When I'm With You
The three of them were seated at the table nearest the buffet table. Excitedly, Sooyoung chose the nearest spot to the foods, wherein they could have a lot of options.
The GM woman waited for her two friends, until her eyes sparked when she saw how refreshingly odd it was to see Joohyun and Seulgi interact. It’s rare to see her lady boss-friend to be so carefree and engaging with someone.
Bae Joohyun was not an engaging type of person.
She’s plain direct and very business-like. So seeing her in a different light, entertained Sooyoung.
When the two reached the table, the latter sent a knowing smirk to her friend who immediately grew flustered by the second. Seulgi looked clueless beside the raven.
“What took you two so long?”
The shorter girl was the first one to react. Glaring and fuming, she jabbed her thumb to the monolid woman on her side.
“It’s her fault.”
Seulgi whipped her head with a confused look plastered on her face. “Eh? How is this my fault?” She blinked as she pointed her index finger toward her face.
“B-because!”
“What, baby?”
Joohyun did unthinkingly; she pinched Seulgi’s side playfully that had Sooyoung’s eyebrow rose up. The taller girl yelped but she was chuckling as she moved forward to sit across Seungwan’s girlfriend.
“She likes it when I call her baby.” Seulgi nodded nonchalantly. Sooyoung stifled her laughter and couldn’t help but to nod along with her.
“I think she does.”
“I can hear you two.” Joohyun’s eyes twitched at how the two converse about her as if she did not exist. Annoyed, she pulled the chair next to Seulgi.
“So you’re not denying the ‘baby part’?” Sooyoung asked as she put up an invisible quote in the air using her slender fingers. “Why don’t you date this woman, Seul?”
“The question is…am I willing to date this socially impaired woman?”
Joohyun gaped at her profusely. “Excuse me?!” She squeaked rather uncharacteristically. “How bold of you, Kang!” She hissed.
“Oh, hush baby. You’re social skills are the worst.” She pointed out.
“Finally, there’s someone out here who’s the same page as me.” Sooyoung nodded as she grabbed a glass of water. She gulped down the liquid in one go before standing from her seat. “I’m hungry. Continue your flirting session after we eat.”
Betrayed, Joohyun gaped at her friend.
“Their ing ganging up on me.”
The Bae heiress, with her forehead creasing, picked the green peas on her fried rice and set it aside. Not that she’s too picky with her food, there’s just such chow she couldn’t eat on her meal.
But she loved fried rice, though.
Seulgi paused when she noticed what the other girl was doing. Her eyebrow instantly arched up in interest. She chuckled inwardly.
However, the faint chortle couldn’t escape Joohyun’s sharp ears. She looked up from her food only to see the monolid girl’s smile decorating her pretty innocent face.
Her heart thumped inside her that formed a light blush on her cheeks. She had never seen a beautiful smile that could brighten up the place in her stunning simple ways. When Seulgi felt someone’s gaze on her she lifted her head only to see the girl beside her evidently looked away.
With her playful side she nudged the shorter girl’s shoes under the table with a knowing smirk. “What?” Joohyun mouthed.
Seulgi shook her head while she gestured for her to continue with her meal. Sooyoung halted after she saw their silent interaction. She grinned secretly.
Joohyun loved the silence but she couldn’t help but to be nosy, since she had no idea what the girl does for a living. She met her at a freaking club when she’s on the quest looking for her sister. Plus, it was always her clad in casual yet very stylish look when they run into each other and right now she was unusually wearing a semi-formal dress.
She looked so good in it. But there’s no way in hell that she would admit that.
“What’s with your strange get up? What do you do for work?” Joohyun suddenly spoke up that had the two visibly tensed from their seats.
Seulgi and Sooyoung shared knowing looks. The girl clad in her dark turtle neck dress bit her lip and looked away.
Silence answered Joohyun’s query so she looked up in a questioning gaze at her side. “I-I’m working for Seungwan. Don’t you r-remember? At the café?” Seulgi was able to utter but she tripped on some of her words.
With an awkward laugh, Sooyoung set her utensils down. “Your memory shows how old you are, Joo.” She teased; diverting the attention to her that had Seulgi exhaled a sigh of relief.
“Oh, right. I forgot about that. That doesn’t explain your…prim and proper…-ish look.” Joohyun murmured while she poked on broccoli on her plate.
“Why? Falling for me already?” Seulgi dropped her flirty punch line. Joohyun shuddered as she closed her eyes briefly as she counted from one to ten. There she goes again, with her irritating remarks.
