Chapter 5: Cost of Living

That day the sun wasn't shining, there was weeping all around, everything was surrounded by flowers, and you'd think that it was something happy if it was all surrounded by flower, but no it was just another funeral, of another human, not like anyone cared, Tao fell to the ground as he wept in sorrow, all of a sudden two men came up behind him, they tapped him on the shoulder and asked him:
"Excuse me, can we have a little chat."
After Tao had calmed down he followed the two men, they were detectives, and were investigating the murder of his friend, for who he cared so deeply for. Tao went into their car and they asked him:
"Well then, can you tell us the first thing you remember."
Tao answered in a short breath:
"Fire."

39 hours before the present.

"Your friends are in this building, you have 20 minutes to find them before Alizeé kills them, if you don't find one in 10 minutes one will die, that is all...GO!"

Tao ran out the door, in front of him was the most disgusting scene he had ever seen, the room was filled with a kind of dark and suffocating air, and the stench was unbearable, blood flooded the room, and all the lights were broken, but honestly Tao didn't know if he would be able to survive to see what was in front of him. He just wanted to run away, he was so scared, but right now the life of his friends were more important and time was ticking, Tao quickly ran up the stairs, he looked in every room, but before he entered every room he had to hold his breath and try to calm down from all the fear that was rushing to his head. The building had 25 floors, and he had to go to every room and find at least one person until 10 minutes were up, Tao was overflowing with sweat, he ended up on 18 floor and he had stormed into the last room on the floor, in that room he saw Se Hun tied to a chair, many cables were around his friend's body and many needles were stuck in his body, Tao didn't know if they were drugs or anesthetic agents or analgesics or barbiturates or just plain carbon monoxide. All he knew is that he had to get him out of that chair fast. The machine from where the fluid or gas was going to come out from had a timer, and there were only a couple of seconds left. Tao quickly grabbed his friend and put him on his back. Se Hun was beat up pretty badly, and it didn't look like he could get him to wake up, but he was alive and breathing. Tao looked up on the watch and he noticed that he only had 13 more minutes. He took Se Hun on his back and started running towards the top of the building, he finally reached the last floor and slammed the door open, he was on the verge of crying, there were only 3 minutes left. But the moment he came in he saw someone passed out on a bed, he was sure it was Mei since he saw beautiful long black hair on the bed, he put Se Hun down for a minute and started running towards her, he quickly grabbed her and puller her up, but she was bigger, and she was way different, he pulled her hair out of her face, behind that little wig was Alizeé, she grinned at Tao and whispered:

"The basement...good luck."

Tao quickly let her go and grabbed Se Hun, he was already crying like a little lost boy, he just didn't care anymore, so many people around him dead, he didn't know them and he didn't care, all that was important right now was to save Mei. He ran and he ran until he finally reached the basement, there was only one door there, he quickly opened it, right there on a bed was Mei, Mei was strapped down to the bed she looked at Tao, she was sobbing silently hoping to be rescued, she looked at him and was so scared that she could only mouth:

"Save me..."

Tao's face became bright as he ran up to Mei, but he stopped when he heard a sudden loud noise, like a fire alarm, and someone saying:

"Time's up!"

He reached for Mei, but as he reached out to her he noticed that she had already started burning, and that he and Se Hun were surrounded by flames.
