My Cousin from Canada
Parallel Lines (English Version)Chapter 1 | My Cousin from Canada
“What time is Wendy’s arrival again?” Joy asked while contemplating whether to sit at Terminal 1’s waiting area. To her, it was a really big red flag to sit because she just saw the kid in front of her sticking bubble gum under the seat. It’s been two hours since they were waiting, so she literally had no choice.
“I know it’s 8:10 in the morning. There might have been some delays. You know how Philippine Immigration is.” Seulgi replied while fiddling on her phone trying to check whether the screenshot of her cousin’s flight is the same.
“Seul, it’s already ten.” Joy looked at the time on her phone. She didn’t expect they would wait this long that’s why she didn’t eat breakfast before leaving.
“Don’t go anywhere! Just wait for Wendy!” Seulgi stood up and ran.
After ten minutes or so, at a distance, Joy saw Wendy, whose head was checking for faces left and right. Judging from the Instagram photos she’s seen, given that they are moots, she easily identified Wendy.

Joy giggled at her best friend’s comment. “Where have you been?”
“I went to buy you burgers. I figured you’d be hungry since we went early.” Seulgi showed the paper bag she got from Jollibee.
It was awkward for Wendy to see her cousin and crush looking dearly at each other. “Did you buy me some? I really missed Jollibee!” She cut in between the two because she felt out of place.
“I even bought you a kiddie meal.” Seulgi realized it. She shouldn’t be this way. She promised herself she would lessen being affectionate towards Joy. “Suits your height.” She immediately took one of Wendy’s suitcases and led them towards where she parked her car.
Even before Wendy could counter Seulgi’s teasing, Joy asked her, “how was your flight?”
Wendy thought of it, there will be plenty of time to get back with Seulgi’s teasing. But first, Joy’s question made her weak in the knees. It’s been too long since she got back to the Philippines. She was still in fourth grade when she went to Canada together with her parents.
“It was fine. My flight had a slight change.” Wendy replied too formally with Joy. She doesn’t know what to say next. Finally seeing her l
