“Hmmm. Bleeding heart huh?” Tiffany whispered as she stared at the pot plant on the window sill. The flower bud had started to bloom but only by a bit. It hasn’t progressed anymore ever since.

Taeyeon was off with Jessica again for another check-up. Tiffany noticed that she has been getting a lot more check-ups with each passing day and was wondering whether there was something wrong with her. But every time Taeyeon came back, the answer was always ‘I’m perfectly fine’ or ‘Jessica worries too much’

Tiffany was beginning to doubt the truthfulness of Taeyeon’s words, but every time she did, Taeyeon would prove that she was perfectly fine by doing something radical. Tiffany really didn’t like Taeyeon going out and pushing herself to prove she was healthy, so she just took Taeyeon’s words and didn’t tell her about her doubts

Taeyeon burst through the room happily as she ran up and hugged Tiffany from behind

“Miss me?” Taeyeon chuckled

Tiffany turned around and used her knuckle to hit Taeyeon’s forehead

“You always leave me alone in here. I really don’t see a difference between your room and my room anymore” Tiffany complained with a pout

Taeyeon let go of Tiffany’s waist and used her hands to cover the red spot that was developing on her head from Tiffany’s attack

“I don’t leave you intentionally. Jessica and Sooyoung are just being the old naggy women they are” Taeyeon complained

She then quickly closed her eyes and ducked her head, expecting either Sooyoung or Jessica behind her. Sure enough, Jessica was behind her.

Jessica took Tiffany’s pillow and slapped Taeyeon across the head with it

“Who’s an old naggy woman?” Jessica growled

“Why does everyone attack my head? I can develop brain tumours at this rate” Taeyeon pouted as she ducked under Jessica’s arm and onto her bed

Tiffany giggled as she took the pillow from Jessica’s hand and sat on her own bed, laying the pillow over her stomach

“Anyways. I’m here to bring some good news to Tiffany” Jessica said in a tired tone

Tiffany had a shocked expression on her face as she pointed to herself. From the side she could see Taeyeon clapping eagerly

“We found you a heart donor” Jessica said in an unexcited tone

Taeyeon took her pillow and threw it at Jessica, hitting a bullseye right on Jessica’s face.

When the pillow fell to the floor, Jessica blew a few strands of hair from her face and glared at Taeyeon

“Couldn’t you at least be a little happier? Sheez” Taeyeon chuckled

Jessica calmly bent over to pick up Taeyeon’s pillow. Taeyeon stopped chuckling and quickly scrambled to the door. Jessica took aim and threw the pillow with all her might

“Oof”

Jessica froze. It wasn’t Taeyeon’s voice that she had heard. Instead it was another nurse’s

Sooyoung’s to be precise

“Jessica has the muscles of an elephant” Taeyeon whispered from behind Sooyoung, who was standing there with her hair now messed up

Tiffany giggled at Taeyeon’s comment, but immediately stopped when Jessica turned her head to look at her.

“For once I agree with Taeyeon” Sooyoung said in a joking matter

Jessica reached for the closest thing she had to throw at Sooyoung. The closest thing to her though, was the pot plant Taeyeon and Tiffany had been hiding

“Wait!” Tiffany yelled as she quickly grabbed the pot plant and put it back on the window sill

Jessica froze, with her hand still in mid-throw

“Tiffany just saved your Sooyoung” Taeyeon giggled through Sooyoung’s ear

“What’s a pot doing here in the first place?” Sooyoung hushed as her heart started beating faster

Taeyeon weaved her way around Sooyoung and shrugged

Jessica blinked a few times before finally putting her hand down. She looked on her hand to see soil and dirt on it

“Eww! What is this?!” Jessica shrieked as she shook her hand

“Soil and dirt. What does it look like?” Taeyeon said sarcastically

“I know its soil and dirt! But why is it on MY hand?!” Jessica quickly ran to the bathroom to wash her hand

“You better use disinfectant too Jessi! The soil and dirt came from a cucumber plant’s pot!” Taeyeon yelled

Another high pitched shriek echoed their bathroom

“Cucumber?” Tiffany raised her eyebrow

Taeyeon shrugged her shoulders

“Jessica has this phobia of cucumber. Quite funny actually” Taeyeon stuck her tongue out to the side

