Inevitably My Fate

Nothing But Bad Luck

Chapter 4:

Jae’s POV:

“Urg, why do you have to be here? I was enjoying my peace and quiet before you came and

ruined it and my outfit.” I said while I looked down at my clothes. My front was soaked in the

milk that was supposed to be in my stomach.

“Pffftt… I could really care less about the trash you’re wearing. My real concern is what are you

doing here?” Yongguk spat at me and I rolled my eyes.

“Isn’t it obvious? Oh wait, maybe it’s not to a donkey like you.” I said nonchalantly, I looked over

to the rest of his groupie and saw the familiar faces that had walked in to the café that day.

“I see your minions are following you again.” I noted to Yongguk and turned to them smiling.

“I hope he does pay you guys enough to be friends with a person like him.” And I saw Zelo gasp

and Daehyun snicker at my indirect hit on Yongguk.

“Why you little-“ He started through gritted teeth.

“Angel? Goddess Divine? I know you don’t have to announce it to the world.” I cut him off and I

reached down for the plate I was eating on and the fallen plastic cup on the ground.

“You still haven’t answered my question. Why the hell are you here at Syrina Academy?” He asked

as I shook my head.

Was he really this thick headed?

“Since you asked nicely, I’m a transfer to the freshman college classes here. DO YOU UNDERSTAND

NOW?” I answered his question and then exaggerated the last sentence as if I was talking to a

stupid person. Oh, excuse me, he is a stupid person never mind.

After it registered in his brain that I was a student here at Syrina, his mouth was left agape. I

chuckled and started to walk past him. I looked at his groupie.

“You guys should close that mouth of his or else a fly is going to think that his mouth is a nesting

area,” with that I left the garden leaving him stunned and the others impressed.

That should keep the smug jerk occupied for a little.

I retraced my steps and headed for the commons. I mingled a little and found Tae min in the

corner staring at a tall black haired guy.

Ahh… that must be the guy that Taemin likes.

I snuck over to Taemin, making sure that he couldn’t see me as I approached him from behind.

“Nice view Tae?” He nodded and I realized that he hadn’t fully been aware of my presence yet.

“You thinking about dirty little fantasies about your crush,” This time he whipped his head

around and I laughed at how red his cheeks were.

“Noona! You’re so mean!” He pouted and crossed his arms. He turned away from me and I giggled

at his childish acts. I ruffled his hair and finally he turned my way.

“Okay, I’m sorry Taeminnie. I just have a bad habit of making fun of people.” I confessed and he

sighed.

“I can’t wait until you like someone here so I can make fun of you too.” I looked at him with

shock on my face. Then suddenly we both burst out laughing.

Meanwhile back in the garden…

Yongguk’s POV

Right after Jae left, the others started to laugh. I turned to them still shocked. Did they not see

that this wasn’t a time to laugh?

“Yah! Guys! What the Hell! This isn’t the time for you guys to be laughing.” I stated seriously but

they all broke out into more fits of laughter. Even Himchan was chuckling at the situation that I

failed to see the humor in it.

“Hyung! You were completely shot down!” Daehyung admitted and the others tried to get their

breathing under control.

“By a girl! Hyung!” Youngjae was gasping for air leaning on Daehyun’s shoulder for support.

Against my will, I felt my cheeks flare red and my ears go hot.

“I can’t believe the great Bang Yongguk was upstaged by the same girl twice.” Zelo said and I

balled my fist.

“It’s alright Yonggukkie, We all have our times of embarrassment,” Himchan wrapped his arm

around my shoulder and tried to comfort me. It hit me then.

They’re right. I was totally knocked down by that waitress twice. I wasn’t going to just stand

there and take it. I lifted my head with a new goal in mind.

“Uh-oh, Yongguk has that look on his face.” Jongup noted and the laughter died down but the

smiles were still present.

“It’s the look that says someone’s screwed for life.” Himchan deciphered my emotions

effortlessly. An evil grin spread across my face and I headed for the commons, fully aware that

she would be there.

“Where’s he going?” Zelo asked as I was already at the door of the garden. I turned and smirked.

“I’m headed off to win a war.” That girl was in for a hell a lot of trouble.

Back in the commons…

Jae’s POV:

I was hanging out with Taemin and a few others that had walked up to us when suddenly, the

room quieted and heads turned. Being the normal person I am, I turned to see what had grabbed

everyone’s attention. When I saw the silhouette of Yongguk, I honestly thought nothing of it.

But when I saw the shadowed look on his face and the determination in his eyes, I just knew he

was looking for me.

From across the room I saw him walking slowly through the crowds of people who split down the

middle, making way for the king of the school. His eyes flashed around the room looking for his

prey and I resisted the urge to duck for cover. I wasn’t going to run from my problems.

