The next day, Qianxi opened the door and was greeted by Yangmi who smiled at him.

“Good morning, Qianxi!”

“Good morning to you too, Yangmi. Where’s Junkai?”

“He forgot something so he went back to get it. Let’s just wait for him for a bit.”

Qianxi nodded as they both stand in awkward silence.

“How long have you two been dating?”

“Umm, a little bit over 4 months.” Qianxi scratched his nape.

“Oh, so you two are still a bit new.”

“Mhm.”

“This might be easy.” Yangmi smirked.

“E-Easy for what?” Qianxi looked down.

“Easy to avoid looking like a third wheel. As his delegate, I have to stick by him. I don’t want to look like a third party because I’m naturally clingy to Junkai.” Yangmi shrugged.

“I see.” Qianxi nodded.

“Qianxi!” Junkai grinned as he ran to hug Qianxi.

“Hi.” Qianxi smiled.

“Did you wait too long?”

“I did. My feet are already tired and we’re not even there. You’re too slow.” Yangmi whined as she laced her arm with Junkai.

“I’m sorry. I forgot my English notebook.” Junkai smiled sheepishly.

“Let’s go?” Junkai offered his hand to Qianxi who stared at it with bitten lips.

“Yeah, let’s go.” Qianxi walked ahead, leaving Junkai confused.

“Come on, we’ll be late!” Yangmi dragged Junkai to walk.

At the bus, Qianxi chose to seat at the two-seated side which made Junkai frowned.

“Let’s sit in front of him, Junkai!”

Junkai hesitantly sat with Yangmi in front.

Yangmi wasn’t allowed to sit in in their classes today so before Qianxi and Junkai could get inside the classroom, the latter pushed Qianxi against the wall and trapped him in between his arms.

The thud was so loud that a lot of their classmates turned to look at them.

Even Yinke and Wutong looked at them in shock.

“J-Junkai?” Qianxi’s eyes widen.

This never happened before.

“Are you avoiding me?” Junkai glared.

“What are you on about?” Qianxi sighed.

“Why didn’t we sit at the last seats where the three of us can sit?”

“Yangmi wanted to sit in front. She told me before you came.”

“Then why didn’t you hold my hand?”

“I had a lot of things to carry, Junkai.”

“You’re lying to me.”

Qianxi looked down.

“Tell me the truth. There really is something wrong, am I right?”

“Confront me when I’m ready, will you?” Qianxi looked up at Junkai with glassy eyes which made the latter drop his arms.

“Qian…”

“Please?” Qianxi’s voice cracked which made Junkai flinched.

Junkai pulled Qianxi in his embrace.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Qianxi.”

Qianxi held unto Junkai’s uniform when he felt Junkai shaking.

“No, please don’t apologize.”

“I-I’ll do better, Qianxi. Please just don’t push me away.”

“No, please don’t be like this.” Qianxi pulled away only to cup Junkai’s cheeks.

Junkai only looked at him with sad eyes.

“This is not your fault. I will tell you when I’m ready, okay?”

Junkai nodded before pulling Qianxi in a hug again.

At lunch, everyone was quiet.

“Yuan said that he wants to meet you at the nearby café later.”

Qianxi nodded before taking a bite of his food.

Junkai’s phone beeped which made Qianxi take a peek.

It was a text from Yangmi.

Yangmi: Junkaiiii! I’m so bored here!

Junkai: You better listen or else I won’t let you sit in.

Yangmi: You’re so mean! You’re supposed to be my hero and save me from my misery!

Junkai chuckled lightly which made Qianxi smile.

At least, Junkai is smilling.

But before Qianxi can adore Junkai’s chuckle again, the latter started being poker face again.

Junkai: I can’t be a hero anymore.

Qianxi gazed at Junkai who smiled at his phone with tight lips.

Yangmi: Who said that? You’ll always be my hero, you know.

Junkai: I don’t want to be just yours. I want to be the hero of every people close to me.

Yangmi: Let me guess, Qianxi?

Qianxi bit his lip and turned away when Junkai almost caught him looking at his phone.

Junkai: How did I become your hero anyway?

Qianxi took a peek again and his heart is slowly breaking with what Yangmi just replied.

Yangmi: Just by being you.

Qianxi stood up and packed his lunch.

“Qianxi, where are you going?” Yinke raised an eyebrow.

“I…”

Qianxi could feel Junkai’s stare at him.

“I don’t feel good so I’m going to the clinic.” Qianxi grinned as he scratched his nape.

“Oh… okay.”

Qianxi ran from the cafeteria and most probably out of the school. He can’t breathe. He can’t breathe in the same air as Junkai and Yangmi.

Qianxi tripped on some rock and ended up falling.

“Ouch.” Qianxi groaned.

