Chapter 6: Double Trouble Couple

Dandelion (Koi No Yokan Series - Book 1)

Just as Hwasa had suspected, the problem was not Woozi or Krystal, but Moonbyul and Solar. The older ladies were too excited about everything! While Solar kept dragging Woozi around to try cute headbands with him, Moonbyul kept insisting on riding roller coasters with Krystal.

“I’m not giving up. I did not waste my money for nothing. There has to be a way to just split them up,” Hwasa said out loud as Wheein raised an eyebrow at her.

“And your brilliant plan is?” Wheein asked as Hwasa smirked, much to Wheein’s concern over her friend’s sanity.

“Follow my lead,” Hwasa said as Wheein quickly went after her friend who walked up to Solar and Woozi. To no ones surprise, the pair had been hanging out in the small accessories shop within the park for the last half hour.

“Ooohhh! Woozi you look so cute!” Solar sang as she had placed a pair of bunny ears on Woozi’s head. The purple haired boy remained quiet as his cheeks kept getting a darker shade of red.

“Unnie,” Hwasa called as Solar turned to look at them.

“Hiya, guys! This place is so much fun!” The pink haired woman chirped.

“Yeah, cool. So, Wheein thought it would be a great idea if we split up in two groups,” Hwasa began saying as Wheein quickly caught on to her devilish plan.

“Yeah! Hwasa could get you and Moonbyul Unnie to the uh…that one thing…” Wheein traced off as her mind went blank on the names of the attractions around park. In her defense, she was part of the aquarium, not the whole park.

“Y-yeah! That one cool thing! The one you love, Unnie!” Hwasa covered up smoothly as Wheein nodded.

“That pretty one, Unnie! The one you like!” Wheein said, snapping her fingers in hopes of remembering the name of any attraction.

“Which one?” Solar asked, puzzled at the pair’s antics.

“The planetarium,” It was Woozi who spoke up, much to Wheein and Hwasa’s surprise.

“Ah, right! I did say I wanted to go there before,” Solar recalled, much to Hwasa and Wheein’s relief.

“Well, then you can go with Hwasa while I take Woozi and Krystal Unnie around the park and aquarium,” Wheein said as Solar raised an eyebrow at her.

“Why not go together?” Solar questioned as Wheein and Hwasa exchanged quick glances.

“Go together where?” Moonbyul – who had just arrived to the shop along with Krystal – asked as Hwasa began to panic.

“Uh...Well…Unnies…uh…Wheein!” Hwasa exclaimed as Wheein almost cursed at her. It’s your idea! You should be the one to go through with it! Wheein’s brain screamed as she tried to make up a good excuse by explaining the situation to Moonbyul, who simply nodded from time to time in understanding.

“Are you avoiding my question?” Solar suddenly asked as Hwasa and Wheein shook their heads in sync, “Then why not just go together?”.

“Yeah. I’m sure Krystal and Woozi don’t mind,” Moonbyul agreed as Krystal smiled at her.

“I don’t want to go though,” Woozi suddenly said, surprising Hwasa and Wheein once again. By now, they were just wondering what he was up to.

“Woozi,” Moonbyul called sternly as Woozi avoided her gaze.

“I’d rather go to the aquarium…” Woozi said as he glanced at Krystal, “I’m sure it’s really pretty there,” The boy persuaded as Moonbyul couldn’t help but frown.

Why is he doing this? I thought we already agreed that he would be by Solar as his Soulmate. Moonbyul couldn’t comprehend what was happening until she felt someone pat her shoulder.

“Good luck on the planetarium, Unnie,” Krystal said as Moonbyul noticed Hwasa with Wheein’s cap.

“W-wait! I didn’t-…OUCH!” Moonbyul tried to protest but was quickly cut off by a sudden pain in her foot. It didn’t take the black haired woman long to discover it had been none other than Woozi, who had quietly stepped on her foot before walking towards Solar.

“Good luck, Noona,” He said sweetly towards Solar who gave him a smile before he walked away with Wheein and Krystal.

“The little Shi-…” Moonbyul almost cursed, but halted in her words as she felt someone hold her hand.

“Hwasa said to hold hands so we don’t get lost,” Solar explained with a smile as Moonbyul noticed Solar was holding on to Hwasa’s fingers.

“Just follow my lead…Boss,” Those words and the sly smile on Hwasa’s lips had been enough for Moonbyul to realize the beagle-like Wheein and the lion-like Hwasa were up to no good.

“What are you up to?” Jin asked as he stopped sweeping the dirt off the dirty wooden floor of the music store to look at Jimin, who was fixing his beanie on the mirror on the wall.

“Hyung and I are going on a date to the Decalcomanie Park,” Jimin explained briefly with a bright smile. Jin couldn’t help but smile along, as he knew how little time the pair usually had together. Jimin was usually busy with university while Yoongi was busy working to debut as a rapper under a small company. The only time they seemed to spend together was when they were home.

