Water boy Wendy
Parallel Lines (English Version)Chapter 6 | Water boy Wendy
“Ate, I’ll go with you!” Joy opened the door of the shotgun seat of Irene’s car. It’s always when she’s got some hangover, that the coach calls for a surprise practice session.
“Oh, okay.” Irene could only tell her sister as she started to drive. She usually goes to school earlier than them since she hates being stuck in traffic. To her, it’s better to wait than to be late.
“Ate, what’s the cure for a hangover?” Joy asked her sister as she was massaging her temple. “I think I drank too much last time I can’t even remember a thing.”
“Get some Advil then drink Gatorade.” Irene seriously answered her sibling. This usually works for her.
“Damn, ate. You already sound like a doctor!” Joy older sister. She is proud that even with her sister’s modeling career, she keeps up being a dean’s lister as well.
“Joy, aren’t you mad at me?” Irene asked. She was expecting her sister to be angry at her after what happened. Though the two of them really don’t fight that much and it was always Joy and Yeri who do, up to the point where they are pulling each other’s hair.
“Why would I be mad?” Joy confusingly asked while scrolling over her timeline. She saw posts from last night and came across Seulgi and her sister’s photo together. “Is it because you and Seul are dating?”
“Yeah,” Irene shyly admitted. This was not how she wanted to do things but Seulgi was just plain reckless in the library and at the acquaintance party.
“Why would I be mad?” Joy tried to fake a smile.
“Because I didn’t tell you?” To Irene, this was harder than her final exams last term. It was like she hasn’t reviewed anything because she kept on guessing which reaction Joy would give her.
“I’m happy for you, ate. Tell me if Seulgi makes you cry. I’ll kill her!” How can Joy be mad at her sister? It’s been long since her Ate Irene got into a relationship. Balancing studies and modeling at the same time is really a lot of work.
Her sister deserves the best. To her, Seulgi is the best out there. Why else would she be in love with her best friend if she thought someone could top that standard? If there’s someone whom she should be mad at, it’s Seulgi. Last term, they got really close to the point where they were in a no-label relationship. It turned out, she’s been played. She felt cheated but cannot do much about it since it was her sister whom Seulgi chose.
“Are you for real?” Irene felt relieved. Usually in Philippine television series, when two sisters got dibs on the same person, they’d immediately pull each other’s hairs out. She cannot believe Joy would turn out chill about the whole thing. That Joy would take it as nothing.
“Admit it first! That I am your favorite instead of Yeri! I deserve the best sister award.” Even if it hurts, Joy needs to accept it. Last night, as she was watching her best and her sister at the party, it looked like Seulgi was fixated on her Ate Irene.
“Yeah, yeah! You deserve the crown.” Irene laughed at Joy, who was waving her hand like she won Miss Universe.
“I wish I were like you. You have your modeling career. You do well academically. And you now have a love life.” Joy accepts her defeat. She knew her sister deserved every bit of it. And even when Seulgi, the love of her life, didn’t choose her, it was an honorable fight. To wish she’d won, would be an understateme
