I dream of you.

Late at night, when the world seems empty and lonely, I dream of you.

We are standing in the centre of a lush green park, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the sounds of children playing drift over to where we are standing.

We are never doing anything special in this dream park of mine.

We sit on a picnic rug and talk.

We stand under the grove of trees smiling and laughing.

We play hide and seek with the children in the park, hiding together, stealing kisses when we think no one is looking.

Its idyllic and picturesque and then everything seems to go wrong at once.

Sometimes you simply get up off the picnic rug and walk away from me no matter how much I call for you.

Other times you look at me as if you've never seen me before and then you walk away.

But the most terrifying version of the dream is where the children in the park disappear, night quickly falls and a thick menacing white fog rolls in.

We are separated and we cannot see through the fog.

We are blind, helpless and we don't know where we are.

You call my name, you tell me to be calm.

Take one step at a time, you say.

I obey your orders without question.

I start taking steps through the fog searching for you.

But am I taking steps towards you?

Or am I getting further away from you with every step I take?

The fog lifts as quickly as it rolled in and our eyes connect for a split second.

And then I wake up.

Unknowing if I was getting closer to you.

Remembering that look you had when you didn't recognise me in the dream was the same one you gave me in the pub.

Realising that you simply getting up and walking away was how you left me the first time.

Even in my dreams I can't escape my reality.

But its the words I remember you saying that haunt me.

The only words I ever recall you saying to me in my dream.

Take one step at a time.

Is this what I'm doing now?

Stepping blindly?

Running to you?

Or from you?

Yay!! New chapter!
I now semi like my characters again.
They're frustrating even me with their refusal to talk about how they finally get together!
