Mornings

Blank Pages

Lisa rose slowly from her sleep. When she opened her eyes she felt something on her chest which got her confused for a second until she looked down and her brain finally woke up enough to remember what happened last night.

Jennie’s head was nuzzled into Lisa's chest, the thai girl’s arm around the brunette’s body, keeping her in place.

Last night was incredible, after the gala what was meant to be a two hour drive was made in one to Lisa’s place, their bodies together as one there really is something about being like that with someone that’s is so special, and boy was it special with Jennie, they went for several rounds all night but the best thing wasn’t that, the best thing was the small conversations they had in between, or the quiet moments they shared just staring at each other.

She noticed the brunette was still clutching at her shirt and she felt the weight of Jennie’s leg across her own. She couldn’t help but smile at this,  who knew the brunette was a cuddler? Usually Jennie doesn’t start contact or very rarely does she ever does, usually is Lisa who places her arm around her or holds her hand, she thinks maybe Jennie is the kind of person who saves affections for certain occasions only, either way Lisa is not going to complain .

As she turned to look at the bedside clock she groaned internally and closed her eye, annoyed. The bad part of being a bookstore owner of course meant that if there was new arrivals in the store she was the only one who could received them, God damn her love for books and the total mistrust she had on how other people treat them even if it came in the form of her best friend.

Quietly and gently she attempted to shift from Jennie's grip but the latter only tightened her grip. Smiling the taller girl started whispering to slowly wake the other girl up.

"Jennie." She said gently.

“Mmm.” Was the response she received

"Jen." She tried again.

“No.” The other girl snuzzled further into her chest, tightening her grip once again.

"Jennie Ruby Jane Kim."

"Oh my God, what?." She said sleepy, her eyes still closed.

Lisa smiled at the cuteness.  "I gotta get up."

Jennie sighed. "You have a nice heartbeat." She murmured with a small smile, the words coming out of before she even knew she had said them. It was weird for Jennie, to feel so close to someone in such a short time, and it was scary.

After two seconds, Jennie released her hold on Lisa “If you bring me breakfast, you are free to go.”

“Deal.” The younger girl sat up on the side of the bed, pulling her hair up in a ponytail as Jennie stayed on the bed watching how Lisa got ready to go out, the first thing she noticed was how Lisa’s back muscles moved, she noticed how moved when she drank water from her bedside table, she really was ethereal, as cheesy as it sounds.

After Lisa had changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt she walked towards the side of the bed and sat besides the brunette.

“I was thinking maybe we can have a small get together here? My friend Bambam keeps bothering me for a barbecue and since we all have today off, we thought it’d be perfect, you in?” She asked, tucking a lock of hair behind the brunette’s ear. “You could bring that extremely happy friend of yours Chaeyoung.” She said. “I know she’s in town.”

"Sure." Jennie responded her eyes already closing to fall back to sleep. "Sounds nice."

Lisa smiled, and pressed her lips against the brunette’s. “I’ll back asap, babe”

There was a strange fluttering in Jennie's stomach as she heard those words, there was also a very strange feeling when thinking about how domestic this all seemed, she could feel the anxiety manifesting at the recognition that maybe just maybe she was falling fast and hard for the thai girl, and it was honestly making her feel lightheaded.

Right now thought she decides to go to sleep and deal with her confusing feelings later, maybe while nursing a beer or two, maybe she needed to talk to Rosie about it, but right now, sleep.

--------------------------------------

“Jennie spent the night.” She told Bambam.

Bambam was her go to guy for everything, after Jisoo, he was the other person she could tell everything too, and he was also the official helper of the store, it was not uncommon for the both of them to have deep conversations while carrying boxes full of books to the storage area of the store

.“Whoa, big step for you how you feeling?” He asked while carefully setting down a box, he knew how his best friend was about her books, he rather not be on her bad side about that.

“I’m happy, Jennie…she’s amazing perhaps a bit guarded but she has a big heart and so far things are going great, which also makes scares me a little, you know how my last relationship went.” Lisa said, carefully opening a box to inspect the insides of the shipment.

“You were engaged after all, is not an easy thing to come back from.” Bambam told her, he still remembers that time, it wasn’t a very happy time for Lisa but him and Jisoo were there and will always be there.

“Yeah.” Lisa sighed  “Jungkook was great… until he wasn’t.” She continued to inspect book by book to make sure none of them were damaged.

“For what it’s worth, I think it’s great you are opening yourself up to that, this is the happiest I’ve seen you in a while.”

“But?” Lisa asked, pausing her inspection.

“But nothing, that’s it, just be happy.” He said, giving Lisa a side hug. “Now you need to drop me at the supermarket and get your girl her breakfast.”

