Epilogue: Jimin and Soobin

The Lost Time

From: Soobin Noona

Baby, I have an early meeting today. I don’t want to wake you up, sorry. Can you go to the Water Park first? Jungmin has been nagging to go to Water Park, and since it is indoor I don’t think there is problem to visit it on this weather. I will meet you as soon as the meeting ends. I am sorry, I love you~

Jimin sighed when he woke up, only to found an empty spot beside him and a short message in his phone. This was the life of being Kim Corp. leader’s husband, had a wife that needed to put work in front of everything. It wasn’t like he wasn’t busy with his job, but being a music-producer, his schedule was a lot more flexible that his wife’s.

He washed up and went straight to Jungmin’s room, a room that painted with grey and had many his son’s favorite stuffs on it. Jungmin liked martial art and music a lot, so Jimin bought him a guitar and keyboard and placed a human-sized doll for him to practice his punch and kick. He just hoped that his son’s won’t kick one of his music instruments. Eight years old kid was sleeping soundly on his bed, completely didn’t realize that his dad was in his room. Jimin shook his body, “Jungmin-ah, wake up.”

“Hm. What’s up, Dad?”

“Where is your good morning?” Jimin asked his son jokingly.

“Good morning, Dad. It’s weird to see you wake me up.”

Jimin nodded and ruffled his son’s black hair. “Good morning to you too,” he replied as he sat on Jungmin’s bed, “Holiday is coming to the end, and we didn’t go on a trip this year. I am sorry, you must be feeling bored here. It just, year-end performances were important, I can’t let my new group down, right? As for mom, I think you already understand about the company. Yoongi Hyung even needs to work harder.”

“Practically Dad, today is the last day of holiday.”

“I know. And I also know that you really want to go Water Park despite the cold weather. Do you want to go there today?”

The eight years old kid’s face lit up once he heard ‘Water Park’ came out from his dad. “Really, Dad?” he asked, still didn’t believe it. He knew that his parents were always busy, especially on the New Year. His Dad needed to make sure the music-shows went perfectly while his mom needed to make sure the New Year event on department store. And when he saw his dad nodded his head, he couldn’t be happier. At least, he still had some fun in the holiday. But then, he realized that something was missing. “Is mom still sleeping? Let’s not wake her up. When I woke up in the midnight last night to look for some water, I saw her in living room, busy with her laptop and papers. We can go after lunch or when mom is up already.”

Hearing those words, Jimin didn’t have heart to tell his son that Soobin was out already for a sudden meeting. “Mom told me that we can go first and she will follow us.”

“Mom is in office, right, Dad?”

The dad just nodded in guilt. He hated it, to see Jungmin’s face turned to be a disappointed one. He knew that his son wanted to go to somewhere with his mom, something that he rarely got since Soobin’s office works were like a mountain, so many. But as a Dad, Jimin was willingly to do everything to make Jungmin happy. “Mom will follow us as soon as she is done with the work. Do you want me to call Hyejung or Jungshin or Seungho? Or maybe the twin?” he asked and Jungmin replied by shook his head. Jimin understood, all Jungmin wanted was a family vacation. He ruffled his hair before got up, “Now, go wash up and prepare your stuffs. We are going to Water Park!”

Jimin went downstairs as he looked at the family pictures that were hanging on the wall on his right side. There was his graduation picture with Soobin, it was also the day they started to going out since he asked her for a date afterward. Beside it was their wedding picture. It had been almost ten years since he took the picture, but his love for her never change. Then a picture when Soobin gave a birth of Jungmin, followed by Jungmin’s birthday, from the first one until the eighth one last year. He arrived to the kitchen and saw two bowls of porridge on the table and a note that was written on pink paper, Soobin’s favorite.

My boys, I made you porridge earlier. Eat well, okay? Jungmin-ah, mom will meet you as soon as the meeting ends. And , heat the porridge first before you eat it, I love you.

  • Soobin

He chuckled at the note that his wife wrote. Soobin never changed, even though he was busy with work, she would always spare a time to cook breakfast and dinner for her family, even though she couldn’t eat with them. She said that her love in the food was a replacement of her when she couldn’t eat breakfast with them. And the nick-name, she really loved to give him cute—and sometimes embarrassing—nick name even since they were kid. But … was his favorite, he liked that name a lot, compared to other nick-names that she gave to him.

As he heated the porridge, his mind went to how hard it was to win Soobin’s heart. Soobin was two years older than him, and she always saw her as kid who was a bestfriend of her brother. She was also popular girl, with many boys were chasing her. He remembered that he once had a big-fight with Hoseok when he confessed that he had crush on Taehyung’s noona, since Hoseok thought that he liked Jaekyung, Taehyung’s biggest sister who was four years older than him. But all the hard-times that he felt to get her heart were worth it, since in the end, the girl accepted his confession.

“Dad, Mom cooked us porridge?” Jeongmin asked as he read the notes that Soobin wrote. Jimin snapped to reality and nodded. “Let’s eat, Dad.”

They arrived in Water Park at 11AM, since Jimin forgot where he put his favorite swimming-shorts and the car-key and both of them spent almost two hours to looke for it. When they were walking to locker-room, Jungmin spotted a familiar figure and tugged on his dad’s sleeveless t-shirt. “Dad, is that mom?” he asked, pointed on a woman in blue one-piece swimsuit who was sitting on a beach-chair near the pool.

Jimin looked at the girl before shook his head, “I don’t think it is. Mom said—“

“Mommy!”

