“What is THAT?” Taeyeon said as she pointed to the crane that Tiffany had made

It was just barely passable as a crane but its beak was bent in different directions, it’s wings were uneven and the whole origami figure overall looked as though a five year old had made it

“It’s a crane” Tiffany said innocently

Taeyeon’s jaw dropped as she raised an eyebrow at Tiffany

“That’s a crane?” Taeyeon said shockingly

Tiffany lifted both her eyebrows and tilted her head to the side

“Yeah?”

Taeyeon stiffly turned her head to the ‘crane’ again

“Poor animal” Taeyeon pouted as she patted its head

“Hey!” Tiffany yelled as she pushed Taeyeon playfully

“Do you want me to teach you properly?” Taeyeon suggested

Tiffany shook her head

“I can do mine thank you very much” she huffed

Taeyeon looked at Tiffany with surprised eyes. She just then shrugged and returned to folding cranes

Tiffany took up another piece of paper and started folding it. She wasn’t really good with folding paper but she didn’t want Taeyeon to have another thing against her.

As the minutes passed by Taeyeon already had thirty cranes done whilst Tiffany only had ten.

Tiffany paused and pouted

“Taeyeon…” Tiffany whined

Taeyeon looked up from her half folded crane and up at Tiffany

“Help me please?” Tiffany whined as she looked at the measly folded cranes

Taeyeon chuckled as she picked up one of the cranes

“Poor things” Taeyeon smiled as she dropped them down back onto the bed

Tiffany pouted

“Here” Taeyeon smiled as she gave Tiffany all her cranes

“A little boost” Taeyeon smiled

Tiffany’s pout soon disappeared and grew into a smile

“Thanks” Tiffany smiled

Taeyeon just nodded as she continued making her cranes

Tiffany sat there and watched as she watched Taeyeon concentrate. Her tongue stuck to the side of whenever she was folding the small parts, making sure that it didn’t rip.

Tiffany then had a thought run through her mind

As Taeyeon was finishing off and pulling the wings to finish off, Tiffany leaned in slowly.

Taeyeon was still trying to fix the crane to make the back seem fuller.

From the side she then felt something soft against her cheeks.

Taeyeon looked to the side to see Tiffany pulling away with a smirk growing on her face

“Just small thanks” Tiffany smiled

Taeyeon was dumbfounded. Her cheeks slowly began to feel warmer as they started growing pink. She quickly turned away to avoid Tiffany raising suspicions

“Ermm... No problem” Taeyeon said quietly

Tiffany turned her head to the side to see Taeyeon’s expression but Taeyeon turned away again

“Tiffany…” Jessica called from the door

Taeyeon and Tiffany turned their heads towards the door

“Yes Jessica?” Tiffany called back

Jessica walked in with a few nurses and doctors behind her

It was time

“I thought it doesn’t start till another half hour” said Tiffany

“We need to prepare you for the operation. It will take around half an hour” Jessica said slowly

Tiffany let out a long sigh but nodded

“Sure okay” Tiffany whispered

Taeyeon turned her head back to look at Tiffany.

“Don’t worry. Everything’s okay. All the best surgeons are there right? And you have a lot of strong will too” Taeyeon encouraged

Tiffany nodded again

“Okay… I’ll go outside” Taeyeon smiled as she got off the bed

Tiffany held her hand back

“But…”

Taeyeon looked back at Tiffany

Jessica rolled her eyes as she turned around

“Turn around” she whispered to the others

The others smiled and turned their backs towards Taeyeon and Tiffany

“You won’t be here when it’s done…” Tiffany whispered

Taeyeon raised her eyebrows

“You’re going back for a week…” Tiffany continued

A wide grin grew on Taeyeon’s face as she turned back and face Tiffany

“I’ll be back after a week. I promise. Until then make sure you’re healthy” Taeyeon chuckled as she patted Tiffany’s forehead

Tiffany closed her eyes and nodded

“Taeyeon, your brother is down at the lobby if you want to go. He was waiting for you” Sooyoung popped her head in and informed Taeyeon

Taeyeon nodded.

“Promise one week?” Tiffany gripped onto Taeyeon’s hand

Taeyeon just made a peace sign with her other hand

“Of course. One week” Taeyeon said confidently. “Besides, my birthday is in eight days. I’ll be back so you can take me see the sunrise”

Tiffany looked at the calendar on the side of the room. Taeyeon’s birthday was indeed eight days away

“Still keeping your promise aren’t you?” Taeyeon smirked

“Of course I am” Tiffany smiled as she held up her pinky

“If you two are done?” Jessica interrupted

Taeyeon chuckled as she walked up to Jessica

“We are now” Taeyeon answered

Tiffany watched as Taeyeon grabbed a bag beside her bed and exited the room

“See you on my birthday” Taeyeon called out and waved as she walked out

“See you” Tiffany mumbled

With that Taeyeon and Tiffany went their ways

Taeyeon went down to reception with her bag and met up with her brother.

