Perhaps, it was just a matter of time. 

Although their conversation was undeniably heavy. Rafa got to open up about her past and the pain that she's been keeping since. And finally, she was able to breathe in relief. 

Whilst Bella was left speechless. Overwhelmed by the story Rafa has told her about. She didn’t know Rafa has been living in vain all her life.

Bella learned all about her mother who was beaten up to death while Rafa watched the whole thing, crying out for her twin sister who had gone missing that time. She thought everyone abandoned her. She grew up hating her twin. Rafa did everything to erase her from her memories and convinced herself that her sister never existed. 

Until the day came when she attempted to run away from home. Rafa then figured out that she was supposed to be traded with the syndicate in exchange for money and drugs instead of Noemi, her sister. 

Rafa felt sorry for Noemi and she grew up hating and blaming her. Noemi was a victim herself, too. 

Rafaela was taking in shaky breaths and it shocked Bella when she lent her a photo card of her and Noemi with trembling hands. “I… I bring this with me… all the time.” It was their picture that their mom took. “You may not see it now but I want you to keep it for a while.” 

The place was dark but Bella still felt the gazes coming from Rafaela. She wants to know why Rafa would let her have the only thing she has for her twin. “Why are you giving me this?”

Rafa sighed in cold, “Because I’m going away for a while. I may not be around when Noemi comes looking for me…” She pauses and remembers how her conversation goes with Noemi the last time. “If she does, then give it to her. Tell her … tell her how sorry I am. And… and that I love her till the end.”

Bella then became inquisitive about what she was talking about. “You tell her that yourself. What are you talking ab— Where are you going?”

“You wouldn’t wanna know… But promise me you’ll do what I asked you, alright?” It didn’t come out as a favor, it sounded almost like a beg.

“I… promise.” It wasn’t too much to ask but the fact that she wouldn’t tell Bella what exactly is going on, might keep this poor woman up until midnight, or even until the next morning. So in order not to make it sound so desperate of concern, she decided to shut up and sit there, forcing herself not to think about their kiss.

But how in the hell she couldn’t? Bella was looking away when she cleared , “About the ki—”

“It’s fine..” Rafa cuts her off. Making Bella promptly turn to her with a desperate look. 

“Let’s just…let’s just forget about it.” Rafa continues and a hallow laugh punctuates after. “My bad, I must have been so selfish in trying to get you to love me back.” Rafaela then dusts her pants and stretched her lengthy limbs. Leaving the other girl no choice but to remain in her sit with an aching heart. 

She breathes in deeply, closes her eyes, and then feels the ambiance of this old town. This was the only place she could call her home. It was almost too hard for her not to think how much Cumberland made her feel hearty and warm. 

This is the life that they wanted. Safe and peaceful. How she wishes they had this sooner. How she wishes they lived in Cumberland together.
