“Baëkhyun!” Minji hollered through the entire flat, making the demon groan in annoyance. “Baëkhyuuun!”

“What?”

“Baëkhyun! Baëkhyuuuuun!”

“What?!”

“Come here please!” She heard him whining and cursing through her flat, clearly not happy about this. His eyes were dyed red when he finally appeared at the front door, glaring at her with an intensity that would have made other humans run for their lives.

“I want to go shopping.”

“Why are you telling me this?” he grumbled.

“Because I was hoping you would accompany me,” she smiled like an angel. “Please? It’s my day off and I want to spend time with you.”

“Why?” he asked and leaned forward to capture her eyes with his.

She opened to answer but found that she didn’t know what to say, so she stared at him like he had hypnotized her. His lips soon curled into a devilish smirk that succeeded in making her blush deep red.

“You can’t resist me, huh?” he drawled arrogantly, his amusement growing the more flustered she became. “You want to be close to me all day long,” he drawled.

“That’s… not it,” she stuttered.

“Like I’d believe that, sugar,” he smirked. “Then why are you nervous suddenly?”

Intending to mess with her a bit more, he took another step closer and cornered her at the door, not breaking eye contact. Her breath hitched and her eyes were glued to his lips that were too close for her to keep calm.

“I’m not nervous,” she breathed unconvincingly.

“Who are you trying to fool?” he chuckled.

“Baëkhyun! I was just… asking if you want to accompany me, nothing more,” she said and bit her lip.

“Is it a date?”

Her eyes went wide in a second and she stared right into his sky-blue ones, speechless.

“Okay, it’s a date,” he decided and nodded to himself, quickly grabbing his leather jacket so they could leave. Minji on the other hand stood frozen to the ground and didn’t move an inch until he impatiently tugged at her hand.

“Come on, I want to leave!” he complained and that finally freed her from her bewildered state. She followed him out the door and to her car, keeping her eyes locked on his white hair and the braids that dangled over his back.

When Baëkhyun had decided to accompany her into town, he certainly hadn’t expected to be dragged into one clothing store after the other, through various sections and from one story to the next. He ended up carrying two full shopping bags for her while she browsed the make-up section of yet another shop. The demon didn’t remember how many they had entered until now, and it irked him that she was more busy looking at random items than at him.

That wasn’t how he had imagined their date to go. She could have at least warned him about her intentions, but no, she hadn’t said anything about an hour-long shopping spree.

Then again, it didn’t matter what she had planned. He wouldn’t have let her leave the house on her own anyway… he would have accompanied her since he wasn’t about to get careless. The invisible danger looming over them couldn’t be underestimated. Baëkhyun stayed vigilant and his dark glower might have scared some humans off; not that he would care about them. Whenever he sensed a demon nearby, he got suspicious, and his cautious behavior didn’t stay hidden from Minji. She noticed his tension and decided that she had shopped for long enough.

“We should bring the shopping bags to the car,” she suggested. “And then we could head to the nearby park? I heard they put up Christmas decoration and pretty lights.”

She interlaced her fingers with his and lightly squeezed his hand, smiling warmly.

“Alright,” he answered, thinking that this sounded more like the date he had imagined. They walked towards the exit of the mall, and when they stepped through the doors, a surprise awaited them. Countless snowflakes floated from the sky, transforming the city into a winter wonderland. It must have been snowing for a while already since the boardwalk was covered in white. Minji beamed, excitedly holding out her hand to catch a few snowflakes.

“So pretty,” she breathed, enthralled by the sight.

Baëkhyun on the other hand was less impressed by the cold snow, scrunching his nose. “What is this crap?” he grumbled.

“Uh… have you never seen snow before?” she gaped at him.

He cringed. “Of course I have! What the hell, Minji?! I just… find it annoying,” he said as they walked towards the parking lot.

“Annoying?” she echoed, gazing at him. “I love snow! It makes everything look soft… and you can build snowmen and have snowball fights!”

He cracked a smirk, sensing her giddy happiness within his chest. “If it makes you happy, that’s all I care about.”

She blushed and cast her gaze on the snowy pavement. It was riddled with shoeprints, but new snowflakes soon formed another layer of thin snow on top of them. The couple reached the car and dumped the shopping bags in the trunk. Minji’s excitement grew as more and more snowflakes hailed from the sky. She wore a permanent smile on her lips. Baëkhyun kept holding her hand and let her lead him to her destination; the park area that was nearby.

It wasn’t as crowded since most people had sought shelter from the snow, and Minji liked it this way. The trees and plants were already white, looking like someone had put powdered sugar on them. They passed a playground where a few children played in the snow, their cheerful laughter making the smile on her lips brighten.