-----------------------------------

The pair spend the morning watching old Friends reruns while having breakfast, after they were done, Lisa drove Jennie back to her house so she could get ready for the barbecue later that day.

Jennie made good of that time and made sure to invite Chae to her house, she needed someone to talk to about her feelings.

“I’m freaking out” She said as soon as Chae got inside her house.

Chae blinked a couple of times. “Okay. Why?”

“Lisa. She’s amazing. She’s beautiful. She’s thoughtful. She’s a good listener. She’s great in bed. She’s perfect.” Jennie said honestly and a little bit frustrated.

Chae blinked again. “I don’t see what the problem is, Jen.”

“She’s perfect. Too perfect. Maybe she’s hiding something, Oh ! do I need to leave? pretend it never happened?” Jennie’s breath picking up as she let herself spiral down with the weight of her feelings and fears.

“Ok. Whoa! First of all, breathe.” Pausing to make sure the brunette had listened to her, she continued “Second of all, you are going nowhere, this is the first time you’ve been happy since the whole Kai fiasco, I get why you are freaking out, and trust me if I could kill that a thousand times I would, but he’s gone, and you are here, you are here in this town, setting up your label and seeing a girl that honestly seems to have come out of a Nicholas Sparks movie”

“You’re right.” Jennie said taking a deep breath “She’s not Kai.” She repeated, if only the deepest part of her brain would listen.

-----------------------------

After she finished running some numbers from the shop, Lisa went up stairs to her room to get ready, she opted for ripped skinny jeans and a sleeveless shirt with a red backwards snapback, by the time she was done Bambam was already getting the pit ready in her backyard.

“Looking good Bam.” She said , before going to the door after hearing the bell rang.

"I brought beer." Jennie said with a smile when Lisa opened the door and pulled her in for a kiss.

"And Chaeyoung is here too. Hope my humble abode is up to your standards.” She said, smiling when she felt Jennie nudge her side.

"As long as there is food I’m happy." The blonde girl said honestly.

She led them outside to the backyard, it was a small yard, as soon as they walked passed the glass door from the living room there was a wooden deck with a couple of chairs on it, the rest of the yard was grass with beautiful planters surrounding it, there was a fire pit in the middle of it with some wooden patio chairs around it.

An hour later Jisoo had arrived and Lisa made all the necessary introductions, they were now sitting around the fire pit watching Chae and Lisa talk about the thai girl’s favorite subject. Books.

“Faulkner. You like Faulkner? No, you’d be better off reading Hemingway.”

Chae looked up suddenly from her drink “Hemingway was a .” She deadpanned. She could see Lisa’s eyes watching her curiously, wondering why the hell she liked Faulkner.

Lisa shrugged. “A who knew what he was doing. He knew story and thematics and could use a ing comma.” Before anyone could say a word, the thai girl got up to they living room and she came back with a book in her hand, she handed the book to Chae and pressed it into her hands. “Trust me on this. I know you’ll feel it to.”

“Fine.” The brunette said “But if it turns out to be ty, you are reading Faulkner.”

“Deal” The thai girl agreed.

At this point Jisoo and Bambam were already aware of how passionate the thai girl could get about books, so the both of them just turned to one and other to have their own conversation. Meanwhile Jennie was lost in Lisa, she could see the fire reflected on her eyes, both the one on the pit, and the one that came whenever she talked about books. She could also see how the glow of the fire illuminated her face just perfectly, she was beautiful.

Before long it was getting late and everyone left Lisa’s house, with Chae gone to the bathroom so Jennie could drive her to the hotel, the brunette decided to have a quick talk with Lisa.

“So... I kind of wanted to talk about our situation.” Jennie said nervously pulling Lisa by the hand and sat on the couch.

“Right.” Lisa said. She could see the brunette was nervous, so she did all the physically could to appear calm to ease the brunette’s nerves.

“I really like you.” The brunette said honestly. When she looked up, she found brown eyes looking at her.

“I really like you too.” Lisa said back, a soft smile on her face.

“Okay. So I  want to pursue this like thing like a serious thing you know?” The brunette said. Why the hell were words so hard right now? And why had Chae not come down yet?

“You want us to date exclusively?” Lisa offered. She couldn't help the smile growing on her face now.

“Yes. Exactly. Yes.”

“I'd like that.” Lisa said, leaning in to give her a kiss.

“You.. you would? really?” The brunette asked quietly.

“Of course Jen, how could I not?” The thai girl asked “There is nothing, I’d like more than being you girlfriend” She said, her hand on the brunette’s cheek pulling in her in for another kiss.

“Makes two of us.” The brunette whispered after they separated.