“It’s so nice that you two take some time to spend it together,” Jin said with dreamy eyes as Jimin made a face at him.

“We always got time for each other,” Jimin protested as one could clearly see the reddish orange Yoongi written in cursive letters that went around his neck and pretty much like Yoongi, was a bit closer to his right shoulder.

“Whatever you say, Jiminnie,” Jin said as he went back to sweeping the mess his father and friends had done in only a few days.

“Jimin,” Yoongi called as he walked downstairs. The once bright expression on Jimin’s face suddenly faded as he saw Yoongi stand before him.

“You…you’re going to the studio?” Jimin asked, as he knew that whenever Yoongi wore a simple white hoodie and black jeans it usually meant he had to go to work. With his hands tightly holding Jimin’s, he nodded.

“…Okay,” It was all Jimin said as he let go of Yoongi’s hands.

“Jimin,” Yoongi called but the shorter boy simply shook his head.

“I-I got somewhere to be so…see you later, Hyung,” And with that Jimin left the store before Yoongi could even apologize…again.

“F**********k!” Yoongi groaned as he slammed his head against the door of the store. It wasn’t the first time he had done this to the younger boy. Time after time, he ended up breaking their promises. And time after time, he felt his whole world shatter at the forced smiles Jimin would give him.

“You know,” Yoongi sighed as he knew Jin wasn’t one to stay silent around this type of situations, “If I were you I would just cancel and go after him,” Jin began saying as Yoongi turned to look at him, “But since I’m not you, I’ll just keep sweeping around here. Don’t mind me, you do you, Yoongi”.

“You always say that!” Yoongi barked, “Always trying to get me to just skip my work! Well, I can’t. I got to stay on the top until I debut or else some rookie rapper might take my place just because he is younger”.

“And not once have you listened to me,” Jin protested as he pointed the top of his broom towards the blue haired guy, “That’s why you’re so grumpy. You never take a break”. With another loud groan, Yoongi took out his phone and stormed out the store.

“Hey, it’s me. So…I can’t make it right now,” Yoongi said, as a smirk appeared on his lips, “I’ve got somewhere to be So, how about I catch up with you later?”.

“Look at all these stars!” Solar chirped, smiling brightly at the starry sky above her, “It’s like your dandruffs, Hwasa!”.

“Whoa. You’re such a romantic,” Hwasa deadpanned as the three of them stood underneath the starry sky of the projection hall in the planetarium. It had always been Solar’s dream to see a starry sky, fake or real, at least once in her life; and to be so close to it now, it felt rather magical and surreal.

“This is so amazing!” Solar chirped as she turned to look at Moonbyul. The younger woman’s eyes were fixed on the sky, as she kept mumbling names with a soft smile playing on her lips.

“…Norma, Crux, Orion...” Solar smirked as she patted Moonbyul’s shoulder, causing her to flinch as she turned to look at Solar with wide eyes.

She must have been lost in thoughts. Cute. Solar thought with a soft smile.

“You scared me!” Moonbyul snapped as Solar shrugged.

“I wanted to know what you were looking at,” Solar said but quickly realized how odd that sounded, “S-since I’m bad at it!” She added as Moonbyul simply grinned before turning her gaze towards the sky.

“Cassiopeia,” Moonbyul said, pointing at the said constellation so Solar could see it as well.

“Ah! I see it!” Solar chirped before pointing at another part, “I can only find Aquarius”.

“Really? I thought you said couldn’t find anything,” Moonbyul teased as Solar stuck her tongue out at her.

“I can’t! Maybe I’m not as bad, but still!” Solar replied as she suddenly pointed at something, “Oh, there’s the twin one!” She added as Moonbyul followed her gaze.

“Gemini…” Moonbyul answered as she absentmindedly glanced at her wrist and then at Solar. Even in the darkness of the planetarium, Moonbyul could see her glowing. It wasn’t only because she was her soulmate, but Solar had always had a certain radiance that made people like her easily. She was friendly and motherly, but more than anything…she was dazzling, the brightest star Moonbyul had ever seen; and yet, Solar was a star she could never wish upon…much like a shooting star, Solar had always seemed like a passerby in her sky, leaving only a stardust with her name behind.

“Yongsun?” Moonbyul called as Solar turned to look at her, taken back by Moonbyul calling her by her real name, “Is…is Woozi your soulmate? Like your real Soulmate?” She asked as Solar’s eyes went wide in shock.

“Why? Did he tell you anything?” Solar quickly asked as Moonbyul raised an eyebrow at this. She looked nervous, all the glee from before gone and replaced with anxiousness.

“Not really. But before, you just asked me if he had said something that made me uncomfortable. Why?” Moonbyul asked as Solar looked away.

