FG Guide To: Apply Fics"y" Authors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The main reason I don't apply to fics that often anymore is because most authors now really need to learn to calm their .
The thing that irritates me the most about these authors is they blame their attitude on being blunt. Yes, people who are blunt easily come off as rude (such as myself as many of you have noticed haha!) however, if someone calls you out as being rude you don't flip at them and tell them 'it's because I'm blunt, get over it'. , no. You say 'I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out like that.' Do not ever excuse your iness/rudeness, apologize yes, excuse no. It has happened multiple times to me, that people have said I came off as rude or y and I apologize to them because I honestly didn't mean to sound like that AND I feel bad that I hurt their feelings.
Honestly, if someone is truly blunt in real life they should be used to the fact that they come off as blunt and it should be habitual of them to apologize. Do not use being blunt as an excuse when you're just being a and you know you're being a .
The second excuse I see is that someone is feeling stressed out. If you're stressed out why are you reading applicants and reviewing them? That just adds to the stress and can raise your annoyance you if you happen upon an OC you don't particularly like. Would you tell someone in real life the exact same thing you just wrote in their review to their face? Chances are, you probably won't. If you won't say something to someone to their actual face, don't say it over the internet. Seriously.
The main thing I don't understand is why "y" authors get so many applicants, personally I wouldn't apply for someone that has a bad attitude. that, I have better things to do than deal with your bs.
Remember the Golden Rule children: treat others the way you would want to be treated.
If You Are Writing: Don't be "y", what did they do to you? Before you post a review (or even a comment!) step back, re-read it and ask yourself if not only you think it's appropriate but ask how you would react to someone saying those exact words to you.
If You Are Applying: Please don't apply to "y" authors, it's just going to fuel them and many peoples feelings will be hurt. Protect yourself and others. AFF should be a place to escape not somewhere you are saddened from.
