it down into my lap. Staring at my hands, I broke the awkward silence,

"Thanks... for my, um, hand."

The boy shook his head up and down,

"Um..yeah..I-I mean.. It-it was no prob-blem."

Still smilling since his uneasiness was quite funny, we both sat there, the awkward silence once again coming back. After a moment of thick tension the boy once again began to stutter,

"So- Sin-since you..you're all fixed now- are...are you goin-g to le-"

He was cut off though when a sound rang throughout the bathroom, and I looked down quite shocked. The boy took a moment before tilting his head,

"Ar-Are you hungry?"

I thought about food, and with the image in my mind, my stomach once again growled giving him the answer.

"I'll take that as a yes." He muttered.

Slowly getting up, he tapped his foot against his leg before coughing,

"Would yo-you like to stay for di-dinner?"

No matter what language it was, the word food is universal. Rapidly shaking my head, I couldn't contain my excitment,

"Yes!!"

Heading out of the bathroom, I followed him into the kitchen where he gestured me to sit. Jumping into the chair, I sat down once again fascinated by the structure much like I had been when at the cafe with Suho. Suho, I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing and while my mind wondered for a second a question brought me back to reality. I looked up at the boy who was rummaging through a big box looking object,

"Sorry what did you say?"

The boy grabbed a bag and pulled it out placing it on the counter. Opening it, he began to pull things out of the bag and I leaned forward curious,

"I as-sked if there's anythin-ng you can-n't have."

I thought about it for a moment before shaking my head,

"No, as long as its edible I guess."

Still curious, I watched as he then took the boxes of what I assumed was different foods and placed them onto the counter. Turning, he then moved to a cabinet, his hands running over the surface before coming to a stop on a handle pulling it open. Reaching around, he pulled out a bowl and slowly walked back to the counter placing it down. Now fully leaning across the table, I watched as his hand went to a drawer pulling out a round silver looking object. Moving back to the food, he began dumping it into the large bowl, I think is what he called it, and mixed it all together. Finally finished, he walked over to the table placing the large bowl in the middle and I leaned over it my eyes wide. Going back around to grab utensils, I sat impatient as he finally came back handing me what Suho had refered to earlier as a spoon, and a set of weird looking sticks.

"What are these?"

I was curious as to what the use of these silver things would be.

"What the s-spoon or t-the chopsticks?"

I stared down at the foreign object,

"Chopsticks," I repeated.

"Yeah, yo-you know t-to pick u-up the fo-food."

I watched in awe as the boy in front of me reached forward using his 'chopsticks' to pick up food and brought it to his mouth with ease. I tried to copy his movements, but the things deemed themselves foes when the food kept slipping out of my grasp. I tried multiple times before a growl rumbled through my chest, and I huffed out air annoyed.

"You al-alright?" The boy asked with a chuckle and I just furrowed my brows,

"I'm fine."

I once again tried and finally picking something up, I innerly screamed in joy bringing it to my mouth. Coming closer, I couldn't wait to eat and just as I was about to, the food slipped dropping to the table. I groaned and dropping the chopsticks down, I picked up the spoon totally over it. Grabbing the bowl, I dug the spoon in and brought it to my face. Looking up at the boy who was calmly eating, I enhaled the foreign food before warily placing it into my mouth chewing. Taking a moment, my eyes widened before I once again grabbed a spoonful shoving it into my mouth.

"I kno-w it-it isn't much, but I-I hop-pe it tastes alright."

I grabbed another spoonful,

"It tastes delicious."

I watched as he smiled and for the next couple of minutes we sat there eating. Swalling my last bite, I sat the spoon down, trying my best to breath normal. Hearing something move, I watched as the boy began to stand up, grabbing the utensils and placing them in the now empty bowl. I also stood up, following him,

"Do you need help?"

The boy shook his head,

"It's fi-fine I-I got it."

Nodding, I followed him to the sink and watched as he turned the water on cleaning the dishes,

"Um i-is it o-ok if yo-you didn't um st-stare."

I tilted my head to the side,

What does to stare mean?

Not knowing, I just turned walking back to the counter. Sitting, I waited until the boy was finished, watching as he wipped his hands before he walked over to me standing awkwardly. Knowing that I should probably leave, I stood up allowing him to walk me to the door. Opening the door, I took a step out turning to face the boy who was resting against the wood.

"Th-thanks for sa-saving me um earlier."

I smiled lifting my hand,

"Thanks for fixing my hand. Oh and for the food."

The boy shook his head,

"It's fi-fine."

Ready to turn and leave, I took a step hesitating before turning back around and catching the door before it shut. The boy seemed a bit shocked his mouth going agape before tilting his head upward,

"May I come again?" I asked and I listened as he drew in a sharp breath.

