Chapter 4
Take Me Home
I had decided not to wear a dress today, but instead black high waisted shorts and a white tee shirt that was tucked in. I was happy with my choice of attire as I realized that Minyoung would be dragging me around all day. The girl was full of energy as she dragged me around the city making me watch her try on different outfits and makeup, but like I used to and still do, I enjoyed our time together.
So as she linked our arms, we walked along the side of the Han River. Minyoung was without doubt a natural beauty and it showed. Not only was she beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. Right now she was working on getting her Masters in Education. She wanted to be a math teacher to elementary students and she did become one. So as I watched her talk, I couldn't help but be happy that my best friend had achieved her dream; even if she didn't know it yet.
"Hey." I heard her call as I looked at my friend. Her bright smile aimed toward me, "Yeah?" I answered as she stopped walking and looked at me, "Were you listening to anything I was even saying?" She asked as I shrugged, "I get it, you’re so in love with Luhan." I replied as she pouted and rolled her eyes, "Eunji." She said in desperation as she unlinked her arms and placed her hands on hips.
"It's more than love. He's the one." She said in a 'as-a-matter-of-fact' tone. However, I knew better. Luhan would inevitably break her heart just like how his playboy transfer student reputation would allow him to. "Okay, okay!" I replied defeated as I throw up my hands and said sarcastically, "Minyoung and Luhan will have many many children in which you will teach math to and he will show them how to play soccer!" I continued. I watched as she beamed the warmth of the sun back at me as I could only force back a soft smile.
I couldn't let her know. Part of her marrying her future husband and falling in love all started with that Luhan. So as I tried to seem as happy as possible, I half joked with her, "Why do you like athletes? What about the smart quiet types? Like Do Kyungsoo?" I asked as she let out a small laugh. "Kyungsoo seems like a nice guy and all, but he doesn't strike me as the exciting type." She said before continuing, "Not everyone likes workaholic bookworms like Sehun, Eunji." She joked back as I could only scuff at her words.
Do Kyungsoo was going to be the most exciting thing to ever happen to her and here she was calling him boring. "Just because they don't party and have a million friends doesn't mean they're boring and uninteresting." I argued back as she shook her head, "Yeah, sure. But when Luhan and I are going on an amazing adventure, you and Sehun can be at home watching the news together and arguing about which detergent is better for the clothes." I looked at the girl with a sarcastically appreciative face, "Thanks."
The girl laughed as she relinked our arms. I knew that Luhan broke her heart into a million pieces and Kyungsoo mended it with every minute detail. She might have thought he was boring, but he was a perfectionist that only let his guard down around the girl who couldn't help but to be the most clumsy being on this planet. I remember Kyungsoo used to shower her in the baked goods he would make to brighten her day. He used to sit with her in silence as she vented her hurt and emotions when I couldn't be there. Minyoung used to rave about the penguin like boy with a deep voice that she thought about when she fell asleep. She used to tell me how he would stay on the phone with her and tell her princess stories when she couldn't fall asleep.
I remember Kyungsoo replacing me as her most favorite person in the world as she encouraged his dreams of dropping out of his masters program and entering culinary school. Together the two would build an amazing future together for their two daughters, however, for right now, Kyungsoo was still that boring kid that knew nothing about the warm hearted Minyoung.
"Eunji."
Minyoung called as I looked at her with the orange sky as her background. "Yeah?" I called as she smiled and began to give me that whole talk about how I was lucky to have Sehun and how she wanted to go to the cafe. So as I walked along with her, I began to ponder; Minyoung and Kyungsoo had such a beautiful love story, so why wasn't I as fortunate?
I had tried my best to continue dating but all efforts seemed useless. So here I was by some of luck getting a chance to fix my mistakes, but I had no idea how to do it. Whatever god or all mighty being was helping me, I wish they told me how to fix everything too. So as we entered the cafe, my eyes had already flown over to Sehun who was talking to the pretty young girl as Minyoung was oblivious. Sighing, this time I tried my best to ignore it as we sat down.
"Let's get the strawberry one with extra condensed milk!" Minyoung said to me as she looked at the menu. I tried my hardest, but as I looked up, I could see the girl tugging on his pouch. "Please?" She begged as Sehun smiled down at her with that warm gaze. He let me know before it was an act
