Chapter 1: Mr. Ambiguous

Dandelion (Koi No Yokan Series - Book 1)

It was a beautiful morning in the city of Seoul. The skies were tinted with soft hues of blues, as it was still quite early.

There is a boy~ Hello, Mr. Aemaemoho~” A woman with pink locks sang with glee as she pranced through the streets. Summer had arrived not long ago…and it ; not that it didn’t have any advantages such as the fun trips to the beach, but realistically speaking, the weather was always warm or extremely hot.

Well, there’s nothing better than a nice iced tea early in the morning. The woman thought as she stood before a café with a sign that read MoonSun Café. The smell of coffee coming from the small vibrant red colored café made the pink haired woman smile as she stepped inside.

“Solar Unnie,” Solar smiled as she saw her friend, Hwasa, by the cashier. No one could miss Hwasa in a crowd, as she was just too exotic with her tanned skin and curvy figure.

“Did you get the job?” Hwasa asked as Solar shook her head, sitting on the stool before her friend.

“No. They said I was too loud for their liking,” Solar explained as Hwasa let out a hoarse chuckle.

“That’s so like you!” Hwasa chirped as Solar glared at her.

“It was unfair! Everyone was being loud,” Solar protested as they both heard the bell of MoonSun Café jingle, indicating someone had come in.

“Good morning, Boss,” Hwasa greeted her boss, Moonbyul, who simply glanced at her and then at Solar. Her long black locks were tied in a ponytail, which matched quite well with her pale complexion.

“I see you came by to disrupt my worker…again,” Moonbyul teased as Solar shrugged.

“I mean, it’s the only job I seem to be able to keep,” Solar groaned as Moonbyul raised an eyebrow at her.

“And why is that?” She asked as Solar briefly explained her situation, which caused Moonbyul to smirk at her.

“So…why not work here?” Moonbyul asked as Solar looked at her with bewilderment.

“Me? Really?” Solar asked as Moonbyul nodded.

“A pretty girl is always welcomed to work here,” Moonbyul said with a rather charming smile. Solar couldn’t help but smile as she rushed to her new boss and gave her a tight hug.

“Thank you! Thank you! I promise to do a great job, Byul!” Solar chirped as Hwasa smirked at Moonbyul, who quickly glared at her through her now rosy pink cheeks.

“W-well, see you tomorrow then! Go home or whatever!” Moonbyul said – clearly embarrassed at the sudden hug - as she hurriedly pushed Solar out the venue.

“Alrighty! See you tomorrow, guys!” Solar said – oblivious at Moonbyul’s embarrassment – as she hopped away. Moonbyul sighed before she felt a pair of mischievous eyes staring at her.

“Don’t start,” Moonbyul warned as Hwasa shrugged.

“Start what? You’re the one who began teasing her,” Hwasa said as Moonbyul rolled her eyes at her.

“So? Teasing and liking is not the same,” Moonbyul protested as she glances briefly at her left wrist. In bright cursive creamy yellow letters was the name Yongsun.

“Sure, boss~” Hwasa said in a rather cute tone as Moonbyul simply shook her head.

“You’re impossible,” Moonbyul said before walking away and disappearing in her office.

“And you are hopeless,” Hwasa muttered before going back to playing with her phone.

Thank goodness I finally got a job. If it weren’t for Moonbyul, I would have probably end up having to go to another interview tomorrow. Solar thought as she suddenly spotted a boy with purple locks in front of her apartment. He had a black facemask and a long sleeve shirt, much to Solar’s confusion since the weather had been awfully hot recently.

“Hi, Can I help you?” Solar greeted as she noticed the boy was around her height.

“Uh…well…” Solar stared at the boy with perplexity as this one kept his gaze on the ground while pulling on his sleeves. He seemed extremely uneasy, to a point of forgetting whatever he wanted to tell Solar.

“I…I’m…your soulmate,” The boy stated as Solar stared at him with wide eyes. All her life she had been told that meeting her soulmate would be magical, like meeting a real life unicorn right outside your house; that she would feel a sudden feeling of home once their gazes met, but, honestly, there was nothing with this boy. No spark and most definitely no feeling of home.

“Are you sure? I’m quite sure I don’t have a mark on me,” Solar said before glancing at her arms and legs just to make sure.

“Yes…I mean, I’m yours. That’s all,” Solar raised an eyebrow at his words.

“Uh…I’m confused,” Solar said as the boy suddenly lifted his shirt, slightly exposing his stomach.

“Omo! What are you doing all of a sudden? This isn’t right!” Solar protested as she quickly covered her eyes.

“N-no! Your name is here!” The boy corrected as Solar slightly parted her finger to see if he was telling the truth. And rightly so, she noticed the bright yellow Solar around the boy’s abdomen. It was written in a way that it made it look like it was melted on his body.

“Whoa…” It is all Solar could say as the boy silently pulled his shirt down.

“You’re…you’re not the first one,” The boy began saying as Solar frowned.

“What?” Solar asked as she boy pulled his sleeves up, revealing a pair of names.

“…You’re a soulful,” Solar breathed out as she stared at the names and then at the boy’s face. Now that she looked better at him, he was young…yet he looked broken, unsure as to where or who to go to.

“I am. I’ve been looking for my soulmates…most of them end up having someone else,” The boy explained as Solar couldn’t help but feel bad for him.

“Well, it’s okay,” Solar assured as she held the boy’s hands, “I’ll be your soulmate. I’ll take care of you!” The boy looked at her with wide eyes as a soft smile appeared on his pale complexion.

“…Thank you…thank you so much,” The boy said in a low voice as Solar wiped away a silent tear that roll down his cheek. She couldn’t help but wonder what that boy had gone through. He did say he had gone to other people before, but all of them had left him.

“Ah…come in! I’ll give you-…Aish! I forgot my tea!” Solar groaned as she – in the euphoria of getting a job – forgot to order her iced tea.

“I-I can make it for you! I-if you want,” The purple haired boy suggested as Solar glanced at the short boy.

Again…why is he looking at the ground? Solar thought as the boy kept scratching his arms, his eyes glued to the ground.

“…Okay! I’ll take you on that offer!” Solar chirped as the boy glanced at her, a small smile playing on his lips.

“Now, come on!” Solar sang as she dragged the boy into her apartment. Whether this would be a good idea or not, Solar didn’t know; yet…she did know that the boy before her was needing someone…and if there was something Solar has always missed herself…was someone…