“I won’t be here to save your ” Sooyoung yawned as she walked out the room

“See me work my magic” Taeyeon chuckled evilly as she rubbed her hands together

Jessica walked out of the bathroom with her hands giving off a really strong smell of soap. Jessica still looked at her hands with disgust though

“I wonder how long it takes for cucumbers to grow. I feel like eating some. Nurse Jung~ Could I please get a cucumber salad?” Taeyeon said innocently to Jessica

“Are you out of your mind?! Get it yourself!” Jessica shot back

Taeyeon held her hands up defensively

“I was just saying. I’ll go call another nurse to bring it for me” Taeyeon sighed as she pressed the red button

“I’m out of here” Jessica quickly grumbled as she ran out of the room

Taeyeon burst out into laughter as soon as Jessica was gone

“She really that scared of them?” Tiffany asked curiously

Taeyeon slowly stopped laughing and gave a proud nod

“All that aside though. Congratulations Tiffany” Taeyeon beamed as she gave Tiffany a tight hug

Tiffany then remembered the news that Jessica had given her. After 6 months of waiting she finally had a donor.

“Thanks” Tiffany smiled as she hugged Taeyeon back

“Soon you’ll be able to go outside freely… and hang out with your friends… and… and enjoy life like everyone else…” Tiffany noticed that Taeyeon’s voice began to quiver

Tiffany hugged Taeyeon tighter

“Taeyeon-ah. What’s wrong?” Tiffany asked softly

Taeyeon shook her head on Tiffany’s shoulder

“I’m just going to miss you, that’s all” Taeyeon murmured

“You won’t have to. Soon you’ll be out there with me. You said you were getting better right?”

Taeyeon’s grip around Tiffany tightened

“Yeah…” Taeyeon whispered with a nod

It was then that Tiffany didn’t feel right. Her stomach twisted in pain at Taeyeon’s whisper. Something wasn’t right with Taeyeon’s words

“Taeyeon… You sure you’re alright?” Tiffany whispered in an unsure tone

She heard Taeyeon sniff on her shoulder as thought she was crying. Tiffany tried to push Taeyeon back and look at her but Taeyeon held her grip. Not allowing her to move from the hug

“I don’t want you to see me right now” Taeyeon chuckled. “I’m just really happy for you… I get really emotional sometimes”

Tiffany then wrapped her arms around Taeyeon’s neck and rested her head against her shoulder

“Thank you Taeyeon” Tiffany whispered

Taeyeon nodded before she pulled away from the hug, turning around to quickly wipe away any evidence of her crying before turning back to Tiffany

“Well should we go celebrate?” Taeyeon said in a joyful tone

Her nose was a little red and her eyes had small but noticeable rings around them

Tiffany looked up at Taeyeon accusingly. Were they really tears of joy?

Taeyeon just innocently turned her head to the side and smiled. That alone was enough to wipe all doubts that Tiffany had

“We’ll go visit Yoona, Hyoyeon and Timmy tonight. I’m sure they’re missing us” Taeyeon suggested as she walked to the small wardrobe to get her oversized hoodie and shorts

“Take your time. It’s still early” Taeyeon smiled as she walked out to get changed

Tiffany didn’t even have time to object before Taeyeon was out of the room. Not only was she overwhelmed with joy, but she was also overwhelmed with worry.

Over the past six months, Tiffany had always spent her time at the hospital with Taeyeon. Getting into trouble for sneaking out, missing check-ups and teasing the nurses had become a daily thing for Tiffany now.

Now that she had a heart donor, she would be able to return to her normal life, outside the four walls of Taeyeon’s and her room. The only thing was… Tiffany didn’t want to return to her normal life. Her life with Taeyeon had become the norm for her and now she wasn’t really sure what she was going to do with herself

Tiffany sighed as she walked over to the bleeding heart plant. She took her water bottle and gave it some water as she began to fall into deep thought

If she were to get better before Taeyeon does, what was she going to do? Tiffany rested her arm against the window sill and put her chin against her arm as she stared at the pot

Six months she had been together with Taeyeon. It was a short time, but Tiffany has already become too attached to let her go

“I know I said it was still early Tiffany. But please don’t stay in there till nightfall” Taeyeon called out from outside

“Coming” Tiffany called back as she closed the water bottle lid and got ready.

