Chapter 4
It's Complicated“Wan, I’m home! Did you miss me?”
However, only silence greeted him.
Letting himself in their shared apartment, keying in the passcode of the date they first met, he had hoped that Wendy would still be awake and keen to celebrate but it seems that maybe this proposal was tiring for everyone. Dropping his blazer haphazardly on the kitchen island, which he knew would drive her nuts when she woke up, he quietly heads for his room before noticing the light streaming from her slightly open bedroom door.
Being the type to read at night as well as the type to be easily engrossed into the fictional world, Wendy had the habit of falling asleep with her glasses askew, book in her lap, and her neck crooked at an angle that is not at all comfortable or relaxing as she reclines on her headboard. Trying not to laugh out loud at her ridiculous position which guarantees her a stiff neck in the morning and at least two days of because of neck pain, Chanyeol quietly approaches to reposition her in order to make sure that he doesn’t have to deal with her whining tomorrow. Like a weekly routine, he carefully slips of her glasses and places her book on her nightstand; making sure to avoid the rookie mistake of forgetting a bookmark like the first time this happened.
Once Wendy was repositioned, he tiptoes out of her room without forgetting to turn off her reading lamp, knowing that the light will just make her toss and turn, until he spies a solitary piece of paper on her dresser. Though he doesn't make it a habit to spy and snoop on his best friend, he can’t help his curiosity and sneaks a peek…
All hopes of getting rid of the weird pain, since seeing her cry, went out the window...because that pain just doubled from staring down at the letter in my hands.
