The Work Proposal Chapter - 3

Hana unlocked the door to her small apartment, feeling a mixture of exhaustion and accomplishment after her first day at the office. The evening air greeted her as she stepped inside, closing the door behind her. The soft glow of a lamp filled the room, casting a warm and comforting ambiance.

Her gaze wandered around her humble abode. The walls were adorned with a few simple artworks she had collected over the years, adding a touch of personality to the otherwise plain room. A cosy armchair sat in one corner, a place she often retreated to when she needed a moment of solitude. The bookshelf against the wall showcased her love for literature, with books of various genres neatly arranged in rows.

As Hana walked further into the apartment, she noticed her roommate, Giselle, fast asleep on the couch. The rhythmic sound of Giselle's snores filled the room, echoing in the silence. Hana couldn't help but smile at the sight, finding comfort in the familiarity of their shared living space.

She tiptoed past the slumbering Giselle, careful not to wake her. Hana made her way to her own bedroom, a small but cosy space that reflected her minimalist approach to life. A single window allowed a gentle stream of moonlight to filter in, casting a soft glow on the neatly made bed. The scent of lavender from her favourite candle lingered in the air, creating a soothing atmosphere.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Hana kicked off her shoes and let out a long sigh. She ran her fingers through her hair, feeling the weight of the day slowly lifting off her shoulders. Thoughts of her colleagues danced in her mind, their quirky personalities leaving an impression on her.

With a fond smile, Hana recalled Nayeon's cheerful clumsiness, Rose's witty remarks, and Momo's shy yet kind-hearted nature. Each interaction had made her feel welcomed and supported, easing the initial nervousness she had felt on her first day.

As Hana changed into comfortable pyjamas, she glanced at the small desk in the corner of her room. It held a stack of papers she had brought home to review, a reminder of the workload that awaited her. She sighed once again, reminding herself to face the challenges with the same determination she had shown throughout the day.

Climbing into bed, Hana closed her eyes and let the weariness settle in. The sounds of the city outside became distant as she drifted into a peaceful slumber, grateful for the friends she had made and the experiences that awaited her in this new chapter of her life.

In the early morning hours, Hana hurriedly prepared a delicious breakfast for Giselle, ensuring she wouldn't go hungry. With the scent of freshly brewed coffee permeating the air, Hana skillfully flipped pancakes on the stove, creating a mouthwatering stack that elicited a growl of hunger from her own stomach. Placing the plate of golden pancakes on the table, she couldn't resist leaving a small note for Giselle, expressing her care and wishing her a fantastic day ahead.

As Hana entered the bustling workplace, the energy was palpable, like an electric current coursing through the office. The familiar sound of keyboards clacking and phones ringing filled the air, but amidst the organised chaos, there was a sense of camaraderie. Colleagues laughed, shared stories, and engaged in animated conversations, creating a lively atmosphere.

Heechul, the resident joker, was already in full swing, regaling everyone with his quick wit and playful banter. Laughter erupted from all corners of the room, filling it with a buoyant spirit.

As Hana joined the group, the conversation flowed effortlessly. Heechul continued his joke-telling spree, keeping everyone entertained.

"Ah, Hana! Just in time for the morning giggles. Welcome to the fun zone!" Heechul greeted, a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.

"Hana, you've got to join in. We're a bunch of jokers here," Nayeon chimed in, her smile warm and welcoming.

"Yeah, Hana, you've got to listen to their jokes," Rose added, her laughter infectious.

Heechul grinned mischievously at Hana. "So, Hana, have you heard the one about HR and the boss's secretary?"

Hana chuckled, playing along. "Oh, do tell, Heechul. I'm curious to hear what mischief you've cooked up this time."

Rose chimed in, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Don't encourage him, Hana. He's always up to something."

Nayeon, unable to contain her laughter, added, "Just wait until you've been here a bit longer. You'll find that Heechul has an endless supply of jokes and pranks up his sleeve."

Amidst the laughter, Kyungsoo couldn't help but interject with a shy smile. "I must admit, Heechul's jokes do brighten up the workday."

Sehun, ever the nonchalant observer, quipped, "Well, someone has to keep the office interesting. Otherwise, it'd be all work and no play."

Heechul nudged Sehun playfully. "See, even Sehun appreciates my comedic genius."

Momo, who had been quietly observing the banter, blushed as Rose and Nayeon exchanged knowing glances. Sensing an opportunity, Nayeon leaned towards Heechul with a mischievous grin. "Hey, Heechul, you know that Momo has a soft spot for you, right?"

Heechul raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise. "Oh, really? Is that so, Momo?"

Momo's cheeks turned a shade redder as she shyly nodded. "I... um, yeah. Your jokes always make me smile."

Heechul's lips curled into a gentle smile. "Well, Momo, I'll have to make sure I keep the jokes coming then."

Meanwhile, Kyungsoo found himself stealing glances at Nayeon, captivated by her charm and elegance. His gaze lingered, betraying his interest, though he tried to conceal it behind his calm and composed demeanour.

Sehun, even the observant one, caught Kyungsoo's glances and shook his head in amusement. With a playful smirk, he leaned in to whisper teasingly to Kyungsoo.

"Dude, you're as obvious as a neon sign, but you're also a coward. You need to level up."

Kyungsoo's cheeks flushed slightly at Sehun's comment, but he couldn't help but inquire further. "Sehun, do you really care about me that much?"

Sehun playfully rolled his eyes and responded with a smirk, "I wish I cared, bro. But hey, don't be a wimp. Go after what you want. Fortune favours the bold!"

Amidst the laughter and light-hearted conversations, Hana couldn't help but notice Chanyeol's arrival. The air seemed to shift, the room growing subtly quieter as all eyes turned towards their enigmatic boss.

Polite greetings filled the space as everyone acknowledged Chanyeol's presence, including Hana, who couldn't suppress a flicker of frustration. Their eyes met briefly, an unspoken tension lingering between them. When her eyes met his, she couldn't help but notice the subtle curl of his lips into a smirk. It was a look that sent a shiver down her spine, a silent warning that he had already devised something formidable for her.

Undeterred, Hana focused her attention on her colleagues, engaging in discussions about work, sharing insights, and learning from their experiences. Each interaction provided her with valuable insights, strengthening the bond between them.

With a determined spirit and a smile on her face, Hana delved into her work, ready to prove herself in the face of any challenge. The vibrant energy of the office fueled her determination, reminding her that she was part of a team that embraced laughter, friendship, and resilience.

The vibrant energy of the office fueled her determination, reminding Hana that despite the challenges ahead, she had a team of supportive colleagues by her side. And with their guidance and camaraderie, she knew she could navigate the intricacies of her new role, no matter what Chanyeol had planned.

As the day progressed, Hana found solace in the laughter, friendship, and resilience that permeated the office. She knew that with the collective spirit of her colleagues, she could face any obstacle that Chanyeol threw her way.

And so, amidst the shared jokes, friendly banter, and blossoming connections, Hana felt a renewed sense of purpose. She was ready to conquer this day and everyday that followed, with her newfound family standing beside her.

Hana's phone buzzed, indicating an incoming call from Jennie, Chanyeol's secretary. She picked it up, curious about what Chanyeol might want from her.

"Hana, the boss wants to see you in his office," Jennie informed her in a professional tone.

Hana nodded, acknowledging the message. "Thank you, Jennie. I'll head there right away."

As Jennie made her way back to her desk, she unexpectedly bumped into Kai, the HR representative. Their eyes met, and a playful smile danced on their lips. Their casual conversation quickly turned into friendly banter, laced with subtle flirtation. Hana, observing the inter
