Chapter 1 Surprising Interview

Lee Hana walked into the interview room, her heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. The room was pristine, with a long table at the centre and several intimidating figures seated around it. Among them was Park Chanyeol, the CEO of "The Park Company," his presence casting a shadow over the room.

Hana sat nervously in the interview room, facing a panel of interviewers. The room exudes professionalism, with a sleek conference table, comfortable chairs, and an expansive window offering a view of the bustling city. The interviewers, dressed impeccably in business attire, maintained an air of composed professionalism.

As the interview progressed, Chanyeol, the CEO of the company, leaned forward, his eyes focused intently on Hana. He adjusted his tie before posing a question that held an underlying reference to their previous disagreement.

"Tell me, Hana," Chanyeol began, his tone measured yet slightly inscrutable, "how do you handle conflict within a team, particularly when personal differences come into play?"

Hana's heart skipped a beat, recognizing the subtle allusion to their past discord. She maintained her composure, reminding herself to answer with grace and professionalism. Despite her inner turmoil, she responded calmly, keeping her voice steady.

"When faced with conflicts within a team, I believe in fostering open and respectful communication. It's crucial to listen to each person's perspective and understand the underlying concerns. I aim to find common ground and focus on the team's objectives rather than personal differences. By promoting a collaborative environment and encouraging transparent dialogue, conflicts can be resolved effectively, allowing the team to move forward and achieve its goals."

Chanyeol's gaze lingered on Hana for a moment, his expression inscrutable. He acknowledged her response with a subtle nod before redirecting the conversation to other aspects of her experience and skills.

Internally, Hana felt her blood boil at the veiled reference to their past disagreement. She wondered if Chanyeol's intent was to test her ability to handle difficult situations or if there was a deeper purpose behind his question. Regardless, she reminded herself to maintain her professionalism and focus on showcasing her capabilities.

During the interview, Chanyeol observed Hana closely, his sharp gaze never leaving her. He was intrigued by her composure and intellect, finding himself captivated by her every word. Despite his initial intention to make her time at the company difficult, a small part of him couldn't help but be impressed.

Chanyeol continued to pose challenging questions, probing deeper into Hana's skills, experience, and ability to handle complex situations. Hana maintained her calm demeanour, responding thoughtfully and showcasing her expertise.

Chanyeol leaned back in his chair, fixing his gaze on Hana. "Hana, tell me about a time when you faced a significant challenge in a previous role and how you overcame it."

Hana took a deep breath, recalling a specific experience from her past. "In my previous position, we encountered a major setback in a project due to unexpected budget cuts. It required me to reassess our resources and come up with creative solutions. I initiated cost-saving measures, restructured the project timeline, and collaborated closely with team members to maximise our efficiency. Through effective communication and resource management, we were able to deliver the project successfully within the revised constraints."

Chanyeol nodded, his expression serious. "Impressive. Now, let's discuss your approach to problem-solving. How do you tackle complex problems that require innovative thinking?"

Hana pondered for a moment, carefully choosing her words. "When faced with complex problems, I believe in taking a structured approach. I start by thoroughly analysing the situation, gathering relevant data, and consulting with stakeholders to gain multiple perspectives. Then, I brainstorm potential solutions, weighing their pros and cons. I also believe in seeking input from team members, as diverse viewpoints often lead to more innovative ideas. Once a solution is identified, I create an action plan, ensuring clear communication and accountability throughout the implementation process."

Chanyeol raised an eyebrow, his penetrating gaze unwavering. "Interesting. Now, imagine you are leading a team that is struggling to meet a tight deadline. How would you motivate them and ensure timely project completion?"

Hana's eyes sparkled with determination as she responded, "In such situations, I believe in fostering a positive and supportive team culture. I would openly communicate the importance of the deadline, emphasising the collective goal and the significance of each team member's contribution. I would identify any obstacles they face and provide the necessary resources and support to overcome them. Additionally, I would break down the project into manageable tasks, set realistic milestones, and celebrate small victories along the way to keep morale high. By instilling a sense of ownership and empowering the team, I would motivate them to work efficiently and collaboratively to meet the deadline."

As the interview continued, Hana fielded a variety of questions from the other interviewers, each seeking to assess her qualifications and fit for the company. She answered with confidence, drawing from her experiences and showcasing her expertise in the field.

By the end of the interview, Hana's initial nervousness had transformed into a sense of accomplishment. She had navigated the delicate terrain of Chanyeol's indirect question, demonstrating her ability to remain composed under pressure. She knew that regardless of the underlying intentions behind Chanyeol's inquiry, she had stayed true to herself and had presented her qualifications in the best possible light.

The interviewers thanked Hana for her time. As she exited the room, a mix of relief and anticipation washed over her. She couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment for navigating the interview successfully, even in the face of Chanyeol's demanding questions.

Little did Hana know that Chanyeol had been observing her closely, intrigued by her poise and resilience. He contemplated the significance of their previous disagreement and its potential impact on their future interactions within the company.

Meanwhile, outside the interview room, Baekhyun, Chanyeol's best friend and fellow employee, paced back and forth. He c
