Scream, That's Okay

“Unnie! Save me!”

“Stop it!”

Jolting awake from her dream, Chaeyeon can feel beads of sweats rolling down from her forehead straight onto her chin which she wipes away while grunting. Gritting her teeth, she curled up on her bed while clenching those scarred fists of hers, stifling her sobs. She hates it, this deafening silence inside her room which felt like choking her chest but she also didn’t feel like escaping this room.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry everyone.”

With a croaky voice, she muttered her apology while trembling alone. Those devastating voices keep on haunting her for the past ten years after an unfortunate incident befallen her family. That horrifying time is just like this moment, a still and silent night not until a loud shriek suddenly breaks the peaceful atmosphere mixed with cries of helplessness from a teenage girl.

“Chaeyeon, run!”

“Unnie, don’t leave me!”

“Chaeyeon, don’t look back!”

“Unnie, save me!”

“Chaeyeon-”

“Unnie-”

“Shut up! Shut up! STOP!”

Cries of agony turned into a wrath as she shouted on top of her lungs, trying to chase away those haunting voices from disturbing her again. Grabbing her sword at the bedside, Chaeyeon unsheathed the shining blade and swung it around, trying to slice whatever things that were messing with her mind.

“Chaeyeon!”

A high pitch scream barged inside the room which makes Chaeyeon double her speed and wreck anything in her path. She loathes these voices which keep coming and disturb her dream, keep on reminding Chaeyeon about her biggest sin entire of her life. She loses her reasoning and starts rampaging, turning the simple room upside down, scattering her belongings and wrecking any furniture she possessed in the tiny room.

“Lee Chaeyeon, it’s okay! It is all in your dream! You are safe!”

A few screams in her room didn’t reach her as Chaeyeon already lost her sanity due to pent up stress and guilt she bottled inside her. She can feel her grip loosened as something hit her neck and she slumped on her bed while a silhouette snatched away her weapon as Chaeyeon lost her consciousness for the night.

“I’m sorry, I am weak. I’m sorry for running away. I’m-”

“It’s alright, Chaeyeon. We know. You’ve done a great job.”

A cracked voice embraces Chaeyeon who had a hard time in keeping her eyes open as drowsiness hit her hard. Images of her fallen families being ravaged by ferocious beasts ingrained within her mind which keep on hunting the girl inside her dream. She felt her world turned pitch dark but this soft voice who keeps on comforting her somehow invites some sort of comfort inside her heart.

“We will fight with you, Chaeyeon. It’s alright to feel weak, we are here with you. Always.”

Another deep voice whispered, making Chaeyeon sighed in relief as she let herself be pulled by the endless darkness and fall into a deep slumber.

~

The first thing Chaeyeon does upon waking up groggily is jumping out from her bed and turning around her room. Although it seems a lot better than she remembered before falling asleep, the girl with mid-length red hair does vividly remember her last night rampage and planted a hard slap onto her head.

Pushing away her blanket which somehow tucked her tight in her bed, Chaeyeon strides towards the kitchen where her housemates are sitting with a big yawn escaping their mouth. She can see traces of exhaustion visible from the underlines of her friend’s eyes and she felt extremely sorry for them for losing control yet again.

“Uh… Good morning.”

“Wouldn’t say that it’s good but yeah, morning.”

Her friend who is a beauty with wavy, lilac-coloured hair greeted her back with a simple smile. Chaeyeon can feel a lump formed inside as she bowed at her friends, “I-I’m sorry for losing control again last night.”

“Don’t worry, Jjaeyeon. Both me and Kang-chan are always here to calm you down so don’t be afraid to show your vulnerable side towards us.”

“Saku-chan…”

She trotted towards the girl with a pair of attractive round eyes who is currently using a ladle to stir a pot of stew at the stove. The aromatic food wafted in the air, giving a sense of calmness as well as inciting her hunger, making Chaeyeon momentarily distracted from her worries.

