CHAPTER 12

♦♦♦

I had practically fallen asleep the second my head hit the pillow. However, I felt severely sleep deprived the next morning. Minseok had woken up before I did and started going about his routine. I listened to the floor creek as he walked across the room to his dresser and slid the drawer out. I couldn’t even open my eyes to see what he was doing or to look at the clock. All managed to do was roll over on to my stomach and burry my face in the pillow.

“Hey bud, I’m heading over to the dining hall. You want me to get you anything? Breakfast is only being served for another hour.” Minseok’s hand came down the back of my leg and gave it a quick shake.

I groaned into the pillow. If breakfast was almost over that meant it was around ten o’clock. I was surprised I’d slept that long.

“I’ll take that as a no. I’ll save you some eggs and a juice anyway. We’ve got practice this afternoon, so you should eat something.”

There was no way I was getting the chance to be lazy this summer. “Orange juice please. I’ll be down in a little bit,” I gave a muffled reply.

After Minseok left, I decided to take my time getting ready. Knowing that I had food waiting for me didn’t encourage me to move any faster. The clock wasn’t working against me. I didn’t need to worry about Minseok walking back through the cabin door any time soon. I could breathe easy. I relaxed on the bed for another ten minutes before finally flinging my sheet back and sliding my legs off the side of the bed. Since I knew I had soccer practice this afternoon, I figured I’d get ready early. It would save me from sneaking around to change later. Plus, I’d have more time to securely wrap my chest.

Breakfast was relatively stress free. It was so late in the morning that almost everyone had already finished eating. Minseok was almost done when I got there. He had saved me some food, like he said he would. He then told me that I should arrive at practice early since I had the day before. I apologized and said that I would.

As I made my way to the field after eating, I could see a few people already running around on the field, Minseok, Taekwoon, and of course Luhan. I wanted to turn around, but I had already made a promise to come early. I awkwardly waved to them as I approached.

“Hey, Jisoo. I got some extra equipment for you. Shin guards and some socks,” Minseok pointed to a bag sitting on the edge of the bench. Can you two help me get the stuff for practice really quick?” he asked Taekwoon and me.

We followed him over to a little shed. He unlocked the door and opened it up. The smell of must and grass was overwhelming. I immediately regretted agreeing to help.

“Leo, can you find Jisoo some cleats? There should be a box of extras on the back shelf,” Minseok instructed.

I held my breath and followed the boys inside. “What size show do you wear?” Taekwoon asked.

“245,” I croaked out trying to save my oxygen.

He gave me a strange look. “Just breath normally. You’ll kill yourself before the air in here does.”

I released my breath and let out a weak laugh. He saw through me quite easily. Taekwoon turned his attention back to his task and dug guickly through a box before moving onto another. I heard him sigh a few times before he turned around and motioned for me to go out.

“These are the only 245s I could find.” He held up a pair of silver and purple cleats.

I could feel a lump form in my throat. Clearly they were girl’s cleats. How was I supposed to respond? Should I act offended? Would he think that was too childish of me? I thought it was childish.

“Um… those should be fine. My feet are small, so I usually have this problem. As long as they keep my feet safe.”

Taekwoon nodded in understanding. He accepted my reasoning easier than I thought he would. After that, we helped Minseok set up some cones around the field while Luhan stood to the side, flipping through papers on his clipboard.

“Lazy,” I muttered under my breath. I couldn’t help myself. Just the sight of him standing there infuriated me.

Slowly the soccer club member started to arrive. I decided that was as good a time as any to put my new gear on. I sat at the far end of the bench. I took a second to observe what the others were doing, trying to figure out how to put the shin guards on.

Leo jogged by, already starting his warm up. I desperately wished for him to stop and offer me some help. It would have been too much if I asked directly.

I slid into the shin guards, frowning at the way they felt on my legs. I pulled at the Velcro strap across the top, not sure what it was for. I decided to just leave it alone. I pulled on the socks and put my feet into the borrowed cleats. They didn’t feel awful.I walked out to the center of the field where everyone was gathering. Leo was standing at the back of the group with Baro. It was the perfect opportunity to ask for help, so that’s what I did.

“Can either of you tell me if I’ve got these things on right?” I rolled down the top of my socks so they could get a better look.

“The part at the bottom should be covering the sides of your ankle.” Baro crouched down and inspected my work. “That looks fine, but you have to secure the top around your leg too,” he instructed. He pulled at the straps I neglected.

Leo shot me an annoyed look.

“I’ve never played soccer in a formal setting, okay?” I defended myself. “I don’t know how this stuff works.”

“These should be tied tighter too and double knotted.” Baro pulled at the laces on the cleats before standing again. “Are those girl’s cleats?”

Leo spoke up before I had the chance. “His feet are small. I couldn’t find anything else in his size.”

“Well, at least you’ll stand out on the field,” Baro laughed.

“Guys! Centerfield!” Luhan yelled for all team to gather. The speed at which everyone moved was amazing. Luhan either had a ton of respect or everyone feared him.

“For warm up, we’re going to play a little game. It’s going to focus on ball control, so everyone needs a ball. You’re going to navigate the field with your ball, avoiding others and keeping possession. What you want to do is try to knock the ball away from someone else without losing your own. If you lose possession, do ten push-ups on the side, and then you can come back in.”

