Chapter 6
Camp AlpineCHAPTER 6

“Campfire time!” someone yelled outside.
I looked to Minseok, not really sure what that meant or what to do next. He got up from his bed and slipped his shoes on at the door.
“Come on,” he said simply, giving me no explanation of what was going on. I followed.
Outside other boys were appearing from their cabins. They were all gathering in the village quad. As we joined them, I stood behind Minseok. I wasn’t that eager to meet everyone in Jiri Village. It was scary enough being scrutinized by Baekhyun earlier, I couldn’t imagine what it would be like under twenty sets of eyes.
“Hey, there! You get settled in okay?” Sandeul came from behind, giving me a pat on the back.
“Um, yeah. Everything’s okay,” I said, not sure how to answer.

And because there aren’t ten of me, I’d appreciate it if you veteran campers could help out the first years. Make sure they know where to go, help them out with the chants tonight, and make them feel welcome! That’s all from me. Let’s go!”
I followed Minseok and the rest of Jiri Village. All the boys talked excitedly amongst themselves. Baekhyun bounced around, appearing not much different from how he seemed when I met him earlier. Kyungsoo and Minseok were deep in conversation about something, and Gongchan talked animatedly behind me with his cabin-mate.
I couldn’t help but feel out of place. Even though these people were friendly to me, we still didn’t know each other. They already had an established friend group, and I was just the new kid. It didn’t seem much different from school actually. I wasn’t the new kid there, but I was the kid who couldn’t really find a place to fit in.
“We’re here! We’re here!” Baekhyun said appearing in front of me in a flash and vanishing again. I could hear him yelling at others too.
