It’s midterms week, but I tried my best to write and update… so I apologize in advance if this chapter seems rushed~

Anyways, Yunjae’s POV & time’s the same with the previous chapter so, enjoy~

14. Still Brothers, Still Friends

I went to the coffee shop as soon as I took the afternoon off from work. Entering, I spot my hyung already there with the usual cappuccino he always got for us. I calmly made my way to his table and greeted him with a smile as soon as I met his gaze and sat down across him.

“You’re here early.” Taewoong said to me with his usual smiling face, taking a quick sip from the plastic straw of his cappuccino.

“I had the afternoon off. What about you? Aren’t you busy?” I told him, sipping mine as well.

He nodded a bit, replying, “I am, but I can finish them once I’m at home. I just really wanted to spend the afternoon with you.”

His eyes looked really sincere as I examined them. I couldn’t help but avert from them, feeling bad for some reason. Taewoong hyung had always been a good brother and a good friend. I could also sense his honesty towards Siwon, which makes me hate myself and admire my hyung even more.

“Yunjae, I know what I said to you before… But I really love her. I want you to know that I can’t stop myself from doing so.” He stated after a moment of silence, having this solemn feel as he spoke, staring into my eyes.

“I’m won’t stop you. It’s still Siwon’s choice.” I responded calmly, taking another sip of my cappuccino before continuing, “I, myself know that you’re a good guy and I know that you’ll be good to her.”

Taewoong had this look of surprise on his face, speaking carefully to me, “Ya, if you’re doing this again because you’re my dongsaeng, don’t. I don’t want to hurt you like what I did to you before. When we kissed, it just felt right, you know…”

I sighed heavily, shaking my head and then answering him softly, “No, this time it’s different. I can tell that I’m not the person for Siwon and Siwon’s not the person for me. You on the other hand, you can be the one for her as long as you keep her smiling.”

He reached out for my hand and squeezed it, talking with this concerned tone of voice, “Yunjae, as your hyung, you’re my priority over things. I don’t want my dongsaeng to get hurt in the process.”

“It’s really okay, hyung. Time’s change and people change. I’m glad that Siwon realized this.” I told him half-smiling, squeezing his hand back. “I’m glad that I realized mine as well.” I added.

He slowly removed his hand on mine, still looking at me with his eyes getting all watery as he tried to keep his composure while speaking, “Since when did you sound so mature? I don’t think I’m fit to be your hyung anymore.”

“Aissh, don’t cry here or people will get the wrong idea.” I groaned, preventing myself from doing the same as I kept sipping some cappuccino, avoiding glances from some of the people inside the coffee shop.

“You’re right. I’m just amazed at how you and Siwon grew over the years.” Taewoong said with a light laugh, rubbing the tears off his eyes.

“And you, you seemed to be getting younger.”

“I think I am too.”

The both of us spent the afternoon laughing off like idiots and chatting over stuff concerned about our family, Siwon, her family, and our friends. It was really nice how me and my brother can talk over things and avoid any bad mouthing or physical violence. I just really love my hyung for always being there for me and being honest with me. We ended our meeting with him saying ‘I love you’ before dropping me off in front of my apartment in the evening.

Yawning loudly in my room as I continued to read the reports my secretary sent me before taking the afternoon off, I was startled upon hearing the newly installed door bell. I stood up and went downstairs, thinking who that might be. I didn’t order pizza or Chinese food since I already ate the food hyung made for me a while ago.

Reaching the front door, I opened it and felt no surprise or whatsoever seeing Siwon in front of me.

“It’s you.” I simply uttered, quickly giving her way to come in, “Come in.”

She slightly bowed her head and went in. She didn’t seem like her usual loud self from what I can sense. Closing the door, I went and stood in front of her in the middle of the intersection between the dining room and the living room.

“Did you eat dinner already? I only have some chicken left that hyung brought me a while ago if you want.” I told her, looking down at her with a simply smile on.

Siwon looked up at me as she started to speak carefully, “You spoke with oppa a while ago?”

