Henry made his way back to the dim, shabby, apartment that he had all but abandoned four months ago to move in with his girlfriend. Gently, he placed the box of his things on the kitchen counter and locked the door behind him.

Immediately, the tears came to him, and he slumped down to the floor, almost hitting his head off of the door knob as he did so. Nothing mattered, not right now. Her smiles. Her sweet words. In time, they floated through his mind and out the keyhole, leaving his limp figure inhaling putrid, faux, harmony.

She was dead, and nothing... absolutely nothing... could change that fact.

That night the nightmares started. He would fall asleep to the sound of his heavy breathing, and awaken to the tears that refused to leave him during the day.