In the instance that our eyes made contact I knew I was done for. What had I been thinking? I

had insulted him and I was in his territory, in his kingdom. I gulped and I grit my teeth reading for

the battle ahead.

He strode over with the determination of a lion ready to pounce. Right when he was in front of

me, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me up. I was about to exclaim in refusal but he spoke before

me.

“This girl is BAP’s property.”

Property?! Excuse me?!

“You are all forbidden to talk to her. From now on, she is BAP’s Dog.” He said with a smirk and I

gapped at him with wide eyes. He was forcefully tearing me from society if he did this. I knew

everyone would just listen to him because he was the king of the school.

NO NO NO NO!!!! I won’t have a normal school experience here!!! I tore my hand away from his

grasp and he turned to look at me.

“What the--! Can’t you just leave me alone!” I shouted in his face but he just grinned. I wanted

to smack that (cute-) irritating smile off his face!

“I knew you were going to fight back. It’s so like you.” He commented while crossing his arms.

“You don’t know anything about me! Besides, of course I would fight back! Who wouldn’t?!?” I

exclaimed. He looked about him and nodded to everyone watching our fight.

“Everyone here. You see, this is my school. No one ever goes against my will.” He said and I just

scoffed at his arrogant words.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Everyone just lets him get his way?

“Now someone has.” I crossed my arms, mirroring his arrogant position. He chuckled then sighed.

“You just don’t get it. This school is mine. The student belongs to me. The staff here is at my

feet. I can have you kicked out of this school faster than you can say kimchi.” When he said

those words, a hundred thoughts shot through my mind.

My parents… My brother… they were so proud… we were all so proud that I was accepted into

this school… Could it really be ripped away from me just like that?

I grit my teeth and closed my eyes. I was seething with anger and hatred. I knew that his words

were the truth. I could do one of two things. I could fight him and definitely be kicked out of

Syrina Academy for life or I could swallow my pride and take the crap he was shooting out of his

mouth.

I opened my eyes again and glared at him. I took a deep breath.

“Fine.” I muttered low enough for him to hear. I saw a gleam in his eyes, a look that I didn’t like.

“I knew you would give in the end.” He turned to his groupie behind him and nodded his head

towards me. Like robots, Jongup and Daehyun walked towards me and linked my arms with

theirs. I got apologetic looks from them as I tried to escape but there was no use. These two

were stronger than they looked. Yongguk turned and headed for God knows where and I was

dragged against my will to follow.

As I was dragged, I heard the whispers and hateful gossip that was being spread by others and I

just ignored it all. The only thing that I was truly concerned about was Taemin. I tried to turn to

make eye contact with him and once I did, a lump formed in my throat. His face was that of

betrayal, hatred and anger. I prayed that those emotions weren’t directed at me. In seconds, we

were out of the commons and walking down many of the vast hallways in the school. Left and

right, it was all like a maze to me.

Soon we reached an enclosed bridge area that connected the east wing to the west wing of the

school. As we passed I gasped at the view that I couldn’t enjoy. The walls of the enclosed bridge

were made of all glass so that one could walk through and enjoy the view.

Finally, we stopped at a grand door and Yongguk pushed it open to reveal a large room with a vast

back wall made of windows. I was startled by the grandeur of the place but what else can you

expect of a high class school.

“This is BAP’s Personal Office,” Yongguk stated looking at my reaction of the place. I hid my

emotions not wanting to add to this guy’s ego.

“To put it simply, it’s our own little hang out.” Himchan added as a side note and smiled at me. It

seems as if the only of the group was really only Yongguk.

“Yeah, no one bothers us in here. Not even the staff.” Zelo butted in and I raised an eyebrow

resisting the urge to scoff at their advantages over others.

Who would dare mess with the sons of the city’s wealthiest families anyway?

“Ahh… that’s nice.” I said not really wanting to exploit their wealth any more than necessary.

Rich bastards… >.>

“Well, you’re not here for sightseeing. You’re here for work.” That deep, irritating and (y)

arrogant voice said. I looked at him and frowned. There was nothing else I could do in this

situation. He shoved a piece of paper in my face and I snatched it. I looked at it and was put into

a state of disbelief.

“Clean the main bathroom’s toilets, Dust the chalkboard erasers, Mop the glass hallway’s floor

and tune the guitars in the music room?” I read out loud my voice getting more strained in

suppressed anger. I shot my eyes up to look at Yongguk who was leaning casually on the large

desk in the front of the room.

“Yeah. You should start now if you want to finish before school ends.” I breathed in deep for the

millionth time since I ran into him.

“Doesn’t this school have janitors?” I asked quietly. He threw his head back and laughed. I grit

my teeth.

“Of course it does. This is just your punishment. Now go, leave you’re wasting my time. When

you’re done with everything, report back here.” He said nonchalantly once he calmed down. I

rolled my eyes.