I nodded and then went to the living room where I sat on the couch. I waved my hand at her as I signaled her to sit with me.

She continued to talk as she made her way beside me, sounding quite anxious, “I haven’t talked to him yet… I don’t think he wants me to know what went down with you two a while ago… Mind telling me?”

I turned to her and saw her tired eyes. Knowing Siwon, I could tell that she’s worried that hyung and I are not in good terms, which is false. “Well, he doesn’t want you to know because…” I stopped my sentence, making her curious as I decided to cheer her up.

“B-Because…?”

I blurted out with a serious tone, “Because we had a fist fight.”

“What?!” Siwon shouted in disbelief with her eyes widened, leaning toward me.

I grinned, shaking my head as I held both her shoulders as I straightened her up, “I’m kidding.”

“Bastard… Are you trying to kill me?!” She stated with annoyance, pushing me as she faced the other way. That’s the Siwon I know and love.

“I just wanted to lighten up the mood, sorry…” I sighed, rubbing the back of my neck and leaning back against the couch as I started to speak again, “Don’t worry, I’m aware of what went down with you two and hyung and I are all right.”

Siwon turned to me slowly, having this expression of a sad little girl. It seems that she’s all ears, so I continued to speak.

“I don’t want you to be sorry, in fact, I’m glad that you’ve realized your feelings all on your own. I should be the one apologizing, being a coward all these years for not fighting for what I’m feeling, instead of hiding from you and preventing me from meeting you.” I said solemnly as I kept my gaze with hers, adding, “It was actually a good choice for me to have left you with hyung. He’s always been sincere with his feelings for you.”

“Yunjae, I can’t deny the fact that I did cheat on you… but never will I deny that I did love you too.” Siwon softly said as tears started to fall from her eyes slowly one by one.

I reached out to her face, rubbing my thumb gently onto her cheek as tears fell. “I did love you too and always will. I’m really happy seeing you mature into a wiser person and just being happy with your life.” I said to her solemnly, smiling as her hand went over my hand over her cheek.

“You’ve always been there for me, cleaning up my mess during our younger years. I’m really thankful to have been with you, Yunjae.” She sniffled, leaning against my forehead with hers.

I pulled her in for a tight embrace, letting myself cry silently in her arms as she did the same, burying our faces onto each others’ shoulders. Somehow, it felt refreshing and nice after we did this. We pulled away from each other after an hour or so, and stared at each other, holding out a calming smile as our eyes looked puffy and red.

I spoke in a cheerful manner, “Still friends, right?”

“Best friends.” Siwon corrected, punching my shoulder with force and then adding, “But you’re still a bastard, got that?”

“Aissh, I know, I know… Geez, why do you still punch like man after so many years?” I groaned, rubbing my pained shoulder.

Siwon stuck her tongue out while she giggled and then her expression turned into a calmer one, telling me, “Anyways, I hope you figure out your feelings soon. You never know that the one for you is just around the corner.”

“I will soon, I hope.” I muttered, looking down at my feet as I crossed my arms over my chest.

“I know you will.” She cheered, grinning and giving me a wink. Knowing her, I think I know what she meant by the one just around the corner. She added, disturbing my train of thought, “Well, it’s late. Hope to hang out with you and the other guys soon.”

She stood up and I stood up after her, speaking, “I hope so too. Want me to call you a cab?”

“No thanks, I can manage. I’ll just show myself to the door.”

“All right, take care.”

Siwon hugged me and gave me a gentle kiss on my cheek before pulling away. “Thanks.”

I smiled at her as she made her way out of my apartment. Alone once again, I walked back upstarts to my room and sat onto my chair, in front of my work. I really felt relief and happiness after the two talks from the two people I extremely care about. Somehow, I couldn’t wait to tell Junhee what happened. He’s the only one who could give me good advices. He’s always been good talking about matters like this, even though he says that he’s not good with his own.

As much as I wanted to call him now, I think I’ll have to save that for tomorrow since I still have these goddamn paperwork to worry about.
