Donghae started being a trainee at SM so he could make his sick father both happy and smile. Donghae envisions a future where everyone he loves is healthy and laughing. Plenty of kids who would watch foreign, English movies with him; a pretty wife who would make the yummiest sandwiches ever.
Hyukjae wanted the fame, glory, and girls when he auditioned for SM. He's satisfied with his Pomeranian, Choco, and he watches plenty of . Then Hyukjae meets Donghae, and realizes there's a lot more to his life than he thought.
Donghae's oblivious, and Hyukjae's frustrated and still positive he's straight. I'm just a little Hae-ual, he grudgingly admits to himself.

Donghae had just jointly won the Best Outward Appearance with a boy called Sungmin in the third annual SM Youth Best Contest. Donghae had no clue how, as every girl he talked to at Seoul had just giggled at and run away from him. Donghwa reassured Donghae that he wasn't ugly, and said the girls must have been turned off by his Mokpo accent. "Teenage boys aren't supposed to sound like old men."

I was too short for soccer anyway, Donghae thinks moodily. He was currently riding the train to Seoul, and brooding over the what the doctor said two hours ago about his dad's condition. "We're doing everything we can to make him better," Dr. Lee had assured him. "So don't worry, little man. Just do your best at SM and make your appa proud, got that?"

It's been two years since I joined SM as a trainee. Hyukjae smugly smiles to himself and strikes a pose in front of the bathroom mirror. "Lee Hyukjae," he says in a voice he thinks would belong pretty well with the best hosts of the nation. "The #1 dancer, rapper, and singer in Korea. Are you ready for him, people?"
"YAH!" Junsu yells from inside his bathroom stall. "You?! Singing?! My peeing sounds better!"
Hyukjae totally ignores Junsu and tries to imagine to the best of his ability (which was considerably hard with the distracting background music of Junsu peeing) himself onstage performing to a stadium full of adoring, cheering fans in the stands. With girls like the members of S.E.S. Or his videos.
Hyukjae smiles dreamily.