“Timmy! We have two fugitives on the loose!” Yoona yelled out as soon as she saw Tiffany and Taeyeon enter the restaurant

Taeyeon chuckled as she wrapped her arm around Tiffany’s neck and made her hand into a gun shape before pointing it at Tiffany’s forehead

“Don’t move otherwise I’ll shoot” Taeyeon threatened

Tiffany blinked a few times before turning to look at Taeyeon

“What are you doing?” Tiffany asked, noticing that Taeyeon was having difficulty keeping her arm around her neck and reaching up to her forehead

“Timmy can we have a stool out here please? The attacker isn’t tall enough to threaten the victim” Hyoyeon called out to the kitchen

“Tsk” Taeyeon huffed as she let Tiffany go

The two of them took their seats in the usual two chairs near the kitchen

“What can I get the lovely couple today?” Yoona chuckled as she got her electrical notebook out

Taeyeon and Tiffany both shot a glare at Yoona at the same time

“We’re not a couple” Tiffany said sternly

Yoona held her hands up defensively as though their glares were piercing knives

“Someone’s getting high-tech” Taeyeon smiled as she poked the device in Yoona’s hands

“She’s been such a ditz lately we just HAD to get her one” Hyoyeon interrupted as she nudged Yoona’s rib

Yoona just stuck her tongue out at Hyoyeon

“The usual right?” Yoona asked rather annoyed

Taeyeon nodded with her chin rested in her hands

Hyoyeon and Yoona then disappeared as they served other customers

As the two waited for their food, there was an unusual silence between them

“So… Tiffany… Why aren’t we a couple?” Taeyeon asked suddenly, trying to get rid of the awkwardness

Tiffany, who was drinking some water, hacked up half of the water in at Taeyeon’s sudden question

Taeyeon laughed as she pointed at Tiffany and slammed the other against the table.

“Looks like we’ll have to use the water balloon method three years ago” Taeyeon said in between her laughs

Tiffany managed to stop coughing and kicked Taeyeon’s leg under the table

“Not funny” Tiffany muttered

Taeyeon just kept on laughing for another minute before she stopped

Yoona and Hyoyeon then brought out their food and rested it against their table

“You two enjoy. Timmy said this one’s on the house tonight.” Hyoyeon smiled

Taeyeon just nodded her head and gave them an innocent smile

“Now if you don’t mind. I need to help Yoona get the orders right. Even with an electronic device she still manages to mess up” Hyoyeon muttered as she dragged Yoona away by the ear

“Well let’s celebrate. To Tiffany’s donor…” Taeyeon’s voice slowly trailed off

Tiffany raised her eyebrow

“What is it Taeyeon?” Tiffany asked curiously

Taeyeon sighed

“I really don’t think we should be celebrating…” Taeyeon said grimly

Tiffany furrowed her eyebrows

“Your donor… He’s gone now and we’re celebrating the fact that he is…” Taeyeon said slowly

Tiffany’s mood then plummeted as reality hit her. A heart donor had to GIVE their heart to Tiffany… And in order to do that they must be…

Tiffany didn’t want to think about it

“With all respects to your donor” Taeyeon toasted

Tiffany held up her cup and clinked it against Taeyeon’s

“Rest in peace” Tiffany prayed silently

That dinner hadn’t gone quite as Taeyeon had planned. It was rather awkward and silent as the two ate.

When they had finished they said their goodbyes to Timmy, Yoona and Hyoyeon and made their way back to the hospital

On the walk Taeyeon decided to start a conversation

“Tiffany… What am I to you?” Taeyeon asked curiously as she kicked a rock

Tiffany linked her arms with Taeyeon’s and gave a warm smile

“You’re my bestest friend of course” Tiffany beamed

Taeyeon stopped walking and looked at Tiffany

“Is that it?” Taeyeon asked with an eyebrow raised

Tiffany tilted her head to the side

“Yeah… why? Are you supposed to be something more” Tiffany said mockingly

“I was expecting something like. The cutest, kindest, hottest, bestest person you’ve ever met” Taeyeon stretched her arm out as she listed all the traits

