Jeongyeon wasn’t the biggest on skinship. She didn’t like being touched, especially not without her approval, but sometimes at night when a small hand crept up to hers and locked itself in it, she couldn’t help but hold on to it tightly until the moment she opened her eyes again.

Momo loved skinship. She loved holding her friends’ hands, hugging them from behind and kissing their cheeks or shoulders. It was normal to Momo, her way of showing affection, but whenever she woke up to find Jeongyeon’s hand still in hers she couldn’t help but feel flustered.

Jeongyeon wasn’t used to having nightmares, especially recurring ones but maybe it was just the stress of work getting to her. It wasn’t easy, keeping up with probably one of the busiest schedules in the idol industry. They had recordings, shootings and lessons pretty much every day and their sleeping habits were definitely getting affected by this. She went from going to bed before 12 to telling herself she’d go to sleep in “just a few minutes” when the clock marked 3am. She was now used to spending that time watching shows on Netflix or on the phone, avoiding the moment she had to close her eyes and fall back into her recurring nightmare.

Momo could sense something wasn’t right with Jeongyeon when she noticed her reluctance to turn off the lights one night. That next morning, she woke up before dawn to go to the bathroom only to find Jeongyeon lying on the floor. Could it be she was having nightmares? it must’ve been all the horror movies she watched before bed, Jeongyeon had always been a bit of a masochist when it came to horror movies but they rarely seemed scare her. She wondered what Jeongyeon had watched that had affected her so much to the point where it had been over a month since the shorter haired girl had enjoyed a good 5+ hour long sleep. She knew she had to help Jeongyeon but how? Momo decided maybe distracting her until she fell asleep would do the trick, she could talk to her and maybe hug her so she wouldn’t feel afraid anymore.

Jeongyeon wasn’t sure what Momo was up to when she announced she had hidden her laptop the moment they had arrived at the dorm. None of the girls were willing to get involved, this was between Jeongyeon and Momo. She gave up after 15 minutes of searching when Momo revealed she was planning on giving it to her the next morning. Momo told to Jeongyeon that she had a hard time going to sleep with her computer’s bright light. When Jeongyeon suggested she’d use it in the living room instead, Momo insisted that she couldn’t sleep unless she had something warm next to her. Jeongyeon gave in, even though she was still skeptical of Momo’s lousy excuse.

Momo remained quiet for a while as she laid in bed next to Jeongyeon, waiting for the other to talk, she could sense she wasn’t asleep yet and she wondered if she didn’t feel like talking because she was mad at Momo for hiding her computer. Momo didn’t care if Jeongyeon got mad at her if it meant Jeongyeon would stop having those nightmares. Her plan was simple, she’d chat with Jeongyeon and get her to spill as to why she was having such a hard time sleeping.

Jeongyeon was tired of the deafening silence and asked Momo why they were doing this, the truth. She wasn’t dumb, she knew Momo was lying, after sharing a room with someone for so long you learn their habits and you can definitely learn to tell when they were being insincere.

“You’ve been having nightmares haven’t you?”

“Nightmares? what makes you think that?”

“You go to sleep really late and wake up in the middle of the night. You also started to talk in your sleep which isn’t a habit of yours. I’m worried.”

There was a small pause before Jeongyeon replied.

“I don’t know when it started, but lately, I’ve been having a lot of bad dreams”

“What are they about? Is it okay if I ask?”

“Yeah” Jeongyeon lowered her voice. “I don’t know, it’s dark and they usually end with bad things happening to one of us”

“Us?”

“Nayeon, Jihyo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Tzuyu, Chaeyoung…You and me…”

“We’re all still here, Jeongyeon, we’re all okay. You don’t have to worry”

Momo smiled at Jeongyeon and took her hand in hers.

“Here, you can hold my hand, so if you’re having a bad dream, you’ll feel my hand in yours and realize its just that, a dream.”

Jeongyeon bit her lip.

“You make me sound like a baby” Jeongyeon chuckled lightly. “shouldn’t it be the other way around? me that’s taking care of you?”

“Everyone needs to be taken care of at some point” Momo replied bashfully.

There was an awkward silence after that, they just stared at each other quietly before jeongyeon finally spoke:

“What do you do when you have, uh, bad dreams?”

“That’s what my Sully doll is for” Momo said patting the huge stuffed monster that laid between them.

Jeongyeon let go of Momo’s hand and sat up. She stared a Momo for a second, as if considering a thought, before moving the Sully doll to the other side of the bed and shifting closer to Momo.

“Just for tonight, c-could you be my Sully doll?” Jeongyeon asked timidly.

Momo chuckled and buried herself in Jeongyeon’s shy embrace.

They remained like that for a few minutes. It felt nice, Momo admitted but she was starting to have a hard time breathing, Jeongyeon was basically crushing her and she knew she wouldn’t last night like that.

“It’s too much isn’t it?” Jeongyeon asked suddenly, as if reading her mind, letting go of Momo who gave her a shy nod.

“Sorry” Momo apologized, “It was nice but I think I should be big spoon next time, for the sake of my lungs and all”

“s-shut u-up“ Jeongyeon stuttered, embarrassed “j-just…h-hold my hand”

“Sounds perfect” She leaned in and gave Jeongyeon a small kiss in the forehead “goodnight, Jeongyeon”

Momo held Jeongyeon’s hand that night, and Jeongyeon didn’t move an inch. Jeongyeon revealed to Momo the next morning she hadn’t had nightmares, and so Momo held her hand the next night as well and the night after that and so on.

Jeongyeon never had another nightmare again...

ahhhhhh i apologize! this is pretty short! i feel like jeongmo is a pairing of few words, it's more about the meaningful looks and affectionate touches. anyway, this is short and sweet, based on Roomates TV when Momo said she held Jeongyeon's hand whenever she had nightmares. I liked this one-short cause I feel like its something that could have happened. AH! Tsundere Jeongyeon is the best, i really feel like writing more tsundere jeong in the future since it was pretty tame in this one-shot.