“Took you a while” Ji Woong chuckled

Taeyeon just shrugged

“How’s Hayeon now?” Taeyeon asked

“She’s grown taller. She’s probably taller than you” Ji Woong teased

Taeyeon just elbowed him in the stomach

“Let’s go. I want to see Hayeon again” Taeyeon smiled as she walked out of the hospital

 

 

Tiffany sat there as the doctors and nurses started putting needles into her arm. She had changed into her operation clothes and was now just waiting for the nurses to bring her to the operation room where the surgeons were waiting

“Okay you ready?” Jessica asked

Tiffany just nodded.

They then proceeded to wheel Tiffany into the room. As they entered the bright light blinded Tiffany’s eyes

When her eyes readjusted the surgeons held a mask over her face

“Count to ten and relax” said the surgeon

Tiffany just nodded as the mask was adjusted to her head

One…

Two…

Three…

Four…

Five…

Tiffany began to feel sleepy. Her vision began to blur as her eyelids got heavier

Six…

Seven…

Eight…

Nine…

…

Tiffany didn’t quite get to ten before she fell into a deep sleep.

 

 

 

One blink…

Two blinks…

Three…

Tiffany’s vision began to come back to her with each blink

“Tiffany you okay?” a muffled voice rang through the blurry vision

Tiffany blinked a few more times.

“Taeyeon?” Tiffany murmured

The voice chuckled

“Tiffany. It’s me, Yuri”

Tiffany’s vision then became clear

She was expecting to see Taeyeon in front of her, but to her surprise it was her friend Yuri.

“Yuri?” Tiffany’s voice was hoarse

“How are you feeling?” Yuri said with concern

Tiffany turned her head to the side and rubbed her eyes

“Thirsty” Tiffany croaked

Yuri nodded as she poured a cup of water for Tiffany

“Here” Yuri smiled

Tiffany weakly held the glass in her hand and took a drink from it, soothing her dry throat

“Thanks” said Tiffany

Yuri nodded slowly as she sat back down her seat

Tiffany finally had a chance to look around

She was in the same familiar room that she and Taeyeon had shared. The same wishes stuck onto the window, the same pot plant that still had one single blooming flower

She then looked to the side where she was expecting to see Taeyeon resting.

Shock ran through her when she saw it neatly made and empty

‘I’ll be back after a week’

Tiffany’s body then relaxed when she remembered that Taeyeon had gone to visit her family for a week

“Where’s your friend?” Yuri asked as she followed Tiffany’s gaze

Tiffany just let out a small smile

“Going to visit her family for a while” Tiffany answered barely audibly

“I see…” Yuri nodded awkwardly

Tiffany looked at the calendar again

“How long was I out?” Tiffany murmured

“Five days” Yuri answered confidently

“Five?!” Tiffany raised her voice

Yuri jumped back

“Yeah. The operation was a success but it knocked you out for five days.” Yuri answered quickly

Tiffany rolled her eyes as she looked around for her phone

“Where’s my phone?” Tiffany asked when she didn’t find it on her table

“Here. I charged it for you” Yuri said as she pulled the phone from her bag and handed it to Tiffany

Tiffany quickly opened up her phone and searched for Taeyeon’s number

“Calm down” Yuri chuckled at Tiffany’s urgency

Tiffany rolled her eyes as she held the phone up to her ear

Ring… Ring…

Ring… Ring…

“Hello?” answered a masculine voice

Tiffany frowned as she pulled her phone down and checked the ID

‘Call as soon as you’re okay’

*I’m sure this is the number* Tiffany thought to herself

“Hello~?” the voice said again

“Hello, is this Kim Taeyeon’s phone Tiffany asked nervously

“Sorry but no. This is her father’s number” The voice said confusingly

Tiffany blinked a few times

“Are you Taeyeon’s friend?” the father asked

“Ah. Yes” Tiffany answered nervously

“I see. Taeyeon told me that if her friend were to call to tell her. Unfortunately Taeyeon has gone out with her brother and sister for a while. Is there a message you’d like to send?” he asked patiently

Tiffany bit her lower lip

“Ah. Can you please tell her that I’m sorry for not calling sooner and… and… that I’ll see her soon” Tiffany added hesitantly

“I see. I will pass on the message.” The father chuckled

“Thank you. Bye…” Tiffany said disheartedly

“Excuse me” the father interrupted before Tiffany could hang up. “I’d like to say thank you, for being there for my daughter. It means the world to her to have a friend.”