Tiffany chuckled as she pocked Taeyeon’s spine

“You wish”

Taeyeon dropped her arms and gave an embarrassed smile

“A girl can dream” Taeyeon answered

Tiffany rolled her eyes as she linked her arms with Taeyeon’s again and walked to the hospital

“I don’t think Sooyoung or Jessica would appreciate dealing with you again today. We should get back” Tiffany suggested

Taeyeon leaned back from Tiffany’s arm, causing Tiffany to have to pull to get Taeyeon to move

“I don’t want to” Taeyeon whined

Tiffany stopped dragging Taeyeon and turned around with her arms crossed across her chest

“What will it take you to get back then?” Tiffany said tiredly

Taeyeon pouted as she pointed to a window nearby. Tiffany followed her finger to the window, but inside the window there was nothing but an empty cage of the pet store

“What did you wa….”

As Tiffany turned around she was interrupted by something on her lips. Taeyeon had pressed her lips against Tiffany’s and had shut her eyes. A warm sensation was spreading through her body, starting from her lips.

The sensation didn’t last long. Taeyeon removed herself from Tiffany’s lips

“A good night’s kiss” Taeyeon beamed as she gave a cheeky smile

Tiffany blinked three times before she let out her breath, not realising that she had been holding it in until her lungs began to burn

“Yah!” Tiffany yelled as she raised her hand to hit Taeyeon

Taeyeon giggled as she quickly skipped ahead, narrowly avoiding Tiffany’s attack

“Bleh” Taeyeon exclaimed as she pulled her lower eye-lid and stuck her tongue out at Tiffany

“Aish” Tiffany said in frustration as she watched Taeyeon skip up ahead

Tiffany then felt something on her lips that wasn’t there before. She her bottom lip to taste a bit of some sweet strawberry, along with a bitter taste of some lip gloss

*I didn’t know she used strawberry* Tiffany thought to herself

“Lip gloss isn’t good for you, you know” Taeyeon called up from ahead

Tiffany blushed upon the realisation that Taeyeon had caught her

“Kim Taeyeon!  You’re dead!” Tiffany yelled as she chased Taeyeon

As the two were running up hill, Taeyeon stopped in her tracks and stared across the town. Tiffany caught up and followed Taeyeon’s gaze

“What is it?” Tiffany asked as she watched the vast area

“Just wishing” Taeyeon smiled

Tiffany quickly held her hand over and shook her head. Taeyeon laughed at Tiffany’s reaction

“No I’m not wishing for that” Taeyeon reassured

Tiffany lowered her arms and stared into Taeyeon’s eyes, which seemed to be rather distant

“More than anything in the world. I want to be able to see the sunrise on my birthday” Taeyeon said aloud. “And not just from the window either” Taeyeon added

Tiffany smiled at Taeyeon’s sincere wish

“I’ll be sure to make that happen” Tiffany said determinedly

Taeyeon looked at Tiffany curiously

“On your birthday I’ll take you to see the sunrise. Whether it be rain, hail or snow, I will still take you” Tiffany beamed as she held out her hand

Taeyeon smiled back at Tiffany’s promise and took her hand and gave it a quick shake

“You better keep your word Hwang” Taeyeon sneered

Tiffany made a peace sign near her eye and stuck her tongue out

“Of course I will. After all~ You are the cutest, kindest, hottest, bestest person I’ve ever met” Tiffany quoted Taeyeon’s list of traits

“Naww” Taeyeon sighed as she made a touched expression

“Yah! Don’t get too far ahead of yourself” Tiffany said bluntly as she linked Taeyeon’s arms and made their way back again

Taeyeon smiled to herself happily behind Tiffany

*Tiffany. Saranghae* Taeyeon said mentally as she gripped Tiffany’s arm tighter

From the window sill of their room, one of the buds was slowly blooming. Its pink petals finally showing itself, forming a heart shaped flower with a water-drop coming from the middle. The moon’s light shone through the glass and focused on the one blooming flower. It looked as if it was waiting. Waiting for the bud next to it to bloom together with it.

The sweet smell wafted through their room, lingering and waiting to welcome the two when they were coming back. Sending a sign to the bud next to it that it was time to bloom
