Byul was waiting outside her father’s office. She doesn’t really wait for anyone when someone schedules a meeting with her but she knows how her father is busy. He may have passed the position of CEO to her but he still holds a lot of influence in the company. He is, after all, the chairman of the board of directors. At most, she would probably only have five minutes with him. Byul doesn’t mind it at all. Meeting with the chairman only means trouble and Byul has no idea what she did wrong to be called over for a meeting with Moon Daebak.

“Miss Byulyi?” Her father’s secretary called for her attention. “Mr. Moon is ready for you.”

“Right. Thank you, Mrs. Cartell.” Byul smiles at the middle aged woman. She stands up and pats down the wrinkles on her suit. If she had a necktie on, she would definitely tighten it but for today, she was wearing a tight blouse instead of a dress shirt. She had to look nice for her father. Byul would rather have him go straight to the point rather than waste time lecturing her about how she should dress. He may be the chairman and she, the CEO, but he is still her father. He would fuss over how she looks and how she eats too little.

Byul walks towards the door and knocks. She doesn’t wait for an answer from her father and pushes the door open. She walks towards the desk at the end of the huge office and stands in front of it. “You called for me, Mr. Chairman?” Byul calls her father professionally. She doesn’t know if she was summoned as the CEO or as her daughter and it’s better to be safe.

Moon Daebak opens his mouth but closes it again, hesitating. He doesn’t doubt his decisions, not until Byul came into his life and destroyed his established beliefs and conservative principles. He gives in to Byulyi when she makes sense, has a point, and offers the best decisions. However, for this one thing, he cannot seem to do the same. He knows Byul knows it too so he hesitates to voice out what concerns him. “Byul, you’ve been very public with your relationship with Ms. Kim. I have good reason to believe it’s serious. What do you think?”

Byul inhales deeply. She hasn’t introduced Yongsun to her father and she didn’t think she would have to until an opportunity arises but it never did. Now, her father knew before she could even break him the news. “Yes, father. It is serious. Someday, I see myself getting married to her.”

“That’s not something you should say lightly.” He looks at Byul and sees the disappointment on her face. He feels the same way about himself but he has to make tough decisions that affect hundreds of lives every day and this day is no different. “I would do anything for you, Byul-ah, but the board has come to a decision that even I can’t do anything about.”

“They don’t want me associating with Yongsun-unnie this much.” Byul says it as a fact rather than as a question. She’s almost entirely sure that it was the case. The bowed head of her father is all the confirmation she needs.

“They deemed it ‘unacceptable.’ The majority of the board thinks you should associate yourself with Minhyuk or Krystal or even Sunmi. Those kids have expressed their interest in you, have they not? The board does not care which of them you choose – just not Yongsun. We can appoint another CEO if you continue.” Mr. Moon hears nothing from Byulyi. He knows his daughter is currently working the gears in her head. She has never disobeyed him before and he believes she wouldn’t now. It will be difficult for Byul but she will do it all the same. “I’m sorry, love. They think it’s not what is best for the company or for you-“

“I don’t care what they think,” Byul cuts off her astonished father. “I know what’s best for me and the company. I work with the people in our company. I see the process and the results for myself. All they see are the sheets that state the profits. You know the difference, father, don’t you? And they have no business with my personal life.” Byul is not reasoning to be able to stay in her position. She does not care for that but she does care for the employees under her. However, if the board has made a decision she is unable to obey,