Jungmin ran to the woman’s direction, not letting Jimin finished his sentence. He had no choice but followed him and instantly apologized to the woman. “I am sorry. My son thought—“ he stopped when the woman took off his  glasses. “—I thought you said you have meeting.”

“And I thought you can recognize me instantly. I am sad,” she put on a sad face before ruffled Jungmin’s hair, “Even this kid know me better that you do.”

“Noona I am sorry,” he apologized as he leaned closer to her ear and whispered, “When Jungmin pointed on you, I thought ‘Oh, what is a pretty girl doing there alone? Is she waiting for her boyfriend? What a bad man, letting a pretty girl alone like that.’ But then I found out that the pretty girl is you—Oh, man, you look even prettier than Miss Korea, and the bad man is me.”  Then he pecked her right cheek.

Soobin blushed as she chuckled on Jimin’s whisper before pinched his chubby cheeks. For Soobin, many things changed from Jimin, in a good way. Before, he was just a shy boy but now he was a real man. Never in her life had she thought about married with a younger guy but the guy in front of her melt her heart and made the mighty Soobin fell for him, hard.

“Mom, Dad, can we play in water now, please?”

Jungmin’s words stopped Soobin’s thought as she saw Jimin dragged him to change his clothes. When he was done, he asked the same question. And it took her some minutes to answer since she was stunned by Jimin’s body. “Only if you learn how to swim for dad for some minutes first,” she finally replied.

“Don’t drool, I know I am hot,” Jimin whispered.

“Put on some clothes. People are watching.”

Jimin smirked as he put her arm on Soobin’s right shoulder. “It is Water Park, dear. Isn’t it normal? Just let them see,” he said before buried his head on her neck and whispered, “But don’t worry, you are the only one who can feel it, Noona.” He just chuckled as Soobin’s face turned into crimson red. “I don’t think we should teach Jungmin how to swim today.”

Then the couple could feel water splashed on them. Jungmin just giggled, “Mom, Dad, can you guys stop dating for now?”

“See? I think we should just play with him now, Noona,” Jimin said before he took Jungmin to a big-tube slide. After few steps, he stopped and turned around only to drag Soobin together with him. “Let’s slide together, three of us. And let’s see who scream loudest~”

Three of them played together until they felt hunger in his stomach. They ate together in a round beach-table. The parents could do nothing but smiled as they saw happy face on Jungmin. “Mom, Dad, I really have fun today,” he confessed as he stuffed a piece of meat to his little mouth, “Oh, Dad, I want a muscular body like you too! Can I get it?”

“Sure. You need to work harder, and never skip your taekwondo practice. Oh, don’t forget healthy food that mom always cook for us too,” he said as he ruffled Jungmin’s hair.

When he was done with his food, Jungmin asked whether he could get some ice-cream for desert. At first, Soobin didn’t allow him to since the weather was still cold. But Jimin reassured her that it was okay for Jungmin to eat some ice cream—since it was his day today. Both of them watched Jungmin who went to the ice cream counter from a far. “Baby~~ Ah, it has been a while since I called you baby,” Jimin asked as he rested his head on Soobin’s shoulder, “Look at Jungmin’s happy expression. We just spared few hours to take him play like this. Going to a Water Park like this, it isn’t that special, to be honest. But it means a lot to him, to spend his time with both of us.”

Soobin ruffled Jimin’s brown hair as he took a breath. She always loved it when Jimin was being clingy on her like this. And she needed to admit, that everything that he said was true. Jungmin didn’t need an expensive holiday, he just needed his parents. “Do you think we should take him out ore often?”

“I think so. It doesn’t need to be expensive or far, but both of us need to be with him. Because he needs us as parents. He often confessed that he envied his cousins, because they spend many times with their parents. And I think it is our fault, for being too busy.”

“You know dear?” Soobin straighten her position, “These days I want to talk with you whether we should get another kid. But I think we should pay more attention to Jungmin.”

“Noona,” Jimin called Soobin again, “Why did you pick me instead of handsome seniors in university?”

“To be honest, at first I accepted your date offer because Taehyung said he will burn all my figurines if I reject it,” Soobin said the matter-of-fact and continued, “But then after few dates I realized that you are the right one for me. You seemed clumsy and cute but you are many inside. I know you are the one who can tame me, the rock-headed Soobin. And you too, why did you like me?”

“I don’t know. It just happened.”

“Yah. I answered with long explanation and you just answer me with two short sentence? How mean!” Soobin pouted.

Jimin just chuckled as he pinched Soobin’s chubby cheeks, “Because loving you doesn’t need any reason. If I say that I fell for you because you are beautiful, then I am idolizing you. If I say that it is because you are smart, then I adore you. If it because you are rich, then I am a gold-digger. If it is because you are kind to me, it is a lie,” he said before landed a short peck on her lips. “I love you because you are Kim—Ah, no, Park Soobin. And I will love you, until you are no longer a CEO, until you have no gorgeous body—well, you will always have it until the end—until this hair turned white, until Jungmin find another girl that is as awesome as her mother.”

“Park Jimin?”

“Yes?”

“I hate you.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I love freedom, but you trapped me in your heart.”

“You are worse than your brother, really.”

“But you like me right?”

“No.”

“Meanie!”

“I love you, Noona.”

“I love you too.”

Little did they knew, Jungmin was watching them with a big bowl of chocolate ice cream on his hand. He wanted to eat the ice cream together with his parents. Nothing could make him happier than being together with his parents and saw both of them loving each other. He hoped he could feel the love and see them being in love forever, until he found another girl that similar with her mother.
