Chapter 14
It's ComplicatedImportant tip for anyone who is having the most rotten day….DON’T question the universe on it’s cruel ways because you will just tempt it to make things even more complicated.
Additional fun fact for everyone: The universe also has an important skill in making people’s lives miserable. It can hear your worst fears….
So, here I am, facing Chanyeol’s fiance after waking up next to him and practically confessing my long overdue feelings in the worst fight of my life
“Joohyun, what are you doing here? Are you looking for Chan?”
“Sorry to turn up out of the blue, but I’m actually here for you...Can we talk?”
“Ummm sure, I wasn’t planning on coming in to work today anyways. Let me just drop these files and we can go to a nearby cafe.”
“The fight must’ve been a big one seeing as neither you nor Chanyeol is going to work.”
“You know about the fight?”
“Yeah, I dropped in this morning at the apartment and he told me about it. He looks pretty worse for wear. How about you, are you okay?”
“I could be better but it’s nothing that won’t work itself out. Is that why you wanted to talk? Because of the fight?”
“Partly...More than anything, it made me realize that we haven’t really talked properly, aside from our conversation with Chanyeol, and you’re his best friend and I’m his fiance so I think it’s about time we got to know each other a little bit. Just us girls...”
“Yeah, that makes sense. I’m pretty much done here, are you okay with walking in the cold? The cafe is only a block away.”
“Yeah sure, lead the way.”
Walking silently towards the cafe as we tried our best to huddle closer against the cold wind whilst simultaneously trying to stay as far away from each other, it never occurred to me how little time we spent without Chanyeol as a buffer. As a consequence of that, I now have to endure the next several minutes sipping coffee, avoiding eye contact and generally shrinking into a hunched figure as I shrivel up from the sheer awkwardness.
[“Welcome to the Grind House.”]
“What would you like, Wendy? It’s my treat.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course. I was the one who asked for this.”
“That’s really nice of you. I’ll just have a cappuccino. Thanks, Joohyun.”
“Just find any table and I’ll be right back.”
No matter how distant we were, I can easily understand why Chanyeol fell for her graceful demeanour, kind-hearted personality and poised charm. Chanyeol had finally landed his dream girl, even if it was at the expense of our friendship...
“Wan. Wan. Pay attention to me. Wan. Wan.”
“Oh my god, what do you want? Chan, I have a ton of work to do since it’s obvious that I’m the only one who cares about this damn music studio.”
“Oh come on, Wan...Are you still upset that I missed our anniversary party? I didn’t mean to do it, it just slipped my mind. ”
“Do you think that makes it better? I would’ve thought that us celebrating the success of our own music studio, after struggling and nearly giving up just a year ago, would be worth remembering but it seem like I’m wrong.”
“Please stop ignoring me, you’ve been giving