She is thankful for the presence of her two best friends, Sakura and Hyewon who acts like her family ever since she lost one from a stampede of Fluids ten years ago at the age of ten years old. Fluids; a term which refers to the monster emerged after the climate change problem arose throughout the planet, melting countless icebergs which released them. The Fluids existence caused water around the world to scorch up, pollute and become undrinkable. The only way for humanity to obtain precious drinking water is through defeating those Fluids which will be turned into spring water with a finite amount. However, to defeat one isn’t an easy feat as the Fluid is an agile creature with astounding strength. Only a select few can hunt and kill them and these groups of people are called the Slayers.

“The association had called you to fend off a few Fluids. It seems that water supply is running low within the region in the north.”

“Didn’t I just go there a few weeks ago? Gosh, this is becoming out of hand, huh?”

Chaeyeon groans at Hyewon’s words; the girl with lilac hair, who slides a cup of hot chocolate for her. Sipping the piping hot drink, her head is filled with a few necessary items she needs to bring along for her newest mission in the north.

“Well, the Fluids movements are becoming more active as of late. Even Saku-chan and I need to cover the east and north-east area later.”

“You two too? Wow, the association really needs to find and train more Slayers for sure.”

“In fact, they do need better-quality Slayers to cover us, the S-Rank Slayers.”

They just sighed collectively before wolfing down Sakura’s delectable breakfast, bread with stew which certainly energized them to have a good start in the morning. Ever since the existence of Fluids became well-known throughout the world, every country finally united and formed an alliance which is called the Slayers Association or is referred to as association in short. This alliance exists to gather capable individuals who are able to fend off Fluids without sacrificing a lot of people. As this job requires every Slayer to endanger their life, the rewards they receive are quite handsome which compensate the risk they faced; enough to live comfortably for three generations if they are mindful about their expenditure.

Even so, not many people can muster up their courage to become a Slayer due to the fearsome appearance of those Fluids. Not only that, it seems that people thought that as long as there’s S-rank Slayers, they will be able to live in peace when in fact those Slayers themselves almost lose their dear life due to accumulated fatigue from running back and forth around the world to fend off Fluids which becomes stronger with each passing moment.

Stretching her back, Chaeyeon helped Hyewon wash the piled-up dinnerware before getting ready to go and take her mission from the association. Sakura expressed her worries towards the red-haired girl but she just patted the slightly taller girl with pink hair while convincing the cherry blossom that she will be fine. Getting a deep sleep last night gave Chaeyeon a chance to slightly recover her energy. She promised Sakura to meet again in a week (that is if she is still alive), and had a party with a lot of umeboshi; pickles that Sakura loved as well as tons of fancy food for Hyewon (which for sure will leave a hole in Chaeyeon’s pocket because Hyewon only eat high quality and exquisite food). This is the least Chaeyeon can do to repay her friends who helped her calming down while repairing every wreckage she commits whenever the red-haired losing her sanity due to those traumatic dreams.

Her walk towards the association building took Chaeyeon around 15 minutes as her house located slightly away from the residential area to avoid her from harming people whenever she is losing control of her sanity.

“Oh, if it isn’t our Crimson Slayer! Are you going out to protect people again? Here, take this for your supplies!”

“It’s Crimson Slayer!”

“Our pride Slayer is working hard, take this-”

She is greeted with warm greetings by the citizens whom she saved on during her job as a Slayer. Everyone literally swarmed over Chaeyeon as she just smiled and politely replied to them while receiving every precious gift, they handed her. At this moment, Chaeyeon thought that it must be nice if her family could see this but she quickly dismissed such thoughts as it might affect her performance during the hunt later.

“ACK! FLUIDS! THERE’S FLUIDS ATTACKING!”

Horrifying shrieks pulled Chaeyeon back to reality as she snapped her head towards the direction of the town square where a ton of people were running with pale faces. Her instinct as a Slayer emerged and the red-haired is quick to instruct those swarming people around her to take refuge, “Everyone head towards the Slayer Association building and evacuate there. I’ll take a look at what is happening.”

After making sure no one left within the vicinity, Chaeyeon sheathed her sword and sprinted towards the reported place just to find two of her other friends in the middle of dealing with a group of Fluids. Those monsters with each height capped at most 3 meters tall are cornering a pair of girls with blonde and orange hair who are doing an amazing job in distracting those Fluids from straying towards the residential area.