“Baëkhyun, look!” she said and pointed ahead to a small square in the middle of the park. It was decorated with star-shaped lights hanging in the trees and red Christmas ornaments. More people were around in this area, mingling close to a small bakery that sold snacks and hot chocolate.

“Let’s get hot chocolate!” she gushed, making him chuckle.

“Yeah, yeah. Calm down, sugar,” he grinned.

She smiled and they approached the square, but when Baëkhyun stopped abruptly, so did she. Confused, she looked at him. He was staring at the trees next to them and she followed his gaze, but she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. However, when she heard a soft cry, she stiffened. It had sounded like a child and it worried her.

“What was that?” she asked concernedly, furrowing her brows.

“Some low-class demons are lurking over there,” he replied as his eyeshade became red. “I think they’re… after a human.”

“We have to help!” she decided, and to her surprise, he obliged immediately. They left the path and walked on, passing trees and small bushes.

“Stay behind me,” he ordered, walking ahead to take a closer look at what was happening. They spotted a young boy cowering in the snow. He couldn’t have been older than five and was surrounded by bloodthirsty demons that growled at him and nipped at his winter jacket. Minji assumed that the boy was unable to see the demons but still felt them and heard their scary snarls.

“How dare they attack a child,” Minji hissed.

Baëkhyun waved his hand and shot hot light at the demons. They screeched angrily, leaving the boy alone for just a moment, directing their attention at Baëkhyun. Minji used the opportunity and ran up to the boy, kneeling down next to him to comfort him. She gently patted his back and hugged him.

“It’s okay, you’re safe,” she whispered. “You don’t need to cry, I promise you will be fine.”

Surprised, the boy looked up at her with large glossy eyes, only now realizing that she was speaking to him. “W-Who are you?” he asked quietly.

“My name is Minji,” she smiled, making sure he didn’t notice what was happening behind him. Baëkhyun viciously attacked the low-class demons with his light, and they turned to ash one after the other. A few escaped, but he didn’t pursue them, opting to stay with her and the boy instead.

“ing low lives,” he grumbled to himself and walked back to her and the boy. “Did something happen to him?”

“Are you okay?” Minji asked the boy who rubbed his eyes with his gloved hands.

“Yes,” he mumbled. “B-But I lost mommy and daddy,” he sniffled. “T-The weird ghost distracted m-me and now I don’t know where they are.”

“I see,” she said with a sigh. “You know what? We’re heading back to the square and maybe your parents are somewhere nearby looking for you.” She kept a reassuring smile on her lips and got up, taking his hand.

“Noona?”

“Yes?” she replied.

“Thanks,” he said, looking shyly at the ground. She bit her lip, finding him incredibly adorable.

“It’s fine,” she smiled. “What’s your name?”

“Jian.”

“Alright, Jian. We’re going to help you find your mom and dad,” she said and took his hand to lead him back to the square. Baëkhyun walked on the boy’s other side, his eyes drifting over the humans mingling around near the small bakery.

“Do you see your parents anywhere?” he asked. Jian looked at him with wide eyes—he had been sneaking glances at the demon this whole time, but Baëkhyun hadn’t acknowledged them so far, finding the child’s behavior mildly annoying.

“Um…” Jian mumbled and looked around, trying to spot his parents, but judging by his saddened expression, he was unsuccessful. “They’re not here.”

His shoulders slumped and he seemed close to tears. When his lower lip began to tremble, Minji decided that she needed to distract him a bit until they would find his parents. She assumed that th

Chapter 50: What a beautiful journey. I've read 3 of your stories and each one was amazing.
I didn't think that BaekHyun would someday suggest to have a family and children, but Minji was really able to change him and bring the good out of him. Her character is really soft and kind, she's patient and doesn't take his smugness and difficult personality to heart, she always understood him and enjoyed everything he did. And that was the reason they stayed together, because she saw the good in him and accepted him regardless of what he was or where he came from.

Chapter 28: What I really like about the girl in this story is that despite her fear and trauma she managed to find her own strength and get over her fear. In other stories they try to make the guy help her get over her fear and insecurity but that wasn't the case in this one, Bäekhyun didn't do much on that aspect, she was tired of being weak and didn't want to be a burden, practiced her magic and used it to help others. And in the end she was the only one to help BaekHyun and save her life, when all thought that she would only be the reason for him to die.

Chapter 9: I was fascinated when mochi transformed into cheetah, it was stunning to know that little creature would change to protect her. And seeing Baek's strong powers and his relentless personality when attacking the vampire made me think how would he react when he falls in love with her and she falls into danger! It would be hell on earth.

I really like the way you describe things, I could imagine the portal and see the flames of hell she got to see. Definitely not a pleasant sight.
