Are You Asking For Too Much?
FG Guide To: Apply FicsAre You Asking For Too Much?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The title probably makes no sense, but I at those so let me explain what I mean.
I've learned that less is more when you have applyers fill out their app. Don't ask for over 8 likes, dislikes, hobbies and what not because you have to remember ALL of that. And if you have like 7-9 applyers that's 56-72 likes you have to remember, just likes! I'm not even adding dislikes and everything else.
Personally I would only ask for one or two hobbies, not many people have five dedicated hobbies, and it also forces the applyer to come up with more unique ideas since you ask for less things!
Don't give unlimited for personality (and maybe backgrond) because you will get essays. Essays aren't that great since I rarely find ones that are actually good and not repeatitive. The only thing I would give unlimited for is trivia, because that's fun and let's you get to know random things about the OC which can help a lot.
Another thing is when asking for friends, I really don't like it when I HAVE to pick three friends or more. Once again if you have 7-9 applyers that's 21-27 friends, not including best friend(s), and you probably are expected to have all the friends show up.
Quick Math For You'd Have To Remember (For 5 Applyers - since that's the most popular number)
Likes (5-8)
25-40
Dislikes (5-8)
25-40
Hobbies (4)
20
Habits (4)
20
Bestfriends (1-3)
5-15
Friends (3-5)
15-25
If You Are Writing: The numbers above are all the average numbers people ask for with the most picked amount of applyers, it's actually not that bad but the numbers I usually use (and it's worked well for me so far) are: Likes+Dislikes 3-4 | Hobbies 1-2 | Habits 2-3 | Bestfriend 1 | Friend 1-2 It may not seem like enough but you get better things out of the applyer instead of getting stereotypical likes like animals - everyone likes animals~
If You Are Applying: I've also discovered whenever I apply for someone who asks for TONS of things like this the story doesn't last long. Does that really have to do with them asking for tons of things? Probably not but it's just what I noticed.
