Woof
Dad of the Year“Daddy!” My daughter marched into the room, dragging a small plush poodle on a leash behind her. I trailed in the back, watching her in amusement.
“Yeah baby girl?” Yongguk turned down the beat he was working on and wheeled his chair around.
My daughter climbed into his lap and pulled the dog up into her arms. “I want a dog.”
“You have a dog.” He squeezed the toy and imitated a dog bark.
“Nooo~” She giggled. “A real dog.”
“A real dog?” Yongguk eyed her skeptically.
“Yes, please.” She wound her little arms around his neck and I could see him fighting the urge to melt.
“I don’t think you’re old enough for a dog yet, baby girl.” He told her gently.
“I am!” She protested.
“Are you gonna wash it when it rolls around in the mud and gets all dirty? And feed it its stinky dog food? And clean up its poop?” Yongguk asked.
“Noooo.”
“Well then who is?”
“You and Mommy!” She declared with a bright grin.
“Did Mommy say you could have a dog?” He spared a glance at me as I leaned in the doorway.
“She told me to ask you.”
“Well you can have one when you’re old enough to take care of it.” Yongguk told her, and her pouty face quickly emerged. “Maybe you can ask Mommy for a little brother to play with instead.”
“Mommy-“ She began in her chirpy little voice, and I held a hand out to stop her.
“Nope, don’t ask Mommy anything. “
“But Mommy~” It was Yongguk who pouted sadly at me.
I rolled my eyes and turned to walk out of the room.
A.N: Sorry that it's been a minute. I had to knock out some more tests and stuff, but I've got a little break in my course load before it's time for finals. I tried to decide a name for the little girl- maybe Lyric? I feel like that name is pretty and relevant too. Anyway, thanks for reading! And voting! ^.^
