heavy as rock

back from the dead

Kim Namjoon

It was a scary trip. Not because there was anything to spook them but instead because of the destination they were driving to. Once that place was their safe port. The cabin in the woods where they all met her.

FLASHBACK

Namjoon found the cabin in one of his strolls in the woods with is boy's scouts group consisting of Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung and, the new addition, Jeon Jungkook. The boys used to explore the woods trying to apply what they learn at the scouts institute. They would study the many paths, the fauna and flora and the directions. Once a month they would go camping and get acquainted better.

They were all so different from one another that they believed if it wasn't because of the boy's scout association, they would never hang out together. Namjoon was a complete nerd, always so focused on his studies, being known as one of the brighters students of all country. Seokjin was a carefree guy, always with silly jokes and over dramatic actions, being sometimes kind of annoying for some of the members of the group.

Yoongi was the grumpy grandpa of them, he would often throw a fit about their demonstrations of affection and say very constantly that he hated them but they all knew it was all an act and he secretly cared about all of them. Hoseok was the opposite, always the brighter one, the one who lifted their spirits everytime, the moodmaker who would make silly things to make them laugh. For surprise of everybody, he and Yoongi became really close friends, even if the older would irritated most of the times.

Then there were the inseperatable Jimin and Taehyung. They knew each other from childhood, both their parents being best friends, they were together since the womb and would sometimes call each other soulmates. Jimin was the shy and perfectionist one. He would always push himself harder then the most, always putting himself down if he failed one insignificant thing. Taehyung was the one capable of comfort him and cheer him up. He had a weird but really cute and cheerful personality. At first people would think of him as fake and freaky because he acted always so innocent, too innocent to be real but he was. He had the purest heart of them all.

An then there was Jungkook. He was a confused and lost kid, always looking to his hyungs with wide eyes, trying to learn as much as he could from them, looking up to them and admiring each and everyone of them. He learned from Namjoon to be hardworking, from Seokjin to be carefree, from Yoongi to be strong, from Hoseok to be hopeful, from Jimin to be dedicated and from Taehyung to be pure.

The seven of them hiked through the woods in a new unexplored path. The youngers would mark the path: Jungkook piercing the trees with a pickaxe, leaving a small but noticeble hole, Jimin marking with a red pen the map they always carryed and Taehyung taking notes of the coordenates with the compass.

Namjoon leaded the way, carrying a binocle and looking for the best spot for them to lay they're things and rest. Seokjin took care of taking notes of the flora, specially the plants and fruits, so later he would identify them. Yoongi would take pictures of everything for them to catalog on their journal and Hoseok would make them all cheerful, sing silly songs that they all sang along - well, not Yoongi though - or telling stories that most of the time made no sense nor had no purpose, making some of them really mad.

"I see something!" Namjoon anounced. "Thank gosh you can see something, it means you're not blind." Yoongi scoffed. "Did you find a place for us to camp?" Seokjin asked, ignorind the other's grumpy attempt of being sarcastic. "Better. I found us a house." All of the boys turned their heads to where the leader of the group was looking at with his binocles. "Do you think is habitated?" Jimin asked with hope. "It doesn't seem. At least there's no one inside now" the leader instructed.

"We should go check it out." Hoseok said excitedly, walking past his peers but a younger held his sleeve, pulling him back. "No hyung. It could be haunted. Or worst, with lots of spiders and rats and other disgusting animals." Said fearfull and the other widened his eyes, retreating. "How animals are worst than ghosts?" Jungkook asked confused. "We should take a look. At least just from outside, just to see if it's safe to enter or not." Taehyung sugested and the otheres agreeded, some less willingly then others.

Namjoon lead the way and all of the other six continued doing their chores neatly. When they finally arrived at the cabin they divided themselves in three groups, scouting the surroundings of the house, all meeting again in front of the only door to the inside.

"It's empty." Jungkook said, arriving with Jimin, who was clinging to Taehyung. "Didn't saw ghosts." Hoseok warned more relaxed as he arrived with Yoongi. "It seems abandoned for quite some time." Seokjin added, looking to Namjoon. "Should we enter?" Yoongi asked to the leader and he took some time to think, looking at the cabin and imagine what they could do inside. They could turn that into their spot. From the map in the youngers hand he could see that there was a small waterfall not too far from that house. That would be an amazing place to make great memories.

When they entered the house they saw that it was all covered with dust and spider webs but it was equiped with lots of furniture, all empty. The house had a only a small living and dining room combined into one room and a kitchen right at the side. It had only one bathroom too but one big bedroom. Later they found another room but it was too tiny for anyone of them to sleep and had no windows.

The bigger bedroom had two bunkbeds and a queen sized bed. The seven of them looked to each other and with a grin they sprinted inside the room, trying to call dibs on the beds. Yoongi and Namjoon got the top beds, while Seokjin and Hoseok got the bottom ones. The maknaes pouted as their only choice was the couple's bed.

Jungkook ended up choosing to sleep at the tiny room but soon he realized that the place stinked hard and the matress was rotten, as the wooden bed was dissolving. He then saw an infiltration at the ceiling and realize that was unconceivable to sleep there. With no other choice he went back to the main bedroom, having to share a bed with two other guys.

The seven boys spent all day cleaning the best they could without little to nothing of means. As the waterfall was near they could take the matresses to the small pond and wash them. Because it was already afternoon they had to leave them to dry overnight and maybe the next night they would be all clean. For their luck, the house had running water, maybe from a wellspring nearby but they didn't had eletricity. Not that it mattered anyways, they were used to camping and have only the natural light of the day and then the warm light of the fire. And as they were prepared to camp, they mounted their tents outside.

For the next months they brought things to turn the cabin a little bit more homely. Hoseok brought sheets for the beds, Namjoon brought blanckets, Yoongi brought pillows, Seokjin brought kitchenware, Jungkook brought cleaning products for the house, the clothes and themselves, Jimin brought solar lamps and Taehyung brought bath towells. With time the abandoned house turned into a livable house, even if only for one weekend a month.

The seven of them were having the best times of their lives in that cabin until one day they arrived to see a girl sleeping in their room.

a/n: Hellooo! How are you?

As you can see I putted some elements from Snow White's story in this chapter and the next is going to be the same.

Hope you've been liking the story so far.

It's my first all english story ever. I have another one from BTS, a short story of one chapter only, but it's a translation of an oneshot I wrote.

Go check it if you want. It's called Genies and it's inspired by the Blood Sweat and Tears MV.
