Yunho nearly toppled down from his chair when Changmin burst through the door, throwing it open with a loud bang and causing him to drop the magazine he had in his hands. “What the—“
“Hyung—“ The younger man seemed breathless, trying to speak at the same time he was gasping for air. “BoA…airport…go…“
“What?” Yunho’s ears perked up the moment he heard the name of his best friend. “Dude, calm down and tell me what’s going on.”
Changmin placed a hand oo his chest and breathed in and out a few times. When he was finally coherent, he took a few steps forward and yanked Yunho out from the chair he was sitting on. “You have to go to the airport now. And when I mean now, I mean now!”
Yunho stared at the younger man, perplexed. “Whatever for?”
“Yeonhee told me that BoA’s leaving for Japan and she’s going there for good, hyung.”
There was a pause before Yunho choked out, “Why?”
“I don’t know, hyung! You’re her best friend, remember? You should know things! And you should go—“
There was no need for Changmin to tell Yunho what to do. Yunho made a beeline out from his room in a split second, snatched the car keys on the table and rushed out from his apartment.

He heaved a sigh of relief when he spotted the familiar figure of his best friend in the line, still waiting to enter the gates leading to her plane. Yunho hastened his steps immediately, his eyes never leaving the back figure of Kwon Boa. He grabbed her hand, an action done on reflex upon nearing her, and pulled her out from the line.
“What the heck?” BoA jumped in shock, trying to yank her hand out from his grasp but to no avail. “Why are you here?!”
“Why are you leaving without telling me?”
BoA felt her heart tighten.
“Please don’t go.” He pleaded. “Yeonhee said you’re never coming back,”
“I…”
“I’m sorry,” Yunho said, ignoring the glances people were throwing at them. “I’m sorry, I don’t even know what I’m sorry for, but I am. Can you not leave?”
BoA took a deep breath and ordered herself not to crumble under his touch. “I can’t do this anymore.”
He raised an eyebrow in confusion. “What do you mean?”
“It hurts, Yunho.” BoA’s voice softened and began to quiver. “It hurts very badly.”
“What hurts?” Yunho remained oblivious. “Tell me-“
The young lady wrenched her hand free from his grasp and glanced at Yunho. She told herself not to be such a coward that she could not look him in the eyes. “Why don’t you figure it out yourself? I have to go.”
She turned around, ready to leave. BoA barely took a step forward when she felt his hand around her wrist again. “Why are you like this? Did I do something to upset you?”
“My patience has its limit, Yunho.” BoA said, trying to keep her tone steady. “And it’s running out. I can’t wait for you anymore. It’s tiring, and it hurts.”
Yunho stared at his friend, completely dumbfounded. “I don’t get you, BoA-yah…”
“So be it.” She yanked her hand free again, fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall. “Goodbye, Yunho.”
Then, she walked away and towards the empty line, handing her passport and ticket to the stewardess waiting. BoA kept her head down, mumbling a quick ‘thank you’ to the stewardess when she returned her her things and rushed into the gates without once glancing behind.
Yunho’s heart screamed for him to stop her, but he remained rooted in his spot. With a pang of guilt and regret mashed together, he watched her leave.
When she was sure he would not follow her anymore, BoA slowed down her steps, clutching onto her chest and trying desperately to calm her pounding heart. The strong facade she showed replaced itself readily with her usual self, and finally giving in to her emotions, BoA sank into her knees and began to sob.
