love is...

Love should be easy despite its hardships.

"It's like breathing"

Her Mom always said that loving is as easy as breathing. You love easily like how you take in a breath of air, and for 6 year old, it should be a thing that would amaze a kid, but Jisoo tilted her head and scrunched her nose at her mother.

"How about the people who can't breathe easily?" Jisoo asked skeptically

It surprised her mother, the older Kim gave out a soft chuckle as she ruffled her daughter's hair and kissed the top of her head.

"Their other half breathes for them" Her mother replied with a small smile on her face

Jisoo didn't understand.

"It's like finishing the puzzle"

Her Dad always told her that loving someone is like being able to finish a thousand piece puzzle. It's like everything makes sense once every single piece of the puzzle is in its right place. For a 10 year old who's really into puzzles and Legos, it seemed like a nice kind of moral to the story, it still seemed silly to her though.

"And what if the puzzle gets destroyed? It's not bound to be in one piece forever" Jisoo asked

Her father gave her a hearty chuckle as he eyed his daughter with much love and pride.

"Your words have depth" He uttered, Jisoo looked at him curiously, restraining herself from asking what 'depth' meant

"I have no answer to your question" He said

Jisoo should've been proud to be able to render her father speechless, or answer-less, but she wasn't.

"It's like playing soccer"

Her brother always told her that soccer is his everything, and that nothing can make him hate the game. For your typical angsty 13 year old, it sounded like some jock thing to say which basically is just a cliche.

"What if you lose a game?" Jisoo challenged her brother

Her brother had the audacity to laugh at her as he wrapped his arms around his sister's neck, pulling her into a brotherly hug as he ruffled her hair like how their mother would do.

"It's not about winning or losing the game. It's about the passion and heart you put into each game" He said with a grin "That's how loving someone should be" he added

Jisoo shrugged her brother off and shooed him away back to the soccer field.

---

"It's like Jenga"

Her sister muttered as she successfully eased out another piece of wood and placed it up on top. Now, for a 15 year old, that answer for sure doesn't make any sense.

"Are you kidding me? What if it all comes falling down?" Jisoo smirked as she leaned back and crossed her arms as she eyed her serious older sister

"You build it up again" She said "Loving someone is like playing Jenga. You need to be careful, have determination and handle everything with care. But if it collapses, you just have to build it up again, no matter how much it frustrates you"

Jisoo was impressed, even letting out a small smile at her sister's answer. It was Joohyun's turn to smirk at her younger sister.

"It's like music"

Lisa and Jennie had the most cliche answer that 19 year old Jisoo had to gag at that, only making her friends smack her head.

"It is!" Jennie insisted as she leaned against her girlfriend, Lisa, the latter automatically wrapping an arm around the smaller girl and planting a soft kiss by the side of her head

"You guys are just sappy music majors" Jisoo snorted at the two

Lisa laughed at their older friend and snuggled more against Jennie.

"What if you're deaf?" Jisoo asked

Lisa and Jennie looked at each other, although Jisoo would love to snap them out of their world, she held back, observing the way the two would look at each other, silently conversing. They were in Senior high school when Jisoo knew Lisa and Jennie are each other's.

"You feel" Jennie said, her eyes never leaving Lisa's

"Feel?" Jisoo asked

"A deaf person may not be able to hear, but they can feel" Jennie explained

"Loving someone is like listening to music. It's like a necessity, you listen to music because it's the way of life. It would be insane not to. It's as easy as breathing. That's how you love. And if God chose to take away your hearing, it doesn't matter, because the feeling will always be stronger. In music, you can feel the vibrations. It's better than hearing" Jennie further explained

Lisa smiled this soft smile that always makes Jennie smile back in return. And Jisoo doesn't bother to ask furthermore, she just smiled looking at the two lovesick puppies, still wondering to herself how on earth did they find it so easy.

"It's easy as loving you"

24 year old Jisoo was stunned as she heard those words, every syllable echoing and bouncing off the walls of her brain.

Roseanne smiled shyly as she tucked a strand of Jisoo's hair behind her ear. She then returned her hand to the strings of her guitar, strumming a tune and humming, her eyes locked intently to Jisoo's brown orbs.

"Making music is as easy as loving you, Jisoo" Roseanne repeated her fingers still strumming the guitar

"It's something I've always known to do" Roseanne added

"What if there's no such thing as music?" Jisoo asked, Roseanne giggled at the question

"If it was personified, then music is you. If no such thing existed, then you've created your own kind of harmony, and that would be the only I would learn to know. You and all your flats and sharps, you are a perfect melody." Roseanne said

Jisoo leaned towards the girl and softly kissed her lips.

"2 years and you're still cheesy" Jisoo said in between kisses

"Still regretting Lisa introducing us?" Roseanne asked

"Let's not mention the newlyweds, all I can think of is them doing it in every single corner of their new house" Jisoo joked, making Roseanne laugh out loud, ceasing her strumming

"If somebody asked me what's it like loving someone, I'd simply tell them that loving someone is easy, it's the finding them part that's kinda hard" Jisoo said

Roseanne kissed the tip of Jisoo's nose.

"But once you do. Everything is as easy as the sun rising during the day, and the moon rising at night" Jisoo smiled widely

So maybe loving someone has different meanings to everyone. But no matter how they see it, it still comes down to one synonymous definition, and whatever that may be to you, believe in it.

With a small gasp, Jisoo pulls down Roseanne to meet her halfway in a passionate kiss. Like how the waves kiss the shore, or when the sun meets the sea.