We all dispersed, grabbing a ball and going to an open spot on the field. Luhan blew his whistle an

Chapter 23: /screams/ i was busy yesterday so I couldn't read them all back-to-back like I wanted but LET'S GOO
He said "please" shut up! Lu's going soft on Jisoo it's starting; I can feel it in mah bones. Side note I really like how much pride Luhan has for his camp though real talk [actually how all of them do, but let's talk about Luhan since I mostly don't//shot] and how quick he is to get competitive - that I can relate to. Though I do admit we don't know much on Luhan to really judge his character compared to Jisoo; I'll forward to future chapters for that c:
OH DUDE WAIT JISOO IS THE SMACK-TALKER THIS IS GREAT! Real talk I always found it the hardest to be the "head" of the team during the games though so... but eyy, the results are not that bad. It wasn't an all-kill /claps/
Fast forward to the end and like yees more scenes with Luhan and Jisoo!! If memory serves me right we don't have a lot with the two; they're always scattered and short but with how much Jisoo has started to really /see/ Luhan after what the girls said, I expect more c: Which also brings up something I've wanted to say; is that I like how quick and smack-in-the-face Jisoo's conflicted attraction to Luhan is. I don't know if it's intended, or it's probably just how I read romcom to begin with lol, but the simple fact that all Jisoo really needed was just one comment from her friends about Luhan and suddenly she's noticing these little things. Things that she may or may not have noticed before but now reading more into them. Yes. And Luhan lmao he's conflicted too so much yes.

And now I am done! o7 Thoroughly enjoyed these chapters and looking forward to the next!

Chapter 22: I cry little Hyuk so proud ;A; BUT BAEkhyun would though!! He really is a sneaky peanut. I had typed sticky hmm, maybe he's sticky not sneaky?? lmao
THE GIRLS ARE HERE YEESS FRIENDSS! I'm ready! loll of course we gotta get the crew in on this like I'm excited for Baekhyun and I don't know why - jk I do but shh. Also Minseok really looks out for Luhan, ya know? If it weren't for him most of the time Luhan would probably be awkwardly alone? With his attitude and all. Ahh friends. I CHOKED WHEN MINHEE MENTIONed Minseok as a God like YAS! I also agree xD oh dude i feel it is this were the rom begins??
I don't know if you've noticed but I'm commenting on everything that points out to me but like I'm too lost in reading lol First Baekhyun with his marvelous question, and then the dip into Jisoo's school life but that quick recovery from Luhan?? I'm feeling this. The rom is forming and I'm ready and wow Luhan did surprise me because he was actually paying attention.
BAEKHYUN, HONEY! SOMEONE GIVE THE BOY A MATCHING BRACELET! STAT! I love Baekhyun and his dialogues ;A; Have I told you that? I feel like I have but I also feel like I gotta say it again.
The wrap up to this chapter is so nice. We see the difference but similarities between Jisoo's sets of friends and I think that's really nice to know/see.

I usually don't comment back-to-back but I just gotta with this story. With that I'm now off to the next chapter! Weeee!

Chapter 21: When Jisoo described Luhan and Minseok discussing as an old married couple; that's when I really saw the scene and took a two minute break because of laughter lol Her imagination is so simple yet so relatable.
Luhan that sneaky, salty little peanut. I agree with Jisoo he's planning something but wHAT? At the very least Taekwoon is there to help a girl out ;-; I feel for Minseok though; he didn't get to get his team that he wanted.
Every scene with Taekwoon and Jisoo is adorable like he's so protective of her that he legit doesn't even noticed until she points it out lol
Baekhyun and his over-excitement like ahskgl but yo it seems like he felt nothing... i don't know with that peanut, he's also sneaky :p but they won wooo \o/

off to the next chapter!!

Chapter 20: Not gunna lie but the minute Jisoo joined the club I knew she was going to have to "cross-dress" but at the same time I'm excited for it xD Chaos ensured. Also the fact that Hongbin was the girl last year is like icing to a cake lol And then we got Baekhyun over here all "yes put. Jisoo. in. a. dress. and. wig. LET'S GO" like man. Just one line from Baekhyun and I am content lmao And as weird as it is I feel like Baekhyun would be the type to accidentally reveal Jisoo to someone else and him or accidentally reveal her to him, if that makes sense

ALRIGHT MINSEOK WOOT! I knew you were a good guy; seeing the potential of our Jisoo ;-; Those three would make a fabulous team and I will fite Luhan if he drags Jisoo to his team >:| despite this being a romcom lol i'm sorry I actually forget it is because it's so lighthearted thus far - which is gRREAT [I could use some lightheartedness right now ahah...]! That rom is gunna creep up on us, I feel it. I will await it. /anticipates/

/shies(?) away/ I'm sorry if my comment is long. I tend to just type what I feel, no backspacing here c:

Chapter 19: Silent reader coming through xD No really though, I started reading one night when searching for comedies but then life happened. Just recently picked it back up and LOVING IT! This is the comedy I've been craving to read, thank you ;-;
I love Jisoo's character and how such a weirdo she is but like good weirdo. I relate to her thought process a lot lol And the camp! Every single one of them are goobers! Especially Baek! OMG that scene in the cafe where it became chaos because of the clubs and Baekhyun runs on the lunch benches! I'm not lying when I say I've been thinking about that at least once a day. And every time I'm left with a smile.
I love all the characters and everything they all bring. Your comedy is gold for me!
onto recent ch...

Not gunna lie - I thought Minseok would be the first since the beginning but then once Leo was introduced I was like: "him" Lo and behold, it is lol Unless Minseok somehow already knows. He seems like a sneaky lil observant peanut. But dude it's out now! I feel like this is just the beginning of the story, or more like the end of the beginning and now we're getting to the core. I am ready for the domino effect! But at the same time scared of the reactions from the others D: Not many of the guys are close enough to Jisoo for them to be okay with...
Baekhyun calling Leo daddy is probably the next best thing lmao I love Baek; he's just a goober.

I can't wait to see how Leo and Jisoo are gunna go about this now. It's gunna be great xD