“Chaeyeon, we are doing alright. There’s another girl with a few kids with her!”

“Go help that girl!”

The blonde, Yena, and the orange-hair, Yuri, quacked at her which Chaeyeon nodded curtly while slaying a few critical parts of those Fluids before sprinting off. Her eyes wildly search for the figures like Yena and Yuri said and a desperate, loud cry can be heard a few hundred feet from her current position. Hastening her pace, Chaeyeon sheaths her other swords as she rushes towards the source of those wails.

“Unnie! Don’t fight alone!”

“I’m okay, Chaewon-ah! Take care of Minjoo, Yujin and Wonyoung for me. This will be a quick one.”

A kid no older than ten years old looks concerned at the older girl who is fighting brilliantly against a group of Fluids which acts extra aggressive around this bunch of people. Chaeyeon couldn’t help but be amazed looking at the form of the girl with short, galaxy-black hair color which sways along rhythm of the wind as she slashed those hideous beasts effortlessly. However, Chaeyeon did notice that the unknown beauty’s movement grew slower with every kill she made and realized that the girl couldn’t fight properly as more Fluids appeared and tried snatching away those kids.

Fluids never choose their prey, Chaeyeon thought. Usually, those monsters will kill the one who fights first and proceed hunting the rest of their target afterwards. The Crimson Slayer strengthened her grip on the swords before rushing in to aid this group of strangers. She felt intrigued with their presence and wondered about the causes behind these bunch of Fluids peculiar behavior around them but then, Chaeyeon told herself that she needs to save them first.

“Whoa, lady who are you?”

The girl who seems like the oldest stood in front of the kids while spreading her thin arms, trying to protect those trembling children behind her small back. Her bangs however make this girl with doe-like eyes seem cute rather than daunting in Chaeyeon eyes.

“She got a diamond tag! She must be strong like Eunbi unnie!”

Another kid with blue hair exclaimed as she tugs the clothes of a timid looking girl with cat-like eyes.

“Unnie, p-please help Eunbi unnie to d-defeat those monsters!”

The timid girl with pointy nose and eyes as sharp as cats seems able to muster her courage and beg for help despite stuttering.

“Will you help us to drive those monsters away?”

A young girl who is around six years old tottered towards Chaeyeon and held the hem of her

Chaeyeon certainly didn’t expect to see a group of adorable girls literally clinging around her and begging for this Crimson Slayer to help their beloved unnie. She couldn’t help but see images of her late sisters in them. Crossing her swords, Chaeyeon swung her weapon and turned those Fluids into mincemeat before transporting the girls towards a secured place, “You girls stay here. Be quiet and wait for me and your unnie to pick you up, okay?”

“You promise? Pinky promise?”

The youngest one among those kids, a lovable child with rosy cheeks and straight black hair trotted towards Chaeyeon and extended her tiny pinky finger. Taking a deep breath, Chaeyeon kneeled beside the girl and linked her pinky toward the small kid which resembles a baby bunny before stamping their promise with a stamp on the thumb.

“I promise. Now you all be a good kid and wait for us, okay?”

After making sure that the kids are able to settle down, Chaeyeon heads back towards the site where the ethereal beauty was fighting and perplexed upon seeing a pile of Fluid's corpse as soon as she arrived. The beauty, Eunbi, whom Chaeyeon knew her names courtesy of the kids who couldn’t stop whining and mentioning the name, marched furiously towards her for some reasons.

“Where did you take my kids?”

“Whoa, there, lady. They are safe, I promise.”

“I don’t need your promise. Where are they?”

“They are in a safe place, guaranteed by the Association.”

At the mention of the Association, the lady’s gaze turned ablaze as she drew the blood dripping sword towards Chaeyeon’s neck, grazing her skin slightly. “Why would you take them away when I am doing just fine fending those beasts away?”

Frowning at this lady’s discourtesy, Chaeyeon clicked her tongue and deflected the sword away from her neck using her hidden dagger. Glowering at the lady, Chaeyeon growled, “Look, I don’t see why you would act so ungrateful when I literally helped you secure them from being snatched by those Fluids. No, I don’t expect any gratitude from you but think about those kids. They literally screamed their lungs out while watching you fight alone.”

