Mingyu has always been a fan of Joohyun since he was 14 where is also the year where Prestige Girls debuted following After School's footsteps. Ever since the debut of Prestige Girls, Pledis's stocks has been increasing and it has raise to 6th place in the TOP 10 Korean Entetainment Agencies.
Because of Joohyun, Mingyu decided to follow his dreams to become a singer and has audition for Pledis and managed to got in. Years after years of being a trainee along with other SEVENTEEN members in Pledis, they finally debuted in 2015 three years after NUEST debuted.
