Entrance Day
Nothing But Bad Luck
Chapter 3:
Jae’s POV
Today was the day of my entrance ceremony at Syrina Academy and I had dressed to impress.
Clad in a simple white blouse, since transfers were supposed to wear white tops, with a light
olive pair of shorts topped off with my favorite set of flats I looked myself up and down in the
mirror. In my eyes I was dressed to impress, no matter how simple the look seemed; I hated
showing off my skin. However I would sacrifice the sake of my insecurities for the ceremony.
Before I could change my mind about my outfit, I rushed downstairs to be greeted with smiled
from my parents, brother and my mom’s girlfriend. They were all proud that I had been accepted
to Syrina Academy.
“Wow, Jae you look like a girl.” My brother wittily commented and I just rolled my eyes at him.
“And you look as gay as ever brother dear.” I said sarcastically and he curtsied. My brother, Kim
Jaejoong, was such an at times but he was also my adorable older brother. I laughed at him
and looked over at my parents.
“You look lovely dear. Don’t mind Joongie.” My appa said to me and I childishly stuck my tongue
out at Jaejoong. He flipped me off but I knew it was all in love.
“Jae, let’s go, you have to be there by eight thirty in the morning and it’s already seven.” My
umma said and I turned my attention to her. I nodded and we went to the car in the front. She
had a knack for being an early bird.
The ride to the school was full of laughter and smiles. It lightened my mood to see everyone in
high spirits. But soon we arrived at the school and it was time for me to leave my family behind. I
said my “goodbyes” and “see you soons” to turn and face the stairs leading to the front of the
school.
As I walked towards the school, I felt my heart swell with pride and I felt my lips spread into a
wide smile. Once I reached the top of the stairs, I saw that the path to the front of the building
was littered with students getting introduced to the different clubs at the school. As I slipped
through groups of people I overheard useful conversations and the usual gossip.
“Here at Syrina Academy, all the students must attend their morning classes and in the afternoon
they can attend to which ever club they join in but if you don’t join a club that’s fine so as long
as you use your time productively.” A distant male voice said and my eyebrows lifted.
Does this mean I could slouch around here at school??? I like that idea. I smiled and I tuned in to
another conversation a group of girls were having.
“Did you see him?” One voice said.
“You mean the son of the guy who owns the school?” Another voice said.
“Yeah, don’t you think he’s the hottest thing you’ve ever laid eyes on?” The previous girl said
and I rolled my eyes as I tuned out of their conversation.
Girls and their thoughtless hormones…Oh wait… I’m a girl too. My thoughts were then
interrupted by a sudden bump on the back and I turned to see a boy with freckles look at me. He
was taller than me and his face was slightly smeared with paint.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking.” He said in a mouse like voice and I smiled.
“It’s okay. It was my fault too. I wasn’t looking either.” I said and he smiled.
“Hey, what’s your name?” He asked.
“Ah, It’s Kim Jae Min. But just call me Jae.” I said and his face scrunched up.
“I’m Lee Taemin a junior in high school and a member of the art club. You know, you have a
strange name. Someone could mistake you for a guy if they’ve never met you.” He said quizzically
and I shrugged.
“It’s happened before but I’m used to it.”
“Hey, you wanna join the art club? It’s loads of fun.” He asked me and I grinned. I at art
but hey, I needed to make friends somewhere.
“Sure, I’ll join.” He handed me the sign-up sheet and I gladly signed my name on it. From that
point on, Taemin and I talked about the classes and cliques in the school
“Have you seen BAP yet?” He asked me with an excited look on his face. I shook my head and he
started to explain.
“They’re a bunch of guys who practically run the school. Each of them are the heir’s to their
parent’s titles and such. As a bonus, they all have handsome features. However their not my
type, too many girls go after them.” He said smugly. I looked at him and my suspicions were
confirmed.
I had a feeling he liked guys. Somehow, having a biual mother and a gay brother trained me
into having something of a Gay-Radar.
“Ohh… Taemin you have someone you like?” I asked and it was obvious by the blush that spread
across his cheeks.
“Yeah, he’s part of the martial arts club. His name is Lee Minho and he’s just amazing.” He said
dreamily and I giggled. He was so cute with that dreamy look on his face. The church like bell of
the school rung and I looked up at the entrance of the school.
“Come on Taeminnie, wipe the drool off your face. We have to go to the entrance ceremony.” He
blushed again and then he dragged me to the auditorium.
Yongguk’s POV
I was going through all the files of the transfers into our school an hour before the ceremony.
Many students were accepted this year ranging from all different ages. And practically all of the
transfers’ files were all clean of any misbehavior marks except for one.
It had no picture which was odd but the file was covered in red marks. The name of the student
was Kim Jae Min and I immediately assumed it was a guy’s name. I read his file and noticed that
he had gotten many marks for violence and wondered how he could have gotten in such a
prestigious school.
