Game night, welcoming party, bonding time—they could call the event whatever they wanted, but it served exactly those three purposes. They invaded the living room of the dormitory, having some food and snacks ready. Their group of twenty something people were busy chatting or eating something. Other students occasionally walked by and stared, but then they’d leave. Unlike the others who were busy hanging out, Hyunmi had secluded herself in a corner, busy writing something on a piece of paper. The melodious sound of the guitar played beside her, and she expected to see Jaehwan. Looking up, it was Myungsoo instead. “Why are you here by yourself?” He sat down in front of her. “I am preparing questions for a game,” Hyunmi answered, multitasking by writing and entertaining Myungsoo at the same time. “Want me to help?” He offered, always so kind. “I don’t want to end up scolding you, so I’m good, thanks,” Hyunmi told him with some humor and returned to her task. She expected Myungsoo to leave, but he didn’t. “So, how’s the guitar lesson going with Woohyun go?” He subtly changed the topic, striking another melody on the guitar. But when he noticed an awkward halt in the girl’s movement and a peachy blush on her face, he unconsciously struck the wrong chord. “G-good. He’s a fast learner,” Hyunmi said, never looking up to meet his eyes. “How about you guys? Jaehwan is an amazing teacher, isn’t he?” “Yeah, but it would’ve been more fun with you around,” Myungsoo said, nonchalantly continuing his guitar playing. “Aw,” Hyunmi cooed, misreading the underlying meaning of his words. “A bigger group is always more fun. Maybe you can try asking others to join, like Seulyi!” Of course Seulyi had zero interest learning the guitar, but if there was an opportunity to stay close with Myungsoo, she would take it. “True,” he said, absentmindedly playing a more solemn tune now. “Maybe you can join us some other time.” “Maybe,” Hyunmi told him, her attention back on the papers. She really thought Myungsoo would leave, but he continued playing the guitar, accompanying her through his presence alone. How she wished Seulyi would pop out at any second to drag her man away. But no, Seulyi simply watched from afar. She noticed Myungsoo searching for Hyunmi as soon as he arrived at the scene, adding more evidence to her theory. She needed help. “Woohyun,” she approached the guy who was in the middle of chatting with Kibum and a few other guys. “I need to talk to you.” The guys turned to her, surprised at her sudden appearance. “Oh, just a heads up Seulyi, but you’ll help me sew some costumes for the drama club,” Kibum informed her. It sounded more like a demanding order than a by-the-way statement. “What?” The girl made a look of absolute disgust. “Yeah. Either that, or I’m gonna tell Myungsoo all about your bad habits.” Kibum was extremely effective when threatening people. He was always updated with the latest gossip, and knew how to manipulate everyone’s love interest against them. “You can’t do that,” Seulyi said, her voice weakening in defeat. “Would you like to see me try?” Kibum smirked at his fellow fashion designer junior. Before Seulyi could say anything, Woohyun nudged Kibum to stop it. He motioned Seulyi to come with him. “What’s up?” “Didn’t you say you were gonna help? Look.” Seulyi pointed at the pair not meant to be. She was not the type to whine, but seeing those two together placed her on the borderline of tears and frustration. “Do you think he’s interested in her?” “No way!” Woohyun answered too fast, more for his own reassurance than hers. But seeing the two remaining in each other’s company for the past few minutes, her fear began to transfer to him. “I mean, he never really talks about it. I never really questioned him.” “Oh.” “Don’t worry. I’m he doesn’t,” Woohyun reaffirmed, trying his best to flash his usual grin. “A lot of girls asked me to help out, but I always decline. I’ll make an exception for you.” “Why?” Seulyi was quick with her suspicions, knowing not to blindly trust a kind offer, unless it was Myungsoo’s. “I think it’s a good time for the dude to find himself a girlfriend,” Woohyun answered, his tone was so convincing Seulyi almost felt bad for doubting him earlier. But then she remembered he had a personal gain from helping her, and the guilt disappeared. “Like I said, you’d fit him.” “Really?” Seulyi’s eyes sparkled with hope. “Yeah, you all the time, and Myungsoo has a secret stash of in his laptop.” Woohyun reminded, smiling when the girl groaned in embarrassment. “Match made