Qianxi looked at his knee to see a red bruise forming.

After a while, Qianxi returned to school but went to the clinic to clean his wound.

From the other bed with only a curtain separating them, Qianxi heard some gossips from other students.

“I went to the gym a while ago and saw Junkai and Lin Yangmi playing soccer.”

“Oh really? You know, they look really cute together.”

“Mhm! Two soccer players together would make such a couple goals!”

Qianxi bit his lip.

The girl squeal in their imagination.

“But Junkai is unfortunately taken.”

“Lin Yangmi was too late. Yi Yang Qianxi already charmed Wang Junkai.” The girl laughed.

“Maybe… maybe if Yangmi was in this school, she might’ve been the one Junkai would fall for.”

Qianxi’s hand formed into a fist as he tried containing his tears.

“Mhm. They’re so alike in everything.”

“And she even calls him her hero!”

“What an unfortunate love story indeed.”

Once Qianxi was sure that the girls left the clinic, he curled himself into a ball and started crying.

Qianxi cried himself to sleep at the clinic so the school nurse woke him up.

“Qianxi, you missed all of the remaining classes.” Nurse Fan frowned.

“I’m sorry, Nurse Fan.” Qianxi looked down.

“I’m not upset. I’m just worried. You never miss classes before.”

“I just don’t really feel good today.”

“Mhm. Go home and get some rest, okay? And fortunately, your wound isn’t that deep.”

Qianxi smiled and thanked Nurse Fan before walking along the hallway.

At the gym, Qianxi quietly peeked and saw the soccer players practicing.

Yinke was seated at the bleachers with Yuan and Yangmi next to him.

Qianxi remembered his hang out with Yuan and texted the latter.

Qianxi: Yuan, it’s Qianxi.

Yuan stood up and showed his text to Yinke whose eyes widen.

Seems like they’ve been wondering about Qianxi’s whereabouts.

Yuan: Where have you been?! We’ve been looking all over for you! And Yinke told me you didn’t even attend the remaining classes!

Qianxi: I went somewhere.

Yuan: I swear if something bad happens to you, I’ll punch you myself.

Qianxi smiled to himself. Yuan is really something.

Qianxi: I’m fine. So about that hang out?

Yuan: Oh! Let’s go now?

Qianxi: Mhm.

Yuan: Then go here.

Qianxi: Why can’t you just go to the café instead?

Yuan: We’re all worried for you. Yinke even cried. Just let them see you in one piece.

Qianxi sighed before opening the gym door.

Everyone in the bleachers all looked at the newcomer and Yinke immediately ran to hug him.

“Where have you been?” Yinke whispered.

“I’m sorry for worrying you.” Qianxi patted Yinke’s back.

“Yi Yang Qianxi! If you wanted to go home, you should’ve told us.” Yuan crossed his arms.

“Yeah. Junkai almost lost his mind, you know. If I didn’t distract him with soccer, he would’ve ran all the way to who knows where just to find you.” Yangmi glared.

“I’m sorry.” Qianxi looked down.

“If you wanted attention, try doing something else.”

“Yangmi!” Yuan frowned.

“Don’t speak about my best friend like that.” Yinke glared at Yangmi.

Yangmi rolled her eyes and sat on the bleachers.

Qianxi looked down.

“Don’t listen to her.”

“At least you’re here.” Yuan sighed.

“What happened to your knee?”

“I-I tripped.”

“You should be careful!” Yuan whacked Qianxi’s head.

“I’m sorry!” Qianxi whined as he massaged his whacked head.

The whistle was heard which was a sign of break time and soon enough a thud was heard which made everyone look at the source of it.

It was Junkai who dropped his water bottle.

“Kai…” Qianxi mumbled.

Junkai again ran to Qianxi and crushed him in a hug.

“Where have you been? I was so worried about you.”

“I needed some air.” Qianxi buried his face on Junkai’s neck.

“Please don’t ever make me worry again, Qian. Please.”

“I’m sorry.”

On the way home, it was Yangmi who was alone in the two-seated side.

“You shouldn’t leave your delegate alone, Wangwang.”

“My boyfriend is injured.” Junkai frowned.

“I can still walk.”

“And Yangmi can still live even without me. So she’ll be fine alone in the bus, Yangyang.”

Qianxi chuckled and looked at the window.

“Don’t you ever do that kind of stunt again, okay?”

Qianxi nodded as he looked at Junkai.

Junkai put some of Qianxi’s bangs away from his eyes and kissed his forehead.

“Today was quite tiring, wasn’t it?”

“Mhm.”

“Go get some rest. The week is still long.”

“Mhm. The week is still long.” Qianxi mumbled as he glanced at Yangmi who was gazing out the window.
