[BREAKING] produce 99 CancElled after voter fraud
After Maeil Business reported that 'Produce X 101' has had their votes manipulated last week, not only on last week's mid-season ranking but as early as in the second week, Mnet finally came forth with a statement.
"Hello, this is Mnet.
Following discussions with the companies involved, we have decided to cancel Produce 99. We wish to sincerely apologize to viewers, fans, trainees, and agencies for causing concern because of our program.
We're currently cooperating in the investigation with a sincere attitude, and we'll pursue strict internal measures according to the results.
However, we sincerely ask that you consider the artists and trainees, who've done nothing wrong, so they do not suffer additional damage."
Notably, they didn't adress the rumours of bribery.

Hi guys! So it's been 2 years now and I'm really sorry that I was never able to finish this story! What happened was I was both too ambitious and too lax in my planning and I ended up stuck with serveral main characters where I just didn't really know where I was going with them and I felt like everything was starting to sound very samey and the motivation just kinda crashed and burned.
I am so so happy though with the time we did have and with everyone's engagement and voting! I had such a blast with the engagement aspect which makes me sad the most that it never came to a close, but know that you guys made me so incredibly happy in the time I did do Produce 99.
SO here's what canonically happened to Produce 99: After the position evaluations (which I am going to try to finish for you guys while the new fic is in the apply stage to give you some closure there and make sure everyone gets their character's performances) they ran the new votes and basically just what happened to the finale of X1 happens here in P99 and people catch onto it and competely destroys any credibility that Mnet has. The floodgates open, the bribery rumours come out in force as well, and everything comes crashing down, destroying Mnet's reputation in the meantime.
As for the future careers of the characters? I'd love to hear what you want for your characters! Could be that they debut, could be that they don't, anything is up in the open! Send me a message if you've got a strong idea and we'll see if we can hash something out <3 If you don't message me I'll make something up myself depending on what makes sense to me, which is also no biggie.

So the new fic! I've really missed writing the best parts of this: the team building and the ragtag bunch of girls thrown together and making it work (or not!) and that stuff and I wanted to do something with the pest parts of P99 without the rigid survival show structure that ended up throttling me a bit. So this will be an Mnet created girl group that skips the whole survival show and just throws a bunch of girls (8-9 members probably) into the deep while filming every part of it. There won't be any show aspects, it'll all be written like the chapters here not the episodes, but there will be audience engagements possibilities! Probably not in the form of reddit cause I feel like it might have been a bit too ambitious? Unless I misread and you guys really liked that part!
ANYWAY I hope you'll apply to that one! It's in the same universe as Produce 99 so you can use your Produce girls as relationships or even apply with them if you've got a good continuation of their story in mind (though I would prefer not the main characters unless you really really have a good idea to give her a fresh spin!) I'll be posting the future careers of all the main girls as soon as we've hashed them out together and then they can canonically be used and WILL cameo in the story! I'm so excited for that!
P99 - Where are they now posted! I tried to make it as clear as possible, the bottom TLDR is especially for anyone coming in for D4U who hasn't a clue what we're talking about xD But some chaos is inevitable when dealing with like 99 girls. Hope everyone is happy with their character's near futures!
