Like a Foxglove
Description
This is a story about family relationship, on how a loving sister will act in response to the catastrophic incident involving her beloved brother. This will also tackle and show how bizarre LOVE is! That true love may blossom even in the most peculiar situation and with the most unexpected, loathed person.
Yoona’s life is almost perfect. Her family owned a number of companies from all over Korea. She is showered with love from both her parents and from her only brother, Seulong. Aside from being a bright and cheerful girl that she is, Yoona is blessed with extraordinary beauty and endearing personality. Her parents supported her in all her endeavors. She stayed in New York since her college years and was not able to come home since then. Her parents and brother visited her from time to time. She studied law in Harvard University. After passing the bar exam, she decided to go back to Korea. She always has a soft spot for the less fortunate and she purposely wanted to be a lawyer in order to help those poor people who seek justice but can’t avail it. The other reason why she’s so thrilled to come home is for her brother’s engagement. She looks forward to meet Seulong’s fiancé - her soon to be sister in law!
However, her glee change into fury when she was informed what happened to her brother. That incident changed her. For the first time in her life she came to know of that certain feeling – HATE! So, from that time on, she’ll be treading a different direction…she’d decided to do something…something that she never ever think of before – REVENGE!
But what if fate will intervene and on her mission to bring pain, she found love as well? Will she even succeed?
Foreword
Foxgloves--- a flower that have both positive and negative symbolic meanings. They are said to sometimes hurt and sometimes heal. In the language of flowers, foxglove is associated with insincerity. The duality of foxglove makes it a medical miracle or a deadly surprise.
The name derives from the shape of the flowers resembling the fingers of a glove - 'folk’s glove' meaning belonging to the fairy folk. Folklore tells that bad fairies gave the flowers to the fox to put on his feet to soften his steps whilst hunting. The whole foxglove plant is extremely poisonous, but provides a source of digitalis used by doctors in heart medicine. The commonest color for the foxglove is pink/purplebut you often see white blooms in the hedgerows.
“I was supposed to give you only pain,
but amongst the pain, I gave you my love…”
Author’s Note
I’m not really a writer and this is my first try in writing a story, so please bear with me. I choose to write a short story (probably a maximum of 10 chapters) since I admit that I don’t have the ability (yet) to complete a long story. I hate to admit that my vocabulary is not that rich as well, so I apologize in advance. However, I just really wanted to try. Constructive criticisms (you can p.m. me for that) will be welcomed and appreciated for they will help me improved and will be my determining factor whether to continue or give up writing JAlso, excuse my grammar since English is not my first language.
This is a work of fiction, a product of my imagination. Any similarities with other stories are purely coincidental. Celebrity names are merely borrowed and no offense is intended for them.
My heartfelt thanks to my dear dongsaeng Tinywings, (Please do check her stories as well) for the lovely poster!
Chak, I think I can’t do this if not for you. I’ll forever be grateful for your all-out support and encouragement.