Tiffany smiled widely

“It’s nothing really. I’m glad I could have someone like her besides me too” Tiffany said embarrassed

The father let out a small chuckle

“I see… Thank you again… ermm… I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name”

“Tiffany” Tiffany answered politely

“I see. Thank you Tiffany”

“Thank you Mr Kim” Tiffany replied before the two got off the line

“Mr Kim?” Yuri raised her eyebrow. “We’re not getting into a scandal now are we?” Yuri joked

Tiffany shot a glare at Yuri

“No… Taeyeon told me to call that number as soon as I was conscious. I thought it’d be hers but it was actually her father’s” Tiffany said with a dumbfounded expression

“Your little friend is cute you know” Yuri suddenly sighed

“I beg your pardon?” said Tiffany in a surprised expression

“She’s small but not too small. She seems really kind and caring. And after going through all your stuff, she seems like a total dork. Who’s Taetoro anyway?” Yuri asked

Tiffany giggled at Taeyeon’s nickname

“Taetoro is a special friend of mine and Totoro’s” Tiffany answered proudly

“I see.” Yuri said confusingly

Tiffany just smiled innocently as she put her phone onto the table next to her

As she turned her body there was a little sting on her chest. She looked down and gasped to see stitches on her chest

“Yeah… A little aftermath” Yuri bit her lower lip nervously

Tiffany raised her eyebrow as she saw the scar run down her chest

“It will go away… eventually…” Yuri said hesitantly

Tiffany let out a long sigh and nodded

“So it’s the 6^th of March today?” Tiffany turned her attention away from her scar

“Yeah. Why?” Yuri said boredly as she rested her chin against the palm of her hand

Tiffany just smiled to herself

“A little date” Tiffany answered cheekily

Yuri fell forward as her chin slipped off her hand

“What?!” Yuri said surprisingly

Tiffany gave an innocent pout

“Who are you dating?” Yuri immediately questioned

Tiffany chuckled

“Not an actual date. I’m going to take Taeyeon to see the sunrise on her birthday” Tiffany explained

Yuri frowned as her shoulders slumped

“That’s all?” Yuri said disappointedly

“Should there be anymore?” Tiffany asked back

“I don’t know. Do you want more?” Yuri grinned

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Tiffany glared

Yuri just shrugged

“I happen to come across that Taeyeon’s diary. Seems a little… interesting” Yuri smiled

“Diary?” Tiffany raised her eyebrow

Yuri nodded towards the table where there was a small book neatly placed

“Want to read?” Yuri smirked

Tiffany stared at the small book on the table. Curiosity started to run through her.

*I wonder what she wrote* Tiffany thought curiously

She then shook her head

“No thank you. Diaries are not meant to be read” Tiffany said stubbornly

Yuri gave Tiffany a teasing stare

“You sure about that?” Yuri asked teasingly

Tiffany closed her eyes and shook her head.

Yuri chuckled

Tiffany opened one of her eyes and looked at Yuri, she was staring at Tiffany with an evil smirk

“What?” Tiffany asked coldly

Yuri just shrugged

“Well. I gotta go. I’ll probably come visit tomorrow” Yuri smiled

Tiffany opened her eyes and grabbed onto Yuri’s hand

“Thanks for visiting” Tiffany smiled

“No problem” Yuri chuckled. “Take care of yourself”

“I will” Tiffany reassured

Yuri nodded as she walked to the door, passing the diary. She stopped midway to the door and reversed to the table

“Here. Just some reading material” Yuri winked as she threw Tiffany a diary

Tiffany fumbled with the diary, until she finally caught it

“I’m not going to read it” Tiffany said defensively

Yuri shrugged

“It was just a suggestion. I have to go now. See you tomorrow” Yuri gave a wide cheesy smile before she exited the room

Tiffany sat on the bed with the small blue diary in her hands

“No I can’t do this…” Tiffany said to herself as she held the diary away

She stared at the temptation in her hands

“No, no, no” Tiffany shook her head as she put the diary on Taeyeon’s bed

When she put the diary on her bed she paused…

She was going to be alone in the hospital for another two days…

Taeyeon was in the outside world with her family whilst she was still inside the four walls. Her finger ran along the bed sheets of the empty bed

Loneliness ran through her.

*Just two more days until she’s back* Tiffany thought determinedly as she walked back to her bed

Silence filled the room

*Two days…*