It was silent for a couple of seconds before his head dropped his voice low,

"Wh-Why me?"

I looked at him, once again taking in all that he was, the memories of the past filling my mind. Stepping forward, I placed my three middle fingers to the center of his forehead,

"Because I vowed to protect you, Luhan."

Taking a step back, I turned around disappearing into the darkness.

Now what do I do?

I was aimlessly walking around watching as the lights from earlier seemed to glow furociously, flickering all around me. I tried my best to take it all in, the lights, the noise, the people. If anything the amount had doubled, the sidewalks becoming compacted with bodies, and while most were just normal townspeople, some were very peculiar. I watched in fascination as every once in awhile a group of people would walk by their words slurred, their bodies drooping, some falling all over the place, others falling over each other. It was weird, they seemed normal, but for some reason it was if they were possessed. One dropped a bottle in front of me, and I picked it up glacing at it with curiousity. Sniffing it, I dropped it the smell obnoxious.

Gross

Then something cought my attention. It was so small that I doubt anyone would have noticed, but feeling a shiver run down my spine, I stopped looking around. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, however something was tickling me at the back of my throat. Once again looking, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and watched as something flickered. Though small, I walked foreward feeling myself be led to the side of the building. Looking down the alley way, I felt a breeze and my eyes flickered when a shadow bounced off the walls. Feeling the breeze disappear, I took a second before once again moving forward. Looking around I was feeling that maybe it was just my imagination until my foot caught on something. Looking down, I turned to find a body lying in front of me. in my breath, I leaned down,

"Sir?"

There was no answer and touching his skin,

His skin is ice cold.

With the touch, his head fell to the side and I looked in horror,

"It couldn't be..."

My fingers moved on there own, touching the side of his neck where a huge gash of a bite mark layed.

"No..it couldn't."

Before I had the chance to fully think, the loud sound of banging and shuffling brought me back to reality and I quickly ducked, rushing out of the alley way. Not paying attention, I ran into a body and hearing a groan I immediatly apologized,

"I'm so sorr-"

I cut myself off however when I looked up to find a familiar face looming down on me,

"Why if it isn't the pretty new girl in town."

I watched as Lay looked down at me, his eyes glossed, and found it very similar to the people earlier. If I could recall they were considered..

"Are you drunk?" I asked and he just laughed, his breath making my nose cringe.

"Yes. No. Maybe- haha."

He wrapped his arms around me and I tried to push him away as gently as I could hoping to not harm him,

"Can you let go?"

He ignored my question and instead looked around,

"Where's Suho hm? Get bored of you already."

More laughter followed. Looking down at me he his lips,

"If you want I can show you around, if you know what I mean."

This time I shoved him away annoyed, and he staggered back caught off guard,

"No I don't know what you mean, nor do I intend to."

Thinking back at the man in the alleyway I looked at the drunk young man in front of me,

"Besides I would go home as soon as I could if I were you. It's not safe at night."

I watched as he laughed again, staggering towards me,

"Aww are you worried about me."

Stopping in front of me, he placed his hands down on my shoulder harsh, his face turning serious,

"If anything, you should worry about yourself."

Leaning towards me, I felt his breath rake across my face,

"The big bad wolf just might eat you up."

I rolled my eyes at his choice of words, and he leaned back again cracking into laughter. Knowing that I let this go on for too long I was about to throw him off of me until a wail rung out stopping everyone around dead cold. We all looked towards the source to find a girl shaking, her face pale and her hand shaking wildly towards the alley way,

"He- He's dead!!! The man is DEAD!!! Somebody help!!!"

Feeling the grip on me loosen, I took the opportunity to push the drunkard away. He staggered and before he could react, I walked away pushing myself against the crowd that was walking hastily towards the girl and the body. The image of the wound filled my mind and I tried my best to breath. Once again feeling the hair on the back of my neck stand, I couldn't help but wonder,

Was there another wolf?

Seeing as already two people have unsubscribe alone just from this chapter, I hope it is not because how I portrayed Lay, if so I would just like to say that I like Lay equally to how much I like every other member of Exo. I am just trying to use as many Exo members as I can in this story and apologize if I have offended anyone who may have felt that Lay shouold not be portrayed this way. Although no one has said anything of it, just looking how two people have dropped the story from this chapter, I would just like to clear the air. I love Lay, he's super talented and amazing just as all the exo members are and is only used in name for his character. So please do not unsubscribe, it hurts as an author wondering if it is the story, or how its written, etc. And please feel free to leave comments to let me know how you feel towards the story. Sorry for the rant.
