Nino could not believe his luck at all. It had to be him that ended up with the baby on the doorstep. But why someone would give it to him, he couldn't understand that part at all. He liked to believe that someone just dropped it at a random doorstep, but things like that only happened in storybooks.

Yet, finding a baby on your doorstep was also something that came out of storybooks. 

Nino didn't know what to do, but he knew he had to get to work before Manager-san yelled at him, so as soon as the baby was fast asleep, Nino took the duffle bag full of diapers and bottles and the basket with the baby in it with him to work. The baby had to be asleep so that Nino could try to get to the Arashi lounge without being noticed, and he silently prayed that the baby stayed asleep. 

When Nino was outside the doors to J-Storm, he looked down at the blanket covering the baby. "You better stay asleep," he warned. "I'll never forgive you if you wake up." 

Completely on nerves, Nino walked through the lobby and took the elevator to his floor without a problem and without many people noticing the weird things he carried with him. It was Nino, so mostly everyone was used to him having weird things with him. When they finally got to the lounge, Nino was relieved to find it empty, so he hurried in, closed the door, and leaned against it. "I made it," he said. "I'm glad that part's over." 

Nino set the duffle bag on the table and put the baby basket on the couch just as the baby was waking up. It didn't seem to cry or anything, but it looked around curiously until it's eyes met Nino. The baby couldn't be more than just a couple months old, Nino decided. It was probably about four months old, which he thought was a little old to be given up. He thought babies were given up as soon as they were born. "So baby," Nino said. "Where did you come from?"

Just as soon as he said that, then the door opened and the remaining four Arashi members walked in. Nino paniced and covered the baby with the blanket as he stood up. "Minna!" he smiled at them. "Ohayou! How are you?"

Everyone stared at Nino in shock. "Nino?" Ohno asked. "You're here? You're usually the last one to show up."

Nino hesitated. "Yeah, well... I decided that I should come in early. We got a new single to learn, right? We should do that today?"

"Who's duffle bag is that?" Aiba asked curiously. 

Nino looked at it and looked back at them. "It's mine."

"Why did you bring a duffle bag?"

"No reason."

"There has to be a reason--"

"NO REASON!"

He must've spoken too loudly because as soon as he did then the baby whimpered, which made Nino freeze and try to cough to hide it. "Man," he complained. "How about them allergies, ne?"

Ohno walked up to him. "What are you hiding?"

"Nothing!" Nino exclaimed trying to stay calm. "Why do you think I'm hiding something?"

Ohno was now close enough to see the basket on the couch, and Nino prayed that the baby didn't move. "What's in the basket?" Ohno asked. 

"Nothing." Nino put his hand on the basket in case someone decided to come after him. "It's my stuff. Nothing important."

"Then why are you hiding?" Jun spoke up. 

Sho walked up to Nino. "Give me the basket."

"No," Nino said. 

"NINOMIYA!"

"DON'T YELL!" Nino told him. After he had said that, then the baby inside the basket moved and let out a whimper, and of course Sho heard and saw it. Before Nino had any time to really react, Sho had the basket out of Nino's hands and took it over to one of the dressing tables. "OI!" Nino yelled after him. "That's not yours! Give it back!"

"Oh my god!" Sho exclaimed when he lifted the blanket. Everyone crowded around him to see what was in the basket, and everyone looked just as shocked as Sho did. "It's a baby!"

"A baby!" Aiba repeated. "He's so cute!"

Ohno looked at Nino. "What are you doing with a baby?"

Nino sighed and finally admitted it. "I found it on my doorstep when I walked out this morning. It came with diapers and a lot of other stuff, along with a note saying it wasn't wanted."

"You're referring the baby as an 'it'," Jun commented.

"I don't know if it's a boy or a girl," Nino said. "And I'm kinda freaked out. I don't know what to do!" 

"Call the police."

"Call the hospital."

"Call an orphanage."

"Guys," Nino stopped them. "Can I just try to process the fact that I have a baby first before I do anything like that? But we can't tell Manager-san about this yet."

Sho shrugged. "Well, he's got a point about that. If we tell Manager-san, things could turn bad."

Aiba tried to pick the baby up then, but when he tried then the baby began to cry loudly. "Oh no!" Aiba cried. "Nino-chan!"

Nino froze. "I don't know--"

"Nino!" 

If Jun hadn't said anything, then it would've taken a little longer for Nino to go over to the baby and carefully take him in his arms. He was surprised at how light it was and how well and comfortable it fit in his arms. The baby continued to cry, but Nino bounced it carefully and rubbed its back trying to calm him down. "Don't cry," he said softly. "Don't cry please."

"Maybe he's hungry," Aiba suggested. 

"Or maybe it misses Mama," Nino said. "It won't calm down!" He could feel the tears from the baby soaking into his shirt, and Nino felt like crying himself. "How do you calm a baby down?"

"Try singing," Sho said. "That's what my mom did with me and my siblings. Whenever someone was crying, she'd sing and calm us down."

Aiba smiled and took his advice. "Hashiridase, hashiridase--"

"What are you doing?" 

"Let's sing 'Happiness'!" Aiba told them. "We need to practice that song anyway. Maybe it'll calm him down."

Ohno shrugged. "It's worth a try."

Nino carefully set the baby back down in the basket so that he could sing without having to hear the cries in his ear. Arashi didn't waste any time. 

"Mukaikaze no naka de nageite iru yori mo," Sho and Ohno sang. "Umaku iku koto wo souzou sureba itsuno hi ka kawaru toki ga kuru."

"Muchuu de ikitetara nanigenai koto de," Nino, Jun, and Aiba continued. "Ai ga kizutsuite tamerai nagara nando mo tachi agaruyo."

"Omoide no atosaki wo kangaetara sabishi sugiru ne."

"Sawagashii mirai ga mukou de kitto matteru kara."

Then all five began singing. "Hashiridase! Hashiridase! Asu wo mukae ni yukou. Kimi dake no oto wo kikaseteyo zenbu kanjiteruyo. Tomenaide! Tomenaide! Ima wo ugokasu kimochi. Donna ni chiisa na tsubomi demo hitotsu dake no Happiness!"

As they continued to sing, then the baby calmed down and gradually stopped crying until it was watching the men, curious as to what they were doing. Nino couldn't help but smile as he sang, because it worked. 

When they were done singing, the baby had stopped and kept staring at Nino with beautiful eyes. "Nino-chan," Aiba said. "Look! He thinks your his papa."

"Ohayou!"

Immediately, everyone turned around and stood in front of the basket to block it from Manager-san's view as he walked in. "Ohayou!" everyone called back. Nino felt nervous and scared again. 

"You're all up and awake this morning," Manager-san said. "Especcially you, Nino. I'm glad to see it. Well, I have a good surprise for all of you! You're given the day off! Enjoy it all, because tomorrow you'll all start on your new projects."

Nino couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief when the door closed behind Manager-san when he left. "Man," he groaned. "Thank goodness we have the day off."

"That just means we can spend the day trying to figure out where this baby came from," Ohno told him. "Let's go to the hospital. Maybe they can help us find out where he came from."