Whatever… I’ll take the crap he’s giving me. My inner said after thinking about my family again. I

turned and existed BAP’s room. I heard footsteps behind me and I looked back with my game

face on. It was Daehyun and Zelo. I smiled at them and waited for them to catch up with me.

”Noona!” Zelo whined and I ruffled his hair. He grinned and I shook my head at him. I felt as if we

were really close even though this was only our second time meeting each other. I just felt like

he was like my Jaejoong that I got attached.

“What is it Zelo?”  I asked him.

“We just wanted to show you where everything was and apologize for how Yongguk is behaving.”

Daehyun admitted and Zelo nodded his head, his hair bouncing up and down.

“Ahh, well that would help tons. As for apologizing for Yongguk’s behavior? That’s no hope. He’s

forever engraved as an to me.” I said and shrugged my shoulders. We continued  to walk

and I followed them.

“Actually, Yongguk isn’t that type of person to people he’s close to.” Zelo admitted and Daehyun

nodded his head.

“You’ll see. If you ever catch him off guard you’ll see the Bang Yongguk that the gang

appreciates. He’s been through lots with his family.” Daehyun excused.

“Yeah, he’s grown up in a hard situation at home. I think it forced him to create a shell against

people he doesn’t really know.” Zelo added and I shrugged.

“Tough history or not, a person shouldn’t act the way he does.” I noted and the two of them

shrugged.

“We’ll see. I actually never seen anyone stand up to him before. It amazed me.” I blushed and

brushed the compliment off.

“I use to do that a lot. I’m used to facing jerks like him.” We were already in front of the

janitor’s closet and they opened it for me. I walked in and grabbed a few things.

“Hmmm… that’s interesting. Just judging by your looks, it doesn’t seem like you’re the type to

rebel.” Daehyun noticed and I awkwardly chuckled.

“Well, a QUIET and INNOCENT girl like me needs to know how to protect herself.” I said

emphasizing some words and not making eye contact with them.

“Sure sure Noona.” Zelo sounded unconvinced and I smiled at him.

“Uhh, Jae we actually have to leave like now. If Yonggukkie finds out we were helping you, we

would be dead.” Zelo added and I nodded my head in agreement.

“Here’s a guide to the school. I’ve circled the rooms where Yongguk wants you to suffer his so

called punishments.” Daehyun rolled his eyes handing me the school’s guide. I took it and they

both started to jog back to BAP’s office.

“Thanks guys. Dae, Jelo… Hope you guys don’t get caught by The Devil!” I called after them and

they both stopped turning to me. They looked at each other then back at me with wide grins on

their faces. I had just given them nicknames therefore bestowing them the honor of being my

friends here at Syrina Academy. I waved for them to go and they waved running back. Once they

were out of sight I started on my tedious tasks.

I took out the map Dae had given me and looked at it. The closest room was the main bathrooms

so I decided to clean the toilets first. I grabbed the plunger, toilet scrubber and cleaning liquids

and headed for the bathrooms. I walked in and my mouth dropped. There were at least fifteen

stalls on opposite sides of both the men’s room and girl’s room. Freaking out, I started to clean

like crazy. All throughout my chores I had two main thoughts going through my head.

I hate you Bang Yongguk! And I have the WORST luck on a little planet I call Earth.

After sometime, I was finally done cleaning the bathrooms. I left them sparkling, seeing my

reflection in the toilet bowls. I checked my map again and saw that the glass hallway was closest

and I went back to the janitor’s closet and grabbed a mop and bucket.

Task after task, I completed each one until my back was aching with the vigorous scrubbing and

bending over that I had experienced.  I had finished each ‘punishment’ and headed for BAP’s

office like I was instructed to do. Once I reached the bridge area, I saw that all my classmates

were outside playing and hangout with each other. Their smiles and excited faces made me want

to just jump from the fourth floor to the green grass below.

I wanna play too :(

My inner voice whined and I mentally smacked myself. Unwillingly I headed for the office and

once my hand was place on the door, the school bell rang notifying the students that school was

now over. I sighed and pushed open the door.

My first day had been completely ruined by Yongguk. I hadn’t been able to get to know my

classmates or explore the school freely all because of that .

“Are you finally done?” His voice.

I hate your voice. I looked up and I saw the satisfied look he had.

I hate your face.  Nodding and he exhaled intertwining his fingers in front of his face.

I hate your casual pose. I hate the fact that you’re breathing.

“Too bad you weren’t able to hangout outside.” He noted.

And who’s fault is that?

“Can I just go home now?” I sighed and he nodded his head. I turned and started to walk out.

Freedom! Finally! Hot bath here I come!

“Where do you think you’re going?” I turned to look at him thinking that I must be hearing

things.

”You’re staying here with me until we finish organizing these.” He brought out five big boxes

filled with papers. I wanted to cry.

I hate everything about you Bang Yongguk.
