아, 그 목소리, 그 아름다운 목소리를 듣고 싶었다. 경수와 같이 집에 가는 길이었다. 그런데 경수가 아무 말도 없이 조용하게 걷고 있었다. 대화를 나누고 싶었는데 무슨 말을 해야 대화를 시작할 수 있는지 몰랐다. 그렇게 듣기 좋은 목소리를 가지면 왜 더 많이 사용하지 않는지 정말 궁금했다. 그래도 옆에 있는 것이 편했다. 분위기가 좋았다. 내가 기뻐서 가슴이 울렁거렸다. 나는 경수를 훔쳐보았다. 그런데 하필 그 순간 경수도 날 보았다. 아주 잠시 동안 눈이 맞추었다. 내 뱜이 갑자기 더워졌다. 둘 다 어색하게 미소를 지었고 계속 걸어갔다.

집에 도착했다. 문 앞에 서 있는데 경수가 내가 들어가는 것을 보고 가려고 하는 것 같았다. 나는 열쇠를 가방에 빼 놓았는데 왠지 모르게 당장 문을 열고 싶지 않아서 그냥 열쇠를 만지작거렸다.

“들어올래요?“ 내가 아래 입술을 물고 물어보았다. 경수랑 헤어지고 싶지가 않으니까...

경수의 눈이 두 배가 되었다. 나도 놀랐다.

한동안 우리가 서로 보고만 있었다.

경수가 망설이면서 끄떡이었다. 내 심장이 뛰었다. 떨려서 문을 거의 열릴 수가 없었다.

“어... 뭐 마실래요?“ 집 들어가서 물어보았다. 사실은 내가 지금 도대체 뭐 하고 있는지 잘 몰랐다. 정신이 없었다. 경수가 머리를 흔들었다.

“음.. 그럼.. 어... 내 방이 위에 있어요...” 말하고 계단 올라가기 시작했다. 숨 쉴 수 없었다. 공기가 짜릿했다. 심장이 터질 것 같았다.

“좋아해요” 문을 닫자마자 경수가 낮은 목소리로 말했다.

설렜다.

한동안 마주보고 서 있었다.

나도 경수도 상대방의 반응을 기다리고 있는 것 같았다.

경수가 한 발짝 한 발짝 가까워지고 있었다. 바로 내 앞에 발끝으로 서며 나한테 키스했다. 그의 입술이 정말 부드러웠다. 온몸이 따뜻해졌다.

키스한 다음에 둘 다 너무 부끄러워서 어떻게 해야 하는지 잘 몰랐다.

“눈이 그렇게 나쁘면 왜 콘택트렌즈를 쓰지 않아요?” 내가 그의 매혹적인 눈을 보면서 궁금해졌다.

“너무 불편해.” 경수가 얼굴을 찌푸렸다.

“어..그럼 안경을 끼면 되지 않아요?”

“안경이 내 얼굴에 어울리지 않아...그 모습을 종인한테 보여 주기 싫거든...” 경수가 부끄럽게 말했다. 너무 귀여웠다.

“아, 근데 존댓말이 어디 갔네요? 왜 갑자기 반말 쓰는 거에요?” 물어보았다.

“아니.. 키스 나눈 사이에... 존댓말 쓰는 게 좀...” 깔깔대면서 말했다. 그의 웃음 소리가 엄청 예뻤다. 완전 설렜다.

“나도 말 놓을까, 그럼?” 나도 웃었다.

우리가 좀 더 가까워졌다는 느낌이 들었다.

Ah, that voice, I wanted to hear that beautiful voice. Me and Kyungsoo were heading home together. But Kyungsoo was walking quietly without saying a word. I wanted to talk to him, but I had no idea what to say to start a conversation. I was curious why someone with such a nice sounding voice didn't use it more often. Even so, it was nice to be beside him. I liked the atmosphere. I was so happy, my heart was skipping. I glanced at Kyungsoo furtively. But right that moment, of all moments, Kyungsoo looked at me. Our eyes met for a brief while. My cheeks suddenly turned warm. We exchanged awkward smiles and kept walking.

We had arrived at my house. We were standing in front of the door but it looked like Kyungsoo was waiting to watch me go inside before leaving. I took out my keys from my backpack but for some reason I didn't want to open the door just yet, so I just fiddled with the keys a bit.

“You want to come in?” I asked while biting my lower lip. I didn't want to part with Kyungsoo.

Kyungsoo's eyes grew twice their size. I was surprised too.

For a while we just looked at each other.

Kyungsoo nodded hesitantly. My heart raced. I was so nervous I almost couldn't open the door.

“Uhm... you want something to drink?” I asked when we got inside. Truthfully, I had no idea what the heck I was doing. I was completely out of my mind. Kyungsoo shook his head.

“Ehm... so... uhh... my room is upstairs...” I said and started going up the stairs. I couldn't breathe. The air was electrified. My heart seemed like it was about to burst.

“I like you.” Kyungsoo said in a low voice as soon as the door closed.

I got butterflies.

For a while we just stood there looking at each other.

We both seemed like we were waiting for each other's reaction.

Kyungsoo started getting closer step by step. Then he stood on his toes right in front of me and kissed me. His lips were so soft. My whole body got warmer.

After the kiss, we were so embarrassed we didn't know how to react.

“If your eyesight is that bad, why don't you just use contact lenses?” I got curious as I watched his mesmerizing eyes.

“It's too uncomfortable.” Kyungsoo frowned.

“Ah.. but why don't you use glasses then?”.

“Glasses don't suit my face... I don't want to show you that side of me..” Kyungsoo said embarrassed. He was too cute.

“Wait, what happened to speaking formally? Why are you suddenly speaking informally to me?”* I asked.

“Well.. since we've shared a kiss... speaking formally seems a bit...” Kyungsoo chuckled. The sound of his laughter was so pretty. I got butterflies.

“Should I speak informally too then?” I laughed.

It felt like we had grown a little bit closer.

*Korean has separate formal and informal sentence endings. In the Korean version they spoke with formal endings until Kyungsoo started speaking with informal endings after they kissed kkk >.<