“What? Don’t be too nosy, Miss-Know-It-All. You barely know us and you dare to advise me? off with your attitude.”

She couldn’t believe such a response from this snobbish girl. Chaeyeon snorted in disbelief at this shorter woman who resembles a fierce rabbit. She felt a bit disappointed in Eunbi’s behavior which resulted in her just clicking her tongue before gesturing with her head for the girl to follow her lead.

What is the function that you have such a pretty face when you act all nasty?

Chaeyeon grumbles as she climbs a building and carefully removes a few physical barriers she hastily makes, revealing four anxious kids behind the door.

“Unnie! You are safe!”

The leader of the kids tackled the feisty woman’s waits and buried her small face while sighing in relieved.

“Thank you brave unnie, you did fulfil your promise!”

The youngest one beamed with happiness as she grinned gleefully at Chaeyeon before hugging one of Eunbi’s thighs.

“Eunbi unnie, are you hurt anywhere?”

The timid girl portrays her concern while rummaging her pocket with those tiny hands, trying to find any medkit; an alternative to first aid kit, to treat any wounds inflicted on Eunbi.

“Eunbi unnie is strong, this red-haired unnie must be strong too because she is able to lift four of us in one go!”

An innocent looking girl with blue hair exclaimed as she showed her deep dimples with eyes gleaming with respect mixed with curiosity towards Chaeyeon.

Standing in the middle of this peculiar group, the Crimson Slayer couldn’t help but felt intrigued by their sudden appearance in the area. “Where will you girls head next?”

“Not your business-”

“Eunbi unnie, didn’t you teach us to be polite with people who helped us?”

The youngest girl with straight hair directly shoots her question while tilting those adorable heads while pouting. Chaeyeon is truly amazed seeing the feisty woman flustered at the question while biting her lips. Eunbi kneeled beside the kid and patted her head, “Wonyoung-ah, we do need to be polite with people that helped us but remember, we also need to be cautious around others.”

“Why is that, unnie? Didn’t this pretty unnie help us because she is kind?”

“Well, not all people are truly kind. Just make sure to always be careful around strangers, okay?”

The little girl let agape for a few seconds, clearly trying to digest the matured woman’s words before nodding reluctantly. “B-but she did fulfill her promise to come back safe with you. So, she is a good person, right?”

“Wonnie, why are you insisting like this? Usually you will just listen to Eunbi unnie’s words.”

The blue-haired girl stepped beside the black-haired kid while shooting an intrigued look. She felt rather curious seeing the usually calm and gentle bunny-like girl becoming stubborn out of sudden. The Wonyoung that she knew never ever rebut Eunbi unnie’s words but not today. That is what Chaeyeon guesses from observing the curious glance of the blue-haired kid while crossing her arms, silently leaning against one of the collapsed walls.

“It’s just… She felt different from other people that we encountered so far. See, Jinnie? No malice, no hatred. Just a gentle blue feels coming from her, like an ocean.”

The kid’s words startled Chaeyeon who flinched when all five pairs of eyes suddenly turned towards her and looked from the bottom to the top for a good minute. Scratching her cheek, the blue-haired kid pursed her chubby cheeks while marching closer towards Chaeyeon and sniffed like a puppy, “Wonnie is right. She smells different. Rather than feel greed, I can sense a deep scar from her. Maybe this unnie is scared of something but she is a good person, Eunbi unnie.”

The Crimson Slayer just dropped her jaws at these kid’s unusual behavior and their mysterious words about scent and whatnot. Who are they, really? Shooting her glance towards their guardian, Chaeyeon almost dropped her jaws seeing the rude but beautiful face free of frown. The short-haired woman has such a sharp figure, her pointy nose complements those luscious lips which is a perfect fit for the milky skin- Okay, stop! Chaeyeon shook her head slightly as she could feel some weird idea started popping inside her head.

I am just tired from running around. Yeah, that’s it.

