{P r o l o g u e}

"Y-You're leaving me?" Her eyes had widened at his words, tears already beginning to form within them as the snow continued to lightly dance around the two of them. He had asked her to come with him outside once she had finished closing up her small coffee shop, but this news was something that she had definitely not expected.

The brunet beside her couldn't find it in him to stare at her directly, and had instead opted for staring at the ground below him. "I have to, Bommie."

The helplessness within her only felt like it was growing as she whispered, "B-But I thought that..." I thought that you liked it here. With me.

As though he could hear her thoughts, he felt his heart constrict painfully and moved to grab her hand. His brown eyes met her's, still glistening with tears, as he whispered back, "I do. And as soon as I settle everything back home, I'm going to come back. And we can start our whole lives over. Just the two of us. You and me. We'll make it work."

It seemed like her tears could no longer prolong their fall, and they slowly trickled out of her eyes as she struggled to form some kind of response.

His heart twisted even more as he leaned towards her to kiss away her tears. However, the contact did nothing to calm the slightly younger girl, and her tears streaked down her face even more rapidly.

So instead, he pulled her into a tight embrace, affectionately whispering into her ear, "I promise."

Her heart pounded faster at his words, but she looked up at him and managed a cute, "What kind of promise?"

Seunghyun smiled at her, noticing that her tears had momentarily halted, "Why, a pinky promise of course." At her curious frown he raised her hand to intertwine his pinky with her's, "A pinky promise: The most sacred vow that two people can ever make with each other." The skepticalness remained on her features, so he forced his expressions to brighten, "Bommie-ah. I, Seunghyun, pinky promise that by this time next year, I'll be back here. In this small town. Right next to you. And I pinky promise that as soon as I come back, I'll never leave you. Ever again."

Slowly, her features managed to form a light smile, though the tears in her eyes still glistened brightly. 

Taking this as an agreement, the man pulled her close to him, bringing her face towards his, and enveloping her in a tight embrace.

"I love you."

The night's snow continued to fall from above, perhaps as a sort of omen.

I know I've been juggling a lot of projects lately, but once I saw this contest, I just couldn't let the opportunity pass me by. This is an entry for the just smile ━ aff writing contest by Ai-Rinnie. Here's the prompt:

I want to say something like, "Oh, this isn't going to be very long!" but unfortunately, I can't. XD I don't have all the chapters typed out yet, but my extremely thorough outline and I have planned for this beautiful piece of work to be a total of six chapters, with an epilogue. I promise that it'll be worth it though, and I hope you enjoy this story! ^^;;