in heaven.” Seulyi did not think she’d match Myungsoo in that aspect, but at least it showed their compatibility. So why not? She made the deal. Mira was glad the others were too occupied to question her relationship with Minhyuk. She enjoyed the calmness before the storm while it lasted, but now that game night was here, she could see her forthcoming doom approaching. “Have we settled on a nickname yet?” Minhyuk asked, his voice interrupting her thought. Right, they were busy rehearsing last minute details of their fabricated relationship, trying to make it seem as realistic as possible, doing the things couples usually do. “You can call me whatever you like,” Mira said, turning to the guy, watching the frown appear between his eyebrows. It should’ve been an easy task, but it looked like he was trying to find the solution to cancer. She laughed and decided to help him out. “What did you use to call your previous girlfriends?” “No, you deserve a special and personalized nickname,” Minhyuk rejected her idea, seemingly brewing a brilliant idea in his mind. Then he gasped out loud, “Babe.” Mira flattened her eyes. So much for a special and personalized nickname when it was probably one of the most common nickname between couples worldwide. But considering she never called her ex that way, she did not really protest. “Fine.” “Alright, so I can either call you my Mira or my babe.” Mira tried her hardest to suppress her flustered expression. It shouldn’t bear any meaning to her, but the way those intimate words rolled off his tongue with such perfection felt just right. “Or we can go a little international,” Minhyuk randomly said, having the habit to verbally express his entire thought process out loud. “What?” Mira could only try to keep up, and so far, she was doing pretty well. “Did you know that my babe in French is mon bebe?” Minhyuk said randomly, surprising her with his bilingual knowledge. “You are mon bebe.” Gosh, it sounded even ier in French, but none of Mira’s composed expression led him on to her real thought. She inhaled the air of self-control and half smiled at him. “Keep it local.” “Okay, my babe,” he enunciated the words as he typed it down on his phone, compiling annotations of their fake history together. “I should warn you though,” Mira said, hearing as Kibum began gathering people. “Today, our discussion may be put to the test. If there are any truth or dare games…” Minhyuk grinned at once, holding a finger up to stop her from talking. “Say no more, I got this. We both got this.” It was a little worrying, but Mira decided she could trust him and his evil mind. “Alright, let’s take care of this, babe.” Mira wanted to try out how the pet name sounded. Seeing the small flinch of surprise on Minhyuk’s face made her realize it didn’t sound all too bad. Seeing him slightly flustered convinced her she could definitely get used to this. As midnight came closer, some of them had played a bunch of random games. Now they were gathered in a circle, Kibum leading them into a game of Never Have I Ever. “Why isn’t Hyunmi joining?” Woohyun was quick to notice her absence, seeing the girl at a nearby table, lifting her head from whatever she was scribbling down at the mention of her name. “Huh, it almost sounds as if you want me to be in the game,” she told him with a playful grin, hoping to catch him off guard, the least. But that didn’t happen. He didn’t even deny. “How else can I obtain secrets to use against you someday?” Woohyun shrugged innocently, as if he had no choice but to wish her participation. “Don’t worry, I know all her secrets. I’ll tell you later,” Seulyi offered, much to Hyunmi’s protest. The last time they played together, a shocking revelation appeared, which was perhaps the main cause for Hyunmi sitting out the game. “I don’t know how to play this,” Biah said, blinking her eyes in confusion. She held her hand up, imitating the others. “Basically someone makes a statement that starts with ‘never have I ever.’ If you have done it, you put a finger down which means you lost a point,” Rika explained. “Let me give an example,” Jangjun volunteered, beaming brightly. “Never have I ever had a portrait drawn of myself.” “Idiot, you can’t do that. I drew your portrait before. You can’t kill yourself,” Rika said, giving him a small push for his idiocy. “Yeah, you can. You are allowed to kill yourself,” Jangjun said, hearing the explicit gasp from Eun and Biah. “That sounds gruesome. Biah’s gonna get weird ideas,” Rika said, and turned to both of them. “When the statement appli
