Wendy stood up as soon as she saw the other girl walking in, she quickly fixed her clothes and her heart started racing.

“Wendy? Is that really you?” Irene asked surprised, she never expected to see Wendy in that place especially because she was supposed to meet with a person named Taeyeon.

The younger one kept looking at Irene, the girl’s beauty never failed to mesmerise her, how can someone like her be real? “Is your korean name Taeyeon?” Wendy was snapped back to reality when she heard Irene.

“N-no! Taeyeon is a friend, I mean, I work with her, but she’s also a friend I happened to meet in college and we ended up working together but she couldn’t make it so she asked me to go to this meeting instead” Wendy rambled making Irene giggle.

“It’s fine Wendy, I get it, it’s funny, I’m sure she told you she was going to meet Park Bogum right? Well he couldn’t come either so he asked me to take his place”

Wendy couldn’t help but smile, she couldn’t believe Irene was basically under the same situation as her, it was just as if fate wanted them to be together.

“I suddenly just don’t want to talk about the project anymore” Wendy said unconsciously earning a smack on her arm.

“Seriously, I wonder how can you say such things so nonchalantly”

“I just can’t help it around you” as Irene heard that she blushed and giggled, Wendy on the other hand was about to have a heart attack, how can someone be this pretty, she thought, she couldn’t take her eyes off Irene’s face.

“We should actually start talking about the project, we don’t want to get fired, do we?” Irene spoke as she sat down taking some paper out and placing them on the table, Wendy nodded and sat.

Irene started to explain everything they were thinking about for their new building, it was a really ambitious, but it was what their CEO wanted, Irene took a glance at the girl in front of her and noticed she was only staring and not even taking notes.

“Wendy-ah, are you even paying attention?” she questioned the latter.

“I totally agree with that” Irene took a sheet and hit Wendy’s head with it, now getting a proper reaction from the girl. “Did I have something on my head?” Wendy asked surprised by Irene’s sudden action, Irene shook her head and sighed.

“No, Wendy, it’s just that I’m almost done explaining everything and yet you haven’t taken a single note, it seems like you weren’t even listening to what I was saying, you looked kind of lost, did you perhaps have a bad night? DIdn’t you sleep well?” Wendy noticed the concerned look of Irene and felt bad, Irene was putting effort into this, and it wasn’t fair, this is the biggest project they’ve had so far and yet she wasn’t acting professional.

“I’m really sorry, I was just being distracted, can you explain again? I promise I’ll take notes on every single detail you mention” Irene smiled, she found how cute the girl looked. She explained and this time Wendy paid her whole attention to what Irene was telling her. At the end Wendy just gave her points of view on it and how her team could manage the work.

“Sorry for making you repeat everything, what if I treat you lunch as compensation?” Wendy asked shyly, Irene smiled and nodded.

“Sure, I have my lunch break at 1:30”

“Sounds great, I’ll pick you up for it then”

The two girls returned to their respective activities, Joohyun went to report everything that was discussed for the project, while Wendy went to tell the rest what were the plans for Yuri’s company. Wendy couldn’t contain her happiness, her smile was brighter than ever, Irene sure had an effect on her, she kept looking at the time, she was impatient to meet Irene again for lunch.

Wendy made her way back to Irene’s company, arriving 10 minutes before the time they set, but she just stood there waiting for her companion, just three minutes later Irene appeared, she hurried to where Wendy was, the latter smiled at her sweetly.

“I’m sorry I made you wait again, got caught up with work” Irene apologised.

“It’s alright, I don’t mind waiting forever as long as it’s for you” and as expected, Wendy just earned another smack on her shoulder, even if the girl’s words made Irene cringe, she couldn’t help but feel flustered, she smiled shyly.

“Yah! We better get going, I’m hungry” Irene said as she walked towards the exit, she didn’t want Wendy to see her that way.

They went to a place which was just five minutes away from the company, Wendy kept making the girl laugh, Irene would be lying if she said she wasn’t having a great time, in fact, this was the best lunch she’s had in quite a long time, Wendy just made her smile and feel comfortable, she made her feel free. And Wendy just kept making her laugh, she loved the older’s dolphin laugh, it was just the cutest thing ever.

“Wendy, please stop, you’re making my stomach hurt” Irene said, she almost cried from all that laugh. “Sorry Irene, but I just can’t help it, your laugh is just too cute and besides, you look even more beautiful when you smile” Irene’s face turned red as she heard those words.

“Seriously, you’re the most greasy person ever” Wendy smiled proudly. “Just for you m’lady”

The lunch went great, they got to know each other better, Wendy made sure to walk Irene back to her workplace and told the younger one to send her a text to tell her she arrived safely to her office.