I checked his score on the entrance exam and was knocked into disbelief. This kid’s score on the
exam was nearly perfect. Just two points off perfection and he would have set a record for the
school.
Why would such an intelligent student have so many bad marks. I thought to myself and shook
my head.
You’re no different Yongguk. My inner voice told me and I grinned in agreement.
“Yah, what are you grinning there for? “ I turned to see Himchan leaning on the door of BAP’s
personal study. I closed Kim Jae Min’s file and placed it on the table.
“None of your business.” I said nonchalantly and crossed my arms.
“Whatever dude. Hey, the ceremony is gonna start in a few. It would be best if you head to the
auditorium.” He said matter-of-factly and I looked at the clock. It was eight twenty and I nodded
at Himchan.
“Ne umma.” I said obediently and he threw a pen from his pocket at me which I easily dodged. I
smiled widely and got up. Himchan and I had been best friends since I could remember. He
watched out for me and I watched out for him. We were practically the only two who could
understand our situations with our parents. We both didn’t want to inherit our family names for
personal reasons. His being that he didn’t want the label of a Mafia Leader hanging over his head
and I just didn’t want the responsibility of taking care of the company.
I headed to the auditorium and once I reached my designated seat I looked about the room. The
new faces of everyone confused me and I resulted in fiddling with my fingers.
Jae’s POV
After a long speech by the principal of the school and former students, the son of the school
owner was supposed to say a few words. I tore my gaze from my hands and looked up interested
to see who it was and was immediately frozen cold.
Wow Jae… your luck is definitely the worst…EVER. I wanted to mentally smack my inner voice.
The owner of Syrina Academy’s son was none other than the purple haired from the café.
When he started to speak, his words crawled over my skin causing goose bumps to form. I
mentally shook my head and tuned into what the Devil was saying.
“Annyeonghaseyo, I’m Bang Yongguk son of the owner of this school and leading legacy to Bang
Incorporate, I sincerely hope you enjoy your education here at Syrina Academy.” He said in a dull
voice and slightly bowed. He turned and left the podium.
That was so stand-offish…
After the main ceremony was finished, everyone was to report to the common area to be served
cake and refreshments. I followed the crowd unwillingly and lost track of Taemin figuring that he
was stalking his crush, I gave up looking for him. I knew that Yongguk was going to be in the
commons putting up his act so I decided to go look for somewhere nice to relax. I grabbed a
piece of cake and a cold cup of milk and went on my search to find a quiet place to hang out.
I walked pretty far from the commons when I stumbled into an open garden in the center of the
school. Hoping that no one would find me, I put on my earphones and played some 2NE1’s I Love
You and started to eat my cake in piece.
I was almost done with my cake when six guys entered the garden unnoticed by me.
No One’s POV
BAP had just entered the garden through the entrance behind Jae therefore unnoticed by Jae
who had her earphones on and her attention towards her delicious slice of cake in front of her.
“Hyung can we play a game?” Zelo clung onto Himchan begging for something to do.
“No Zelo. You’re wearing your nice clothes today.” The motherly Himchan warned Zelo who
slouched and let go of one of his Hyungs. He strolled over to Yongguk and wrapped his arms
around his neck from behind.
“Yongguk-hyung, how about you? You wanna play a game with me?” Zelo asked hopefully while
flashing his ageyo at the older. Yongguk chuckled in his rumbling voice and shook his head. The
ice cold composure of the eldest was always broke down when he was with his close friends.
“I can’t Zelo. Umma might get mad at me.” Yongguk said regretfully and took Zelo’s arms off from
around his neck.
“Aww… Fine.” Zelo said and pouted. The others all laughed and ruffled his hair.
“Fine, one game of tag, That’s it. Honestly we’re all practically adults and we’re going to play
tag.” Himchan muttered and Zelo jumped for joy.
“Tag your it!” Zelo tagged Himchan who immediately went after Yongguk who wasn’t paying
attention to them. Once Yongguk realized that Himchan was after him, he started to jog
backwards increasing his pace as Himchan drew in closer.
“Watch out!” Daehyun shouted but it was too late. Yongguk knocked into Jae behind him.
Jae’s POV:
Sadly, I couldn’t hear the fuss behind me through my blaring music. I was drinking my milk when
suddenly something, or rather someone, smashed into me from behind causing me to sputter on
my milk. I stood, my front drenched in the milk that I had been drinking a moment ago. I was so
put down, I had tried to dress up nicely and this is what happens to me.
“Yah, what the hell are you doing getting in me way?” That voice that cursed me said. I looked up
and saw his face. That gorgeous face of his was morphing from pissed to amused then just plain
cocky.
“You!” He yelled as he pointed a finger at me. Trying to look cool, I slouched to one foot.
“Oh just, my luck. It’s Mr. .”