“I…I don’t think is my place to say, Byul,” She replied as Moonbyul frowned, a sudden feeling of vexation taking over her. From how he just appeared out of nowhere to the way he cried that night he told her he knew she was Solar’s soulmate… All the mystery surrounding Woozi seemed to have finally hit the jackpot with Moonbyul, as she couldn’t stay silent anymore. Even if Moonbyul wanted to stay away and just let them be since it would be the best for them, she couldn’t. It was like trying to cover the sun with a finger, her love, her jealousy, her thoughts, her mark and her heart…they all belonged to Solar.

“But say what?” Moonbyul asked as Solar looked up at her, an unreadable expression playing on her soft features, “Solar, please be honest with me. I just want to understand. Who is Woozi to you? If he is not your Soulmate, then what is he?”. At the sudden question, Solar’s expression turned serious and cold. It wasn’t for her to say that Woozi was a Soulful. The boy had been passed down like a baton on a relay since the day he first got a name, so Solar couldn’t help but feel like it was now her responsibility to keep him safe and if he had not told Moonbyul…then Solar wouldn’t either.

“He is my soulmate, with or without my name. So, stop doubting him when you know nothing, Moon Byulyi,” Solar hissed with an unwavering stare that made Moonbyul’s heart ache, almost as if someone had shoot her right then and there. The sudden vexation she felt vanished almost instantly, as she felt a desperate need to apologize. Even though she didn’t know what she had done wrong, Moonbyul didn’t care. All she wanted was Solar to smile again while looking at the starry sky.

“Solar, I didn’t mean-…” Before Moonbyul could explain or even say sorry, Solar swiftly cut her off.

“I think I want to go home so, I’m leaving,” She said before walking past an amused Hwasa, who had been quietly observing them from a corner of the room.

“Solar, wait,” Moonbyul called as she went after her friend and managed to hold on to her wrist. Solar’s hands were actually cold and slightly trembling from the cold.

Was she cold? She should have told me. Moonbyul thought as she stared at a teary eyed Solar who quickly detached Moonbyul’s hand from her wrist.

“We’ll…talk later. Not now,” Solar stated before turning around and walking away. The further she walked, the more Moonbyul’s mark ached, as well as her heart.

Don’t go. Go after her. Don’t go. Tell her to stay. Say you’re sorry! Moonbyul’s mind kept saying over and over, but she didn’t dare take a step.

A heavy silence fell in the once peaceful room as Hwasa walked up to her boss.

“Aren’t you going after her?” She asked with ease as the raven-haired shook her head.

“…I-It’s for the best,” Moonbyul replied as she gave Hwasa a halfhearted smile and a pat on her shoulder before walking out the planetarium. She couldn’t go after Solar…they were not Soulmates. Whatever relationship she had with Woozi…it wasn’t her problem.

Let her go, Moon Byulyi. Just…let go. Moonbyul thought before running away, far from that place…and far from Solar.

************

“Stupid, Byul! Asking me such a stupid question! I can’t believe her! Why was she even ask me that with such a face!” Solar whined as she kept walking through the now darkened streets of the amusement park. The only thing lighting the place was the few lamppost around the park, the extensive carousel and the ferries wheel that sat before the lake. The bright-multicolored attraction made Solar stop and stare at it from the distance.

I was not wrong. I was protecting Woozi…but…but why do I feel so guilty? I shouldn’t have told Moonbyul that…Solar thought as she felt a lone tear trace down her cheek.

“Oh, gosh! This ! I fought with my best friend over somebody I barely know!” Solar groaned as she wiped the tear away.

“I’ll talk to her and we’ll fix this. Yeah, that’s what I should do!” Solar quickly declared, as she was about to go back to Moonbyul when she suddenly spotted someone on a bench.

“Woozi!” Solar called as she ran to the boy in the bench. The boy looked up and tilted his head to a side upon seeing Solar before him.

“Woozi, you have no idea what just happened!” Solar began saying as she sat beside the boy, “It was horrible and I feel so bad! So, everything started fun and all. We were looking at the stars and stuff but then, Moonbyul began asking me if you were my soulmate and I shouldn’t have said what I said to her! But I just didn’t wanted to say that you were a Soulful since you sort of didn’t say it before so I kinda tried to convince Moonbyul to not ask further, but she kept asking! A-and then I-I told her to stop doubting when she knew nothing, a-a-and I-I shouldn’t had! I-I was so mean! I-I-I hurt her and I feel like s**t! I really- I’m just the worst!” By now Solar was a crying mess, wiping her tear rather roughly.

“Uh…it sounds to me that you care for Noona a lot,” Solar briskly looked up and her eyes widen upon staring at a boy with not purple hair…but blue hair. The boy looked very much like Woozi…yet through his swollen red eyes and downcast expression, Solar could see he was much older, “Sorry but, I’m not the guy you’re looking for,” He added as Solar quickly realized what she had just done and said. She had told a total stranger about Woozi’s secret and her fight with Moonbyul…well, isn’t she the best Soulmate and friend anyone could ever have?

“Wait,” Solar suddenly said as she turned to the blue haired boy, “Noona?”.