Irene went back to her station to work on some papers and then Bogum appeared. “Joohyun, I’ve been looking for you, where were you?” he asked her right away, Irene sighed, reality just gave her a slap, it’s not that she disliked Bogum, but being around him now just stressed her, ever since they started living together.

“I went out to get lunch” she answered, Bogum just nodded. “It’s fine, how did the meeting go? Did you tell them everything our boss wants? I didn’t want to get in trouble for not going, so I’m glad you agreed to go” the girl just rolled her eyes hearing everything her fiancee was saying, but actually, she was thankful Bogum sent her, that way she was able to see Wendy, the girl who just lighted up her day.

“Yes, I did, I already reported it” Bogum smiled and quickly gave her a kiss on her cheek before leaving. “Thanks Hyun, by the way, I’ll be home late tonight, so don’t bother on waiting for me here, just go ahead.”

Just as the man left, Joohyun’s phone rang, it was Wendy’s text.

From: Wendy.

I arrived safely, hope you continue having a great day, focus on your work, I’ll text you later! :)

Joohyun smiled widely and quickly replied to the girl, she was still surprised how much a single message could lift up her mood.

The next day, it was a busy one, Irene had been running through the whole building sending in and sorting papers, thanks to the unexpected meeting Bogum made her go to yesterday, she wasn’t able to finish everything she had to do on time, what really gave her energy was the text Wendy sent her in the morning, the girl was so sweet, it was almost lunch time, and she was still busy, she won’t have time to go to buy lunch.

What bothered her the most is that Bogum wouldn’t even go to get her some food, he barely check on her while they were at work. She was in her floor’s hall when she noticed someone familiar approaching to her.

“Wendy? What are you doing here?” Irene thought she was dreaming, the girl in front of her was carrying a lunchbox.

“I came here to bring you lunch, since you mentioned how busy you’ll be today in your morning text, I figured out you wouldn’t even have time to buy lunch, so I decided to bring you some food” Wendy explained, Irene smiled and hugged the girl in response. Just when Irene did that, Wendy felt she was in heaven, she carefully wrapped her arms around the girl, as if she was the most precious thing on earth.

“Thank you so much Wendy, you didn’t have to”

“It’s okay, they’re just leftovers from last night’s dinner, I promise I’ll bring you fresh food next time, but for now, you should go back to work, just make sure to eat” Irene nodded and waved the girl goodbye.

The following days, Wendy made sure to bring the girl food, or just anything she thought that would make Irene happy, she has even brought here chocolates. But this day, she decided to stop by the flower shop, she bought a bouquet, she wanted to ask Irene out for dinner next weekend, she had noticed Irene was pretty dense when it came to realise Wendy’s intentions.

“Good morning Momo, how are you today?” she greeted Irene’s floor receptionist, she’s started to go so often she befriended her. “Hi, Wendy, I’m fine thanks” but before she could ask for Irene, she saw her beloved walking alongside a handsome man, Wendy suddenly felt nervous, she tried to look away but it was too late, Irene noticed her and the pair started to walk towards her.

“Hi Wendy” Irene greeted her with a bright smile, she noticed the flower bouquet the younger one was holding. “H-hello Irene” Wendy stuttered, and Irene couldn’t help but find it cute. “Mind introducing me to your friend Irene?” Bogum butted in, the girl rolled her eyes. “Bogum, this is Wendy, Wendy this is Bogum, he’s my…” Irene realised what she was about to say, it was true, she never really told Wendy about her relationship status.

Irene didn’t finish her sentence and looked at Wendy, she had a lifted eyebrow, she looked confused, but to her dismay Bogum decided to speak again. “I’m her fiancee, nice to meet you” Irene wanted to facepalm herself so bad right now, and Wendy felt something inside her broke as she heard the man’s words, of course, why didn’t she realised it earlier, of course a girl like Irene would be taken already. Irene noticed how Wendy was sulking.

“Wendy, are you okay?” Irene asked, she was worried. “Y-yes! I am! Better than ever! Y-you see I just came here to bring Momo some flowers, she’s so radiant today!” Wendy tried to make some excuse up and give her best smile. Irene felt sad at the girl’s response, she didn’t expect that, she always thought Wendy just looked at her, she never thought the girl would have a thing for Momo.

“I see, well, Bogum and I have to go somewhere else, I guess I’ll see you later Wendy” Irene said that with a shaky voice and pulled Bogum along and walked away, leaving a depressed Wendy behind and a really confused Momo. Wendy groaned and facepalmed herself. “Keep the flowers Momo, it was nice to see you” with that Wendy also left the building.

Momo blinked a few times replaying the scene that just occurred right there. “What just happened?”
