Chapter 4 | Liquid Courage

Seulgi really didn’t give it much thought. All she knew was she is recklessly trying to hurt the one she loves. In retrospect, if she does something thoughtlessly like this in the future, she’d be a bad lawyer.

Ever since Wendy and her parents immigrated when they were in fourth grade, Seulgi had to carefully plan her actions. Her mom is an epitome of a perfectionist and her dad just enjoys the limelight.

On the outside, they seem to be the perfect family. Her dad’s a lawyer for a big telecommunications company while her mom is a top prosecutor. And Seulgi, well she, she is their perfect daughter racking up awards academically. What everyone doesn’t know is that everything, it’s a façade and the truth is her parents were never home.

When Seulgi was younger, she was always at her uncle’s house since their houses were beside each other. And Wendy was a person who was always dear to her. During their childhood, Seulgi only had Wendy and they’d do everything together.

Seulgi saw Wendy’s message on her phone as she was walking with Irene towards the entrance of the field where the said acquaintance party is.

The whole open field is filled with high tables resembling a bar layout where people can mingle and drink, the music is blaring like there’s no tomorrow. In short, it’s the perfect party to start the semester.

When Seulgi and Irene arrived, they were instantly crowded with photographers and those trying hard to be photographers using their iPhones. After the post about their fake relationship was released, everybody’s been trying to get more information from her. Even her PolSci friends were asking about it, but she’d just shrug it off. True, the news has been really overwhelming for her and she isn’t the type to step into the limelight since she’s a very simple person. The only reason it’s been big is because it’s with Irene. It seemed like this backfired on her but there’s no use crying over spilled milk.