She deduced about her little appreciation towards the beauty as a form of her mind signaling the Crimson Slayer about her exhausted self. Snapping back into reality, Chaeyeon eyes wandered towards the kids (no, she definitely didn’t avoid Eunbi’s fierce gaze), and noticed that the kids had no shoes and looked rather exhausted. Their skin which only wrapped their bones didn’t look healthy at all in Chaeyeon’s eyes. Thus, she cleared and ultimately earned a ferocious glare from Eunbi who growled, “What?”

Chaeyeon reminded herself not to snapped at Eunbi who is always on edge despite them both just meeting for less than an hour. With a strained smile, Chaeyeon uttered, “Do you girls have any destination in mind or in need of a place to live? My place is a little too big for three people and can easily accommodate five of you.”

“No, thank you. We can just sleep in the inn and-”

Although the black-haired woman with a long sword tried refusing Chaeyeon’s offer, the wavy, talkative kid from earlier butted into the conversation, “But unnie, didn’t you say we are running short of money?”

“Wonnie, it’s rude to interrupt when the adults are talking!”

She felt like looking at her younger sisters when the blue-haired kid reprimands the youngest girl who pouted and looks-like she is on the verge of crying. Before she can shed off her tears, another kid with cat-like eyes scooted closer and envelops the youngest girl with a warm hug while shaking her head towards the blue-haired girl, “Yuding, stop scolding Wonnie. You will lose your hair at this rate if you keep on being angry.”

“What? Will I be going bald like the uncle from the south? No, I don’t want to be like him!”

The little kid’s conversation makes Chaeyeon grin internally. For a Slayer like her, encountering such innocence is a rare occurrence as dealing with Fluids needs her to be cunning, ruthless and heartless. Facing such a warm scene makes Chaeyeon feel like healing for a bit from her fatigue but before she can turn back towards Eunbi and offer her home as a place to stay for the group, a soft thud can be heard from the kid’s.

“Chaewon unnie!”

“Oh no, Chaewon!”

The oldest kid with a bang suddenly fell onto the ground with a flushed red face. Eunbi rushed towards the kid with an exasperated face while planting her palm onto Chaewon’s forehead.

“She is sick. It seems she had been holding herself all this time.”

Eunbi grumbles while biting her lips.

“Will she die? Like the kids in the villages?”

The timid girl with cat-like eyes already tearing up while scooting closer towards the collapsed Chaewon.

“No, she won’t die. I promise.”

How can she just leave them when one of the children clearly needs her help? Screw with Eunbi who is acting like an . Chaeyeon knew that she had to help this kid because she had the capability to do so. Lifting the scrawny kid from Eunbi’s arms, she just turned towards the speechless woman who suddenly had this dark expression in her eyes, as if having a difficult battle inside her mind.

“You can curse me later and whatnot but first, let’s treat this kid first.”

“W-why are you helping us? You don’t even know us.”

Chaeyeon paused her hurried steps at Eunbi’s words and took a deep breath before answering, “I don’t need any reason to act like how a normal human does. I can help, then I help. That’s that.”

Kneeling on the floor, Chaeyeon asked the youngest, Wonyoung to climb on her back as Eunbi might have a hard time carrying all three kids on her own while running through the devastated town.

It took them barely five minutes as they rushed inside Chaeyeon’s house on the hills which startled her housemates who were about to leave. The lilac-haired girl looks in faze at Chaeyeon who brought a total of five strangers into their home but upon seeing a shallow-breath kid in the Crimson Slayer’s arm, she abruptly opened the door, “Come, bring her into the living room!”

“Kang-chan, here is some potion for the kid.”

Sakura swiftly handed a suitable cure for Chaewon while briskly walked into the kitchen to whip something for the guests. Chaeyeon is comforting the sobbing trio who kept on whining about losing their friends over a fever.

“Unnie, will Chaewon unnie die? My friend died because of fever too.”

The blue-haired kid tearing up as she twisted her lips down while trying not to wail.

“Is it because I ask too much? Is Chaewon unnie sick because of me?”

The wavy-haired kid who resembles a bunny clings on Chaeyeon’s thighs as she tries looking for an answer for their beloved sister’s sudden sickness.

“W-will Chaewonie leave me too? Like my parents?”

