Ah, the long awaited day had finally arrived. Their first gig at Moonbucks marked their official public debut. Despite being a small opening act, they never allowed pride to hinder them from utmost perfection. Greater things shall be added to those who remain faithful in smaller things.   “Please come visit us,” Biah said, doing a last minute flyer distribution to random visitors near the coffee shop. She handed out the flyers which Rika designed. It was yet another abstract character drawing which to others looked like a one eyed polished turd holding a microphone, but to Biah, it was absolutely adorable.   The more determined she was to reel in more listeners for their performance, the further she strayed away from the cafe. A loud ruckus appeared from a nearby corner, drawing Biah in like the Pied Piper from Hamelin. Little did she know, the scene unfolded into a gang fight.   “Oh my,” she breathed out in panic, her big doe eyes widening even more, her golden bracelet dangling to a halt.   Numerous guys wore black hoodies, some holding wooden planks or baseball bats. They cruelly charged at one another, nearly beating their opponents into an eternal knock out. Look at all that blood. Did she hear broken bones? What frightened her more above all else, was the familiar presence of the rude guy she had seen before, Lee Howon.   Instead of fear, however, she experienced a curious fascination, unable to retreat. She tried to stay out of his sight, but when Howon managed to land a jab at the opponent’s face, she elicited a sound so small a normal person would not have caught it. But Howon immediately turned to her with the reaction of a beastly predator. He saw her.   An awfully familiar feeling rekindled her heart when their gaze met. Her fears were non existent, feeling a nostalgic familiarity toward him instead. It was strangely similar to the way she felt about the pink Power Ranger. Protected and safe.   So she rolled up a brochure, inserted it between the grate of the caged fence, and returned to the cafe. Perhaps he’d come and watch too.     “No, Hoseok, that isn’t the right hole,” Chiyeon said, squinting her eyes, frustrated at her boyfriend’s incapability to insert it right. How long had she been waiting for him to penetrate through?   “It’s different. This isn’t the kind of hole I’m used to. I think it’s too big to go in,” Hoseok muttered, grunting a low hum to express similar frustration.   “You just put it in, and push hard!” Chiyeon remarked, impatiently waiting for him to get the job done.   “Easier for you to say, I’m the one doing all the work.” Hoseok rolled his eyes.   “Let me do it then. It takes so long for you to finish,” Chiyeon said, fetching the AUX cable from her boyfriend’s hand, inserting it into the right output hole of the small amplifier. “There! Done.”   Jineul watched by in horror as the couple in front of her fought. When they told her she could watch and learn to operate the sound system, she didn’t expect this.   Yerin passed by with a cup of cheap and affordable coffee in her hand, loudly slurping down her drink as she stared at the three. Chiyeon got her boyfriend to help along. Hoseok brought fancy equipment from Elliteu University, which Balgwang University couldn’t and wouldn’t afford.   “I did not expect a mature conversation coming from such kiddish faces,” she remarked, of course making a comment to further enhance their .   “Why? Our words are as innocent as our face,” Chiyeon remarked, pouting her lips and batting her eyelashes in the sweetest way possible.   Hoseok adorably imitated her pose, though his facial muscles were extremely exaggerated. He placed his head against his girlfriend’s to create a picture perfect image.   “Aw, if I hadn't heard you talking about putting big things in tiny holes, I would’ve believed you,” Yerin said, shrugging at them. She took a sip from her drink, hoping that by the end of the day, the billing tab would be on Moonbucks itself.   “This is the exact reason why I am having second thoughts on helping out,” Jineul said, shaking her head at their unholy conversation which continued as soon as Yerin left. Since Jineul wasn’t confident enough to perform, she wanted to at least be useful behind the scenes and learn to operate the sound system. But her noble intention was ruined by the two thirsty people.   “Why don’t you help your boyfriend out?” Hoseok asked, having been acquainted to Jineul and Sungjong in the short period of time.   Jineul looked over to Sungjong who had last minute courses with Chanyeol and the egg shaker. Though Sungjong originally wanted to play the keys, it was assigned to Taemin and Woohyun. Considering he still wanted to help, Sungjong learned to play a shaker within three days. They used the metronome of Chanyeol’s iPad to practice the tempo.   “He’s not my boyfriend.” Jineul of course denied. Everyone came to learn about Jineul’s inability to admit her relationship with Sungjong, which was very much intact.   “Alright, come over here and we’ll teach you to mix the sound levels,” Hoseok instructed once the cables were connected to every instrument and microphone.   Yerin returned to the empty chair next to Mira, the furthest chair away from Chanyeol. She noticed Biah next to Chanyeol, wondering when the girl had even returned from distributing the flyers, or why she smiled in an unusually chipper way. But for now, let’s initiate a conversation with the nearest person. “Where’s your boyfriend?”   “Oh… Uhm…” Mira stammered, avoiding Yerin’s gaze. After their spectacular smacking performance, neither had the chance to talk it out. She tried texting Minhyuk that day, but never received a reply. For the sake of their believability, she made a wild guess. “He’s preparing his equipments. He… He’s gonna document today’s performance.”   “Oh, cool! We can make it like a music video,” Maerin cheered, staring at the rest with a burning curiosity. “Can I derp?”   “No.” Hyunmi’s answer was faster than the pace with which Maerin ended her sentence. The club was going to have a perfectly clean image without the aid of ridiculously humiliating facial expressions. She never looked up from the notes on her iPad, not wanting to see Maerin’s glorious derp parade.   “Have a drink and cool down,” Kibum told her, knowing the difference between her usual sternness, and the ones masking her worries. This was the latter, and he wasn’t in the mood to deal with her mood swings.   “If you could be a dear and get me some green tea frappucino, that’d be great. Thank you,” Hyunmi remarked, pressing her lips into a sweet smile.   “You got arms and legs, don’t you? Use it,” Kibum said, poking his straw against the bottom of his plastic cup, showing no intention to help her.   If they weren’t in a public area and if Hyunmi were a good aimer, she’d throw the nearest artificial plant at Kibum. But the violent thought diminished when suddenly, a cup of coffee was placed in front of her nose. She stared at the drink, inhaling the sweet smell of caramel which coated everyone’s olfactory sense with sugary goodness. It suddenly smelled like Christmas came too early. When she looked up, the one meeting her eyes with a kind smile was none other than Woohyun.   This she did not expect, so she couldn't help be a little flustered when she replied with a small voice. “Thank you, but I don’t actually drink-”   “Oh, it’s not for you.” Woohyun casually slipped in the empty seat beside her, resting his arm behind her chair, pulling the drink closer to himself. “Just wanted to show off this caramel macchiato I got for myself.”   If they weren’t in a public area and if Hyunmi were a good aimer, she’d throw an artificial plant at Woohyun too. Look at the two guys cackling so victoriously after tricking her, even doing a high five. No wonder they got along so well.   “If you want, I’ll get it for you,” Myungsoo suddenly offered, getting up from his seat. “I was on the way to order a drink for myself anyway.”   Seulyi looked up, her heart melting. He was too kind, and once again too perfect for a human being. Could he perhaps be an angel sent down to live among the humans? She’d easily delude herself in the fairytale.   “Aw, thank you, Myungsoo.” Hyunmi was so grateful, her spiteful glare to the two guys created a stark contrast in comparison. “Both of you should learn a thing or two from Myungsoo on how to treat a lady.”   The compliment, albeit satirical in nature, managed to put a bashful smile on Myungsoo’s god-like face.   It only made Woohyun chuckle as he leaned in closer to the girl beside him, lifting his lips into a teasing smile. “I do know how to treat a lady. I’m just afraid you’d fall for me.”   Considering he did not bother to lower his volume, everyone heard his statement loud and clear, the nature of his words echoing louder than the coffee bean grinding machines and clanking utensils. It beckoned for a reaction that consisted of no reaction at all, for it was too absurd.   “Arrogant jerk,” Yerin muttered lowly under her breath, amazed and annoyed at his extreme cockiness. It was slightly more realistic than Jaehwan’s bluffing, but both equally ludicrous.   Even Hyunmi, who normally had something to say, was so caught off guard by his frisky confidence. Sane people would react like Yerin did, but the tumultuous beating in her heart gave away her slight curiosity, or anticipation if you will, for him to try. Of course, it was merely to test out the truthfulness of his claims, and nothing more.   “I thought you already defined me as the obsessive stalker who secretly likes you.” Hyunmi squinted her eyes, adding a strong sarcasm in an echo of his earlier statement.   Woohyun did not seem provoked and calmly took a sip from his caramel macchiato. “Are you not?”   “No!”   Myungsoo moved his gaze between the two, waiting for a good time to announce his departure to the cashier. But when others resumed their chatting, he decided to head there himself. He remembered the order anyway.   As his eyes carefully read over the available menu, he noticed Seulyi appearing beside him. He didn’t think she needed anything considering she already had a drink. Maybe she was taking someone else’s order too.   “What are you getting?” He asked her kindly, waiting in line for their turn.   Seulyi felt her heart race at the question alone. His voice was surprisingly sultry when he spoke so close to her, and she prayed to a thousand different gods she normally wouldn’t believe in, asking for strength to talk to her crush without stuttering.   “I’m getting juice!” She declared in one swift motion of a firm sentence. It flowed out nicely from with such conviction. She did it! Seulyi didn’t stutter.   “Hm, but I don’t see juice on the menu.”   Seulyi’s smile dropped. Of course her accomplishment would’ve been an actual accomplishment had she said the right thing.   “Excuse me, but do you have juice in here?” Myungsoo took her words seriously, and kindly made it his first inquiry when it was his turn to order.   “Yeah, we actually have our signature Moonbucks juice which consists of an apple banana blend. Would you like to try it?” The person behind the cashier asked.   Myungsoo immediately turned to Seulyi, awaiting her confirmation. Oh, what a beautiful stare it was from the most beautiful creature on earth. Seulyi would not mind breathing her final breath in the presence of her hot stuff.   “Do you want the juice?” Myungsoo repeated.   In the midst of her observations, Seulyi forgot to reply him. So she nodded, her voice completely lost in an ocean of endless admiration.   Honestly, she didn’t process anything he said earlier and was met with surprise when the juice was actually handed to her. This was not what she wanted.   “What’s wrong?” Myungsoo asked, holding a green tea frappucino in one hand, while sipping on his own iced Americano in the other.   “I thought this would be the drink with… With white foam, that’s really tall. And the color was completely white, or orange, but I think it’s white,” Seulyi mumbled a vague description, just as bad as Chanyeol’s description of coffee, which he claimed was just like tea but isn’t tea.   “Is it cold? With lots of whipped cream?”   “Yes! Lots of whipped cream, cause I love it,” Seulyi exclaimed.   “Mmmmm, sure you do,” Chiyeon chimed in as she conveniently walked by with impeccable timing. To a normal person, whipped cream was simply whipped cream. But to someone with a mind as dirty and corrupted as Chiyeon, whipped cream was delicious in many ways.   Myungsoo laughed, watching Seulyi’s gaze harden. She looked so angry at the poor innocent juice, as if about punish it. “Maybe it’s the white chocolate mocha frappuccino?”   “I don’t really eat or drink anything with chocolate,” Seulyi spoke, naturally conversing to him without any stutters. The gods even helped her to reveal too many details about herself.
