a wall
let's play! The sound of the ball. It was there, right in front of her. Sweat dripping down her forehead with her arm outstretched, wings sprouting from her back. Why wasn't it moving? Nothing was moving anymore. Fear written in her eyes. Right there. All she had to do was hit. Where was it? The ball was gone. Her heart pounded in her ears, blood pumping through her veins yet she couldn't. A wall blocked her way, the tallest one yet. It made her legs tremble, made her heart drop into her stomach. Fear had never struck her this hard.
It's impossible.
She couldn't do it.
She can't.
The sound of the ball. It hit the ground, touched only by the fingertips of the setter. Screams flew up in the air but it seemed it was at her. Shock plastered her eyes, skin turning white as she stood there frozen like a statue. No. This wasn't supposed to happen. Fear had gotten the best of her, she couldn't get the ball. The wall was too high.
"it's your fault."
Words burned in her mind, echoing as if she was in an endless cave.
"you made us lose."
No. No it wasn't her. The wall! The wall was too high.
"we could've won if it wasn't for you."
The sound of the ball...
was gone.
