Huntsman

Jongho and The Seven Elves

The next day, King Jinyoung gets a visit from a huntsman.

They are inside his bedroom, standing in front of the mirror.

"So you are Gunhak from Luna, aren't you?" the king asks.

"That's correct." the young huntsman responds.

"I have heard that you are the best huntsman of them all." he says, while looking at the magic mirror.

"That might be true."

"So I want you to do something for me." he tells him.

"What is it, Your Majesty?"

"I want you to take Prince Jongho to the forest and kill him."

The huntsman looks at him in shock. "You want me to kill him?"

"Yes." He says and then he walks over to the table next to the bed and picks up an old jewelry box. "And afterwards, as a proof, you shall put his heart in this box and return it to me." Then he gives the young man the box.

"Your wish is my command." he responds as he receives the box.

Jongho and Gunhak are in the forest together.

"There are a lot of beautiful trees." the prince says.

"I know." the huntsman says with a cold expression.

"So why did you bring me here?" Jongho asks.

"Well..." he says, sweating nervously. "It is a nice weather to go for a walk in the forest."

Jongho looks at the fluffy clouds. "You're right about that."

The prince then keeps staring at the clouds with a smile on his face.

Gunhak takes his knife out of the sheath in his belt.

He slowly walks towards him, feeling his heart beat fast.

Then Jongho looks him in the eyes, making his heart skip a beat.

"Excuse me, but what are doing?" Jongho asks.

The huntsman keeps holding his knife, his hand shaking. He looks at the prince's face, and he starts admiring it.

"Sorry, I can't do it." Gunhak says, feeling tears wanting to escape his eyes.

"You can't do what?"

"Your Highness." he says. "The king wants you dead."

Jongho's eyes widen. "What? Why would he want me dead?"

"I don't know. But the king told me to kill you." he says. "But I can't do it."

Jongho is shaking in fear.

"Forgive me, Your Highness." Tears run down his cheeks.

"I'll forgive you."

"I think that it would be a good idea for you to flee into the woods and never return to the castle." he says. "Don't worry, prince, I'll tell the king that you are dead."

Jongho doesn't say a word and runs away from him.

"Please don't return." he yells.

Jongho runs as fast as he can in the woods, having a lot of thoughts in his mind.

Why does my stepfather want to kill me?

When will I see my friend, Hyunjin, again?

Is it really a good idea to never return to the castle?

Gunhak returns to the castle with the jewelry box in his hands.

He has just been been to the butcher and asked for a pig's heart.

He walks inside the castle and sees the king.

"So," the king says. "Have you killed him?"

"Yes, I have, Your Majesty." he responds and gives him the box.

He opens the box, looking at the bloody heart inside.

A smile appears on his face.

The smile makes Gunhak shiver in fear and makes him feel disgust.

He really hopes that the king doesn't hurt him.

He doesn't want him to hurt the first guy that he has fallen for.

Jongho is walking in the woods, listening to birds singing.

The birds' singing makes him think of when his mother used to sing lullabys for him before he went to sleep.

He also remembers how she also used to kiss his forehead before he fell asleep and how it made him feel safe.

As he walks he suddenly sees a cottage infront of him.

He wonders if anyone lives there.

He walks towards the cottage, hoping that if there really does live some people in that cottage, he hopes that they are friendly.

He knocks on the door.

His heart beats nervously, really hoping that there are friendly people living there.

The door opens and he sees a guy in front of him with pointy ears and hair as blue as sapphire.

Because of his ears, Jongho assumes that he must be an elf.

But refuses to believe it because they only exist in legends and fairytales.

"Greetings." the elf says.

"Greetings."

"What do you want?"

"Uhm... I'm just..." he says, but then gets interupted.

"Come in." The blue haired guy says with a smile and grabs his wrist, pulling him inside the cottage. "Everyone, we have a guest." he says loudly.

"Uhm... thank you." Jongho says.

"What is your name?" the elf asks and then tells him. "Mine is Hongjoong."

I got kind of emotional while writing chapter 4, but I'm not going to publish it yet.
