One Group Only Fics

Lol whut am I saying?

I couldn't come up with a legit title but I meant apply fics that center around a certain (typically boy) group. Obviously for some stories it makes perfect sense but sometimes it's just ... annoying.

Throwing them under the bus every other apply fic is an EXO one, good for them they have fans! But when people make them the only love interest group in a Girl Group Fic makes me rather annoyed and kinda makes no sense, especially when your group isn't under SM. The only time it makes sense is when the plot is something more original than a Girl Group. I've seen certain stories (that I've applied for so yes I am kind of one of those people?) that actually have amazing plots and it makes a lot of sense just to have it center around one group.

However it doesn't make sense all of the time.

Honestly if you only know ONE GROUP (not saying that's with everyone! But I have seen authors reply when people ask if they can use another love interest say that is the only group they actually know anything about) I personally wouldn't start or apply for a fic, the point is to have a mash of tons of idols to make a story more interesting. Personally I am more realistic - or try to be - with my writings and applications and I try to give myself a variety of idols not just one group. Just using say SHINee as my best friend, friend, rival (?) and love interest is not only boring but kind of messy and it's not fair to other applicants that may be chosen. Congrats you're that jerk that stole an entire group for your own selfish needs tsk tsk!

No I don't know every group, personally I'm more comfortable with SM Artists (that aren't EXO cause I don't know which is why I stopped applying to those fics since I realized I get super confused... too many members how do you Exotics do it?) and I say that I prefer SM Artists in my fics but I don't make it mandatory to ONLY chose them. I don't pick OC's based on their love interest I pick them based on whether the OC is compatable with my story. I have OC's I write about now I feel incredibly uncomfortable writing about their love interest because I know nothing about them, but I it up - it's their story too not just yours! - and ask them for a good personality and I just write.

If You Are Writing: 1) If you only know one group don't make one, you'll get confused when people start to put other idols in their friends and what not. 2) If it's a Girl Group fic at least have love interests just be in the company not singleing out one group, who knows that one OC you were looking for might not come to you because the applyer doesn't know that group!