The last kid’s words somehow make Chaeyeon curious about the kids. She thought all of them are blood-sisters and Eunbi is their parent but it seems that things might be a little bit different that she thought. However, those aren’t important for now. Even though she barely knew these kids, Chaeyeon isn’t that inhuman to let them cry like this. Thus, she knelt and pulled all of them into one big hug while whispering, “It’s okay. Chaewon will be alright. My friends are a great Healer Slayer. They have the diamond tags, just like me!”

Fishing out her tags, Chaeyeon flashed the mesmerizing, dazzling tags and put it on her palm, bringing it closer for the kids to have a look. She usually didn’t do this because a tag is like a Slayer’s life. Their livelihood depending on the data stored within the tag. Simply put, Chaeyeon will have a hard time if she ever loses or breaks her tag. A diamond tag is hard to make even for the Slayer Association because the mine was infested with Fluids and not many Slayers can take on a nest of Fluids without injuring themselves.

“H-how can you be so sure?”

The blue-haired kid sniffles as her eyes gazed towards the tag in awe. Chaeyeon grinned at the kid and patted her head, “High chances that your friend, Chaewon is dehydrated. Maybe she needs to drink more because her body is hot.”

“B-but water is hard to get. We need to kill a Fluid to get some water.”

The cat-eyed kid hangs her head while fidgeting in her place.

“Or tame it, like how Eunbi unnie used to do before whenever we stumble upon Fluids that aren't that dangerous.”

Chaeyeon for sure is surprised at the youngest’s words. Never in her life she ever thought that those ferocious Fluids can be tame.

“Shh, Wonnie. Didn’t Eunbi unnie warn us not to talk about that out loud?”

“Oopsie. I’m sorry.”

The small girl plastered her tiny palm onto those dried lips. Her eyes wavered while gulping hard, trying her best not to make any more sound as Chaeyeon was eyeing her silently. There’s a lot of questions popped inside the Crimson Slayer’s head. Those Fluids have peculiar behavior. This new piece of information about taming Fluids. About these unknown kids and the beauty who acts as their guardian. Heaving a deep sigh, Chaeyeon carved a smile on her face while patting the youngest’s head.

“Well, you girls must be exhausted, right? Do you want to take a nap first?”

They look a little bit glad that Chaeyeon didn’t press for more information from them but then, there’s still feelings of discomfort lingering within their eyes. Chaeyeon guesses that their guardian must tell them not to easily accept any stranger’s offer which makes her exhale sharply. Pushing her knees against the ground, Chaeyeon let the kids sit in the kitchen while slurping down a cup of hot chocolate, a rare delicacy for people in this age, while she went to negotiate with Eunbi.

Truthfully, she really wants to make this group spill everything about them but then, Chaeyeon reminded herself that everyone has a little secret to be kept to themselves. Thus, she pursed her lips and pouted for a bit while staring at the back of the worried guardian who is waiting patiently for the fainted kid on the bed.

What should I ask her? How do I start a conversation again?

She couldn’t fathom reasons behind her nervousness to strike a talk with this woman. Is it because her social skill deteriorates due to spending most of her time hunting and killing Fluids? Maybe she felt these butterflies fluttered within the deepest pit of her stomach because of Eunbi’s amazing skill in handling those Fluids earlier? While she is busy contemplating on how to greet Eunbi, a calm voice chimes into the room which jolted Chaeyeon awake from her little thinking.

“Here, I brought some water for you and a wet towel for the kid.”

Hyewon appeared in the room while carrying a bowl of water as well as a mug of warm chocolate drink towards Eunbi who had a grave look in her eyes. It’s as if the girl is trying not to shed any tears or portray her weakness in front of people. Chaeyeon instantly pitied the girl with tiny shoulders which seems to have tons of burden on her small crown.

“The kid, Chaewon, she will be alright. Hyewon is the best healer in this world and Sakura’s food able to revive even the person who is on the verge of death.”

“That’s… A high praise coming from the Fluids slaying machine, Crimson Slayer Lee Chaeyeon.”

Chuckles escapes from Hyewon as a small curve formed on those thin lips of the lilac-haired girl. She then bopped her head towards the bob-cut hair girl while extending her hands, “The name Hyewon. This is Chaeyeon and the pink-haired is Sakura. We might not seem that reliable but I can assure that our skills are far beyond your imagination.”

“Yah, that’s downright bragging, Hyewon-ah.”

Chaeyeon nudged her friend who just rolled her eyes before ruffling her hair and tilted towards the short-haired girl. She jerked her eyebrows, sending a signal that she is waiting for the girl to introduce herself. Chaeyeon realized that the beauty clenched her clothes for a bit before starting her late introduction, “Thank you for your hospitality. My name is Eunbi, Kwon Eunbi.”

“Wait, Kwon Eunbi? The one that slay four of the Ferocious Seven a few years before?”

Hyewon’s eyes twinkle with excitement as she clasped Eunbi’s hands. The woman looks surprised and abashed at Hyewon’s words. Chaeyeon almost dropped her jaws when Eunbi nodded, admitting Hyewon’s claim about her. Ferocious Seven, a name dubbed by the Slayer Association for the strongest Fluids which acts like a final boss in each continent. She heard about the young slayer, the Legendary Slayer who conquered four of those Ferocious Seven; alone. It’s been awhile since she heard about the slayer as no one has seen the Legendary Slayer for some reason. Public only learned about the name of their savior, Kwon Eunbi.

No wonder her skills are amazing. What kind of training did she do? Why did she suddenly come back to Asia? Where did she go after defeating those Fluids? Wait, didn’t the kids mention that she didn’t have any money? How is that possible?

Countless questions popped inside Chaeyeon’s head as soon as Eunbi affirmed that she indeed is the Legendary Slayer. Before Chaeyeon can open , Hyewon already blurted, “So you are the mother of four adorable kids already, huh?”

“Well, life is full of surprises, isn’t it?”

Eunbi just chuckles along with Hyewon while diverting their talk towards Chaewon who slowly regains color on her face. Chaeyeon knew that Eunbi must be hiding something. Earlier, the kid with cat-like eyes just spouted that her parents were killed, which she regards as high chances these kids are Eunbi’s adoptive children. She is intrigued on why the woman took them in as there’s for sure a lot of orphans out there but she dares not to question Eunbi’s intention.

“Jjaeyeon, the association is calling you about your mission in the north.”

“Oh shoot, I totally forgot about my mission.”

“They also inquired about something regarding Fluids invasion in our city. Is that true?”

Due to their house located a bit far away from the town, it is normal for Sakura and Hyewon to not know about those sudden Fluids rampaging earlier. She herself just knew about it when she was in town. It is fortunate that both Yena and Yuri are in town to fend off those Fluids. Chaeyeon’s eyes fall onto Eunbi, the person who fell the most Fluids from earlier.

“W-well, yeah. It is fortunate that-”

“Chaeyeon, right? Can we talk? Alone.”

Without giving Chaeyeon any moment to finish her words nor responding to Sakura’s inquiry the shorter yet stronger girl grabbed Chaeyeon’s hands and dragged her outside of her house. They both stood facing each other with Eunbi cautiously shooting her glares towards the surrounding before heaving a deep sigh while frowning.

“About those Fluids from earlier, can you claim that all of them were slayed by you?”

If anything, Chaeyeon would say that Eunbi is crazy. There’s no one in this world who will ever pass the chance of accumulating more wealth to themselves. Plus, defeating those mountains of Fluids for sure will ease Eunbi and the kid’s financial burden. Heck, they all might even be able to live in a better house if Eunbi just reports about her feat. Chaeyeon couldn’t fathom the Eunbi train of thoughts at all. She just shakes her head and stares directly into those pairs of alluring eyes, “Why would I?”

“Well, you’ve got diamond tags. Those people for sure will believe it if you say so.”

Chapter 15: Ahhh that flashback was really heartbreaking. Eunbi really went through a hard time, but thankfully Chaeyeon was there to help her. This story belongs on my top list so far 😋

Chapter 14: "Will you let me go if I say that I'm tired?" And that's when I broke down...

I knew this part would come up but still 😭

Chapter 13: The start was a very straightforward move, confidence level: 💯 I thought it would angst at the end but thankfully it's not haha. This is so sweet~